Let go of the notion that “nonbinary” is synonymous with one experience, one gender feeling, one gender completely removed from the binary. You can be nonbinary and align or identify with a binary gender or both binary genders. Open your mind to the possibility of just how big nonbinary is. Nonbinary is a huge umbrella term that covers such a wide range of experiences that just one person can’t possibly describe them all. Open your mind to the openness of nonbinary. It is a non-constraining gender/label/term.
I just found this great explanation of the 'daddy kink' and I think I finally get it.
I just had to finally look this up after I kept hearing about the daddy kink and Professor Willow, lol.
“It’s a power exchange, a very specific kind. It’s not about pretending to be actual biological relatives, nor about the girl being an actual underage child. It is about the power differential between a daddy and a little girl.
"So… a lot of Dom/sub relationships have the Dom dictating what is happening, how it is happening, and punishing the sub. The framework of it is usually along the lines of Master/slave though, or Powerful/weak.
"The appeal to some for the DD/LG though is that the Dom has the power, but they are intensely concerned about the well-being and care of their sub. I mean, all Doms care about their subs well-being, obviously, but not in the same protective, nurturing way. A DD/LG drifts more into mentorship, emotional help, providing a safe and understanding place where a woman can let herself feel small and vulnerable in a safe environment. Because the real world is dangerous, and they can’t afford to be vulnerable. The sub in these relationships have a lot of control because it is their ‘acting out’ that triggers the 'punishment’. They get hurt only if they misbehave. And it is in their power when they choose to misbehave.
"It is BDSM with a… softer edge? More… protective, more safe. In a way.
"Not for everyone, clearly, but it has appeal to those that like to be sub in a way that is not so intense, and not so much pain focused. It is almost more mental submission than physical submission. Less pain focused.
"Dominance and physical play with a protective, safe and nurturing vibe. Kind of gets the best of both worlds for some people.”
This dynamic sounds appealing to me, but I’m still not sure if I could call a sexual partner “daddy” without thinking of my own dad and getting weirded out. I’d have to somehow separate the word “daddy” from biological fatherhood and create a new mental sub-folder with the different meaning, distinct from the more commonplace use of the term. From what I understand, calling an older, male partner 'daddy’ is like calling him 'sir,’ but with a softer, more nurturing edge. Anyone with more experience than me, feel free to correct me if my understanding here is incorrect, although I’ve seen the daddy kink interpreted in a few different ways and I say, whatever floats your boat.
Nope. Too Many Cooks is actually simple enough that pretty much anyone should be able to get it, as long as they understand the concepts of metafiction and parody. Here, let me knock this one out:
Too Many Cooks is a surrealist parody of television during the 80′s and 90′s (that still rings true today) that tries to convey the nature of the tv and entertainment industry through actions that ‘show’ you what they’re trying to say rather than ‘telling’ you.
You have your Full House kind of intro that’s full of corn and saturated sweetness presenting a gross idealization fantasy of American life. The intro goes on and on as more and more characters with gimmicks get introduced into the show. You get a Science Kid, a Tough Kid, and the Cool Neighbor Kid, followed by The Adorable Twins, and eventually get to a puppet cat, Smarf.
It just gets more ridiculous from here as we leave the house and explore an office setting; the producers are trying to make a switch and shake things up a little, introducing more set pieces to try and catch all audiences. And then, out of nowhere, our white family turns into a black family–same show, different color, because if you have the same successful product in a different flavor, you capture both the white audience who love the show, and the black audience, and often, tv producers didn’t care about ripping someone off or making a clone if it means they increase their audience.
But then family sitcoms get boring to people, and the black family is joined by a firefighter and a police officer, bringing us into a cop drama program, of which there have been too goddamn many throughout time and we see that trend continuing today.
Television is running the gamut of what can appeal to audiences, even through the point of turning to animation with the G.I. Joe parody. And all along, through all of the changes in all of the programs, you’re hearing, “Too Many Cooks.”
That saying applies to a few things about the short. First, there are too many cooks in the sense that there’s too much of the same thing on tv, and too much on tv in general. The amount of competition between original shows and their clone rivals produces a need for radical changes in producers, and they’ll try pretty much anything to mix it up and gain a wider audience share–we see this happen in the short because it’s happened so much throughout television history.
“Add a dog! Add… add a new neighbor! Give him a new job, give him a superpower! I don’t care what you do, just GET OUR RATINGS BACK!”
Too many cooks as a phrase also applies to the kind of people who would say the quote I just made above; often, when it comes to a creative property in the field of video entertainment, there are too many cooks in the kitchen messing with what used to be a simple dish, adding things they think will make it more appealing when they don’t even know how to cook in the first place. It’s apparently a giant problem for creators working today, especially in the animation industry–the suits want to mess with the idea based on their ‘market research.’
And finally,’ too many cooks’ works in describing how a tv show can lose its way, a lot like Twin Peaks did in its second season when Mark Frost and David Lynch were off set doing other things. All of the new characters, guest stars, and stupid gimmicks thrown in can be dismissed as ‘too many cooks.’ The additions are too much, and they have to go.
So, what’s the deal with our serial killer? Does he represent anything?
He might be a symbol for two things I can think of. I see the killer as the audience, growing sick of all the same garbage, heartless twists, and rehashes. He’s a cynical, dispirited person, and is giving all of these bad programs the axe (or machete, in this case.)
He might also represent the way that some of these shows go absolutely insane and cannibalize themselves, destroying their own product for the sake of ratings while being fully aware they’re burning the whole house down. If it makes enough heat and light, they’re good with it.
And of course, when the killer gets blown up by Smarf, that character reveals himself to be a robot of some kind, because Big Twists always get audiences interested and result in mainstream news coverage.
The Too Many Cooks disease continues on, becoming an actual disease treated in another type of show we’ve had too goddamn much of–a medical drama.
And finally, it all becomes too heavy and convoluted, and there have been so many cooks in the kitchen messing with things that it’s time to just throw out the whole dish and start again. This task is up to Smarf, who goes and hits the reset button, because when you’ve destroyed something beyond repair or have run out of ideas, what do you try as a hack producer?
And once that intro ends and we get into the show, we have just a few seconds of actual “show” before the end credits hit, because that intro took up so much time–a comment on how television is often style over substance now.
The abstract and horror elements serve mainly as devices for serving the message, but also give us a second gift of a seriously unique horror and psychological thriller kind of situation. Too Many Cooks is 100% good all the way through and I consider it an extremely valuable short film.
For as long as I can remember, my knowledge about otherkin and therians has been severely limited. I didn’t realize it was, because the concept is quite simple, no? “Humans who believe they are some sort of other creature.”
I’ve always thought this was a delusion, and felt bad for these people and hoped they would get the help they needed one day. This ‘feeling sorry’ got dismissed so often that my feelings towards them spiked to anger, where I could laugh heartily about the cringe compilations made about them because, well, I’d been treated like shit by them when I thought I’d only been empathetic.
A few days ago I decided to test my luck and interact with a few otherkin people. At first, my intent was 100% to see what stupid shit they would say. But I soon found them to be incredibly kind, and helpful, and it turns out my perception of what otherkin is (based on Tumblr and other mainstream online social media) was completely warped.
Actual otherkin and therians don’t act like that. All they have, is a strong belief that they are part-other creatures, through either reincarnation, misplaced souls or a psychological effect at a young age. They recognize and are aware that they have a human body, and most see it as a positive experience to live life as part animal while still having a human body. You can basically view it as a religion, really, but it’s not exactly that either.
A lot of what I’ve read up on involves otherkin with Paganism, using animal totems and other related beliefs to find their way in life. A few sources talked about imprinting, and the controversial topic of physical shifts. Meditation is used to find your name, and your animal. All of it is a really interesting process that I implore you to check out
(I’ll add sources to this post once I get out of bed, I just need to type this up because I’m overcome with guilt atm)
But what I really learned after all this time: whether it’s delusionsal or not doesn’t matter. It matters that they’re not harmful. To anyone. They’re just living their life, sharing experiences with others just like non-kin would talk about strange dreams we’ve had and interesting shows we saw on TV.
Those biting and growling and snarling in public, acting like a real animal and harming those around them in the process? Those people aren’t otherkin. They’re either delusional teens, or fakes. And a good portion of the otherkin and therian community seems to not like them either.
So I owe every otherkin and therian out there an apology. My view was warped, and frankly quite shallow and stupid. I’ve learned so much from simply talking to you guys that I’m ashamed to admit I ever thought differently and I’ll be more respectful of you guys in the future.
To anyone else who reads this and still holds biased views about otherkin: I highly recommend talking to one, or joining an otherkin discord to learn more about their experiences firsthand. You’ll find it fascinating, trust me. And feel free to share this message if you have any friends or family that are rude to the mere concept of otherkin. Misinformation can only be countered by sending out the right message.
In the shapeshifter au, what traits determine if someone is an alpha, beta, or omega? Does it have to do with personality?
I spent a day to write
this shit ahaha I hope it’s understandable, English is not my
first language x°D
soooo… be prepared! This is how we thought that things would work in our Shapeshifer AU and it’s a really long post ahahahsorry!
It’s mostly an “attitude”
Alpha are usually
more prone to start a fight, even for little things. They like to
resolve issues with some kind of challenge (not necessary a war, it
could also be just a playful race or something similar). They’re
kinda hot-headed and it’s really difficult to make them change their
mind about something. They also don’t like to take orders.
Beta have a “group
mindset” so they tend to defend those around them rather than
conquer. They try to reason with the enemy before commencing an
attack but if it’s necessary they’ll not hesitate to fight,
especially if it means to protect their group. They care to make
things work well.
Omega on the other
hand have the attitude to search for others approval and avoid fights
if they’re not really necessary. They’re really smart and usually
over-thinkers. Their intelligence can lead them to be really good
strategists or extremely emphatic beings (like Lucio, for example).
They also have some
physical difference that may made them more recognizable.
Alpha have stronger
muscles. That don’t necessary make them more bulky. Tracer, for
example, have really strong muscles that let her run at high speed
without auto-combusting in place, while Roadhog muscles actually make
him really bulky and allow him to crush almost anything without
are made for resistance, so their physical structure allows them to
absorb impacts better or endure longer fights. They’ll be the last to
go down and that (+ their attitude) makes them really prone to
sacrifice themselves for the sake of the group.
Omega are usually
more slim and agile, they’re made to dodge attacks. They can actually
be really dangerous because when they attack is always when they have
a clear advantage as you are probably already in their trap.
The last recognizable
difference is how they act with their mate.
All the shifters carry
some specific instincts from their animal forms (for example felines
have a better sight and canine a better sens of smell), but they all
go in “heat” (meaning that they have some phases when
they’re more receptive towards others attentions, nothing more) and
in that phase they have some specific differences:
Alpha have the bad
habit to bite, especially on the neck and under the chin. It’s an
ancestral behavior used to express dominance and they never lost it.
The others don’t usually do that.
the shit out of you, even if you’ve been a couple for 20 years.
Serenades, gifts, flowers, they’ll do their best to impress their
mate as best as they can… wich can be really romantic or really
over-sensitive and their tendency to overthink stuff lead them to
fantasize a lot… and stuck them in really embarrassing situations
when their body react to said thoughts. If they’re lucky they’ll just
end up flustered without reasons.
In the end they’re
identified as alpha, beta or omega as result of their most
prominent trait, but some of them are kind of “mixed”
as result of their life experience (acquired
McCree, for example, is
alpha with beta traits. While he was in the Deadlock Pack he had to
bow his head and put apart his cockiness in order to survive. His
attitude shifted more to defense than offence (but he still never
refuse a brawl). Or Hanzo, born with omega
traits, had to fight his way to keep his rank at the top of the
Shimada Clan, so he actually act a lot more like and alpha… on the
As a side note clans,
packs and flocks are usually led by an alpha due to their tendency to
assert their opinions. Morrison is an exception.
Do you know quantum spin? It’s quite complicated and I get the impression that a lot of people explain it wrong so I wanted to try an explanation myself.
quantum spin is the ability of particles to have a magnetic field like a bar magnet. It is called spin because the effect would also occure if a particle would spin around it’s own axis. But they’re not actually spinning. We know that because particles such as electrons either don’t have any dimension at all or are so small that they would have to spin a lot faster than the speed of light.
Still, in mathematics, you can pretend it is spinning to calculate the angular momentum and the direction of the spin. It is quantum mechanics though which means that you can only ever know the direction on one of the axis (x, y or z) and not all three.
So spin is actually a characteristic of electrons and other particles just like mass and charge.
What I think is very interesting about it is that we can measure the direction of the spin by sending a particle through an inhomogeneous magnetic field and in whatever direction we measure it the spin is always either up or down. But it is never in between. Also, if we measure one direction and then another and then the first again there is a 50% possibility that the outcome will be different than the first time.
Which means by measuring the spin of a particle we change the orientation of the paritcles spin so if we measure it for up/down we might get “up” because the electron (or other particle) just aligns when measured and then we might measure left/right and with that we changed the spin of the particle again so if we then measure up/down again it will just have one of the two directions.
I hope you liked my explanation! If not or if I got anything wrong please tell me!
The relation between what we see and what we know is never settled. Each evening we see the sun set. We know that the earth is turning away from it. Yet the knowledge, the explanation, never quite fits the sight.
Highly gifted children benefit from explanation as much as their peers
When children have tests at school or when their learning abilities
are assessed, they don’t always show their full potential. Exam stress
and/or lower metacognition - knowledge that makes learning easier - can
cause a child to underperform. This problem can be countered using
dynamic tests, where children receive training during the test and their
progress is measured to give a better image of their learning
capabilities. ‘The general assumption is that gifted children always
work to their full potential in such tests and that they don’t need
training or explanations,’ development psychologist Bart Vogelaar
explains. ‘I’m not sure that assumption is correct.’
For his PhD research, 522 children aged between five and ten years -
173 highly gifted and 349 averagely gifted - took part in dynamic
testing with a so-called learning potential test. The children had to
solve analogical reasoning tasks, comprising four boxes with different
geometric figures. The first three boxes were filled with figures that
changed from one box to the next according to a particular rule, for
example, in size or in position. The children had to use analogical
reasoning to draw the figure in the last box.
The test comprised an initial assessment based on a series of tasks,
after which the children were given a training session followed by a
further set of tasks as a post-assessment. Vogelaar: ‘This kind of test
gives a better insight into how well children learn because we are able
to measure not only how much they progress on a new task, but also how
much and what kind of help they need to achieve this progress.’
The test showed that all groups of children made progress, from the
starting to the post-measurement, with major individual differences.
'It confirmed that highly gifted children also benefit from explanation
and training, and that they don’t always show their full potential in
tests.’ Vogelaar concludes from this that dynamic testing gives better
insight into the reasoning capabilities and learning process of children
- whether or not highly gifted - than conventional testing, such as
with an IQ test.
Equal training and instruction
What really surprised Vogelaar was that the two groups of children
were not very different from one another. The test showed that highly
gifted children have the same need for instruction as averagely gifted
children, and that they exhibited the same degree of progress from the
starting to the post-assessment. The highly gifted children started at a
higher level of reasoning, but made the same amount of progress as
their averagely gifted peers.’ These findings suggest that they learn
just as much from the training and instruction as averagely gifted
Highly gifted children also need extra support
Schools tend to assume that highly gifted children can manage by
themselves and that they do not need any extra support. As a result,
they sometimes seem to be forgotten. Vogelaar’s research shows that
highly gifted children also need extra learning support. 'The fact that
these childen are clever does not mean that they always perform to
So let me get this straight…two weeks without any new Miraculous content? Who even thought of this stupid thing? An educational video explaining copyright and how it works online shared among creators would have been a better idea, though personally why the heck you folks even want to bend
that far just to make a point is beyond me personally. You cannot ERADICATE people abusing content. Deal with it. This is life. This will just be a nice humorous thing for them. But common folks like me will have to suffer for two weeks because of people like that. Just do as it has always been done: report and carry on. And see maybe about that informational idea. There is nothing else to be done about it really. As for participating in this: no thanks.
I’m just gonna tackle this bit by bit, ok?
So let me get this straight…two weeks without any new Miraculous content?
Yup. Those who are participating are not going to create any new Miraculous Content. For more info, feel free to visit @miraculousblackout! *^_^*
Who even thought of this stupid thing?
Fanartists and Fanfiction writers who were sick and tired of the constant routine of create-discover-report-repeat. We create things for people to enjoy them, then discover others have stolen our work, report them ruthlessly, and repeat the cycle because we love what we do. But it would get tiresome after a while, don’t you think? Ergo, we are making a bit of noise over it with this blackout.
An educational video explaining copyright and how it works online shared among creators would have been a better idea, though personally why the heck you folks even want to bend that far just to make a point is beyond me personally.
You’re right. An educational video explaining copyright and how it works would be a fantastic idea. Let me share one with you guys real quick.
This one’s on Copyright and Fair Use, dealing with works that have been copyrighted (in a delightfully entertaining way).
Here’s an entire Crash Course on Copyright!! It’s a playlist on intellectual property and goes a bit more into detail on the whole copyright thing. Give it a view when you’ve got the time!
Even Jazza–a noteable YouTube artist and animator–has created his own video on Copyright specifically for the artist like you and me.
You know, it’s almost like people thought this was a good idea, followed through with it, circulated it, and hoped it would educate the masses on copyright, how it works, and how to avoid entanglements with the law. As for us ‘bending that far to make a point’ is just us taking a stance against those people who wouldn’t bother to search for this information anyways.
You cannot ERADICATE people abusing content.
No, but we can certainly try to lower their numbers through any means necessary.
Deal with it. This is life.
You mean lay down and take this abuse? I don’t think so. We have a right to object to this, and the blackout movement is how we are doing so. People have been driven off because of this, we continue to report, and the fact of life is that when things hit you that you don’t like, you have to do something to change it. This is us doing something.
This will just be a nice humorous thing for them.
Then they can giggle for two weeks while they get no new material. Or they can go stir-crazy. Or they can move on. Either way, we are getting their attention. The ones who didn’t know will be educated. The ones who giggle can’t claim ignorance. Ergo, we will have no mercy on their accounts when this is done and if they get right back to it.
But common folks like me will have to suffer for two weeks because of people like that.
Okay. Correct me if I’m wrong, but this seems almost as conceited as the people who are ripping off artwork. You talk like you have every right to the content we produce and are therefore angry when we choose to go on a strike for two weeks because you are owed our artwork. We will be back, and you always have the option to create works yourself in the meantime (seriously. Even if you think you’re just ‘common folk’, you guys are capable of more than you realize), but while we do this, please keep in mind our reasons for doing so. We are being robbed of art and this is an issue we need to make noise about and make people aware of.
Just do as it has always been done: report and carry on.
We have been. It hasn’t been working. We’re trying something new.
And see maybe about that informational idea. There is nothing else to be done about it really.
We can look at it, it’s a good idea to inform people while we do this, but we’re not abandoning ship. Laying down and taking their reposting shenanigans without doing anything to stop it just doesn’t make any sense to me.
As for participating in this: no thanks.
Ok. It’s not required for everyone to participate, but there are those of us who are. We will be back on the 15th.
So on the show “Terrace House: Boys and Girls in the City” (currently on Netflix, basically Japanese “Big Brother” but like, super chill), there was a thing that is referred to as “The Meat Crime”.
Tatsuya Uchihara, a 23 yr old hair-dresser, had received a gift of expensive meat from a regular client of his.
A few of the other housemates decided to cook up and eat that meat while he was out working one night. They didn’t ask for his permission, and didn’t even save him any.
He got rightfully upset, and yet most of the other housemates treat it as “whats the big deal, its just meat. We didn’t have any other meat in the house”, ignoring the fact that it was a special gift from a client of his and held sentimental value to him. (They didn’t even cook it right…it included instructions on how to properly cook it, and it looked like they just grilled it normally…)
It eventually blows over, but the whole thing is now infamously referred to as “The Meat Crime”, and is one of the show’s biggest moments.
The show’s hosts make it hilarious though.
Anyways, watch the show sometime if you’re into that sort of thing. Now back to our irregularly-scheduled cafe fun.
So who thought of the bodyguard au?? Did you make the head cannon and @littlecofiegirl made the comic or??
Ahaha so people ARE confused lol I apologize for not making it clear, allow me to explain for you :) The original concept of my bodyguard au was from @littlecofiegirl, I sort of borrowed her idea with her permission and started to develop different storyline and setting. She also stated that bodyguard au has existed long before she started hers, so it’s hard to tell who’s the person that came up with the whole bodyguard thing 🤔 Anyway she and I both do the bodyguard au but carry out in different directions. However sometimes we do have pretty similar plots and the most funny part is that….we never knew or talked about these plots before we found out what each other was preparing for or posted them out individually! IT’S MAGIC😂 So no, we do not cooperate in this au which also means you can enjoy this au with more than one possibility and storyline :)
3 Scientific Reasons We Love Chocolate So Much – Psych2go Explains
Without a doubt, chocolate is one of the most loved sweet treats in the world. While not everyone may be partial to the sweet, melting, gooey confection, the fact that we like it so much is not just a coincidence. There are psychological reasons why it is something that tickles the taste buds of so many of us.
Our love for sugary things is something that helped us survive since humans started walking the earth. Food with a high sugar content provided you with more…
So I rebloged a post trying to verbally fight for transwomen. (Who are still valid in my opinion). However I worderd it incorrectly as I do on most of my post/reblogs but I am going to reticify that right now.
I grew up in a strict boy or girl mentality. I got deemed a weord kid because of dressing in princess clothes while working on cars with my father. So in steps my family on “what a women does”:
Is polite and courteous to others
Could taze/kill you if the situation calls for it
Make up (yeah the biggest issue in my reblog apologies my friends are still working with me)
Can take care of herself
Accepts others for who they are
Yeah those are models I uphold even if they need renovating… That is 18ish years of a family explaining that constantly. The ones I don’t uphold:
Ladies watch what they eat
Always listens to the man of the house
Does not do dirty things
Does not have the breadwinner job
Now, that its listed I shall go further on.
I did rush into the reblogs, and that was idiotic.
I do think all transwomen butch, girly, etc. Are all valid, and I am sorry for making it seem otherwise. That was a bad move.
My sister never wears makeup and she’ll probably smack me upside the head for that remark and yeah ‘twas dumb of me to slip like that.
Transwomen are still women folks. It doesn’t matter if you can tell they started with a different part or not. They are still women, whether they look the part or not, and whether or not people can accept it.
The Yerushalmi - Jerusalem Talmud, also called the Palestinian Talmud. (Sefaria link)
The Bavli is the ‘standard’, and so when saying “The Talmud”, people are referring to the Bavli.
[As I wrote this, I started wondering what’s the more common name now….
turns out the Hebrew names ‘Bavli’ and ‘Yerushalmi’ win big starting from the 1980s, so I’ll stick with that]
The Bavli was compiled in Babylon around the 5th century.
The Yerushalmi, despite its name, was compiled in Tiberias around the 4th century.
While the Yerushalmi was compiled and done with, the Bavli continued to be edited.
was done by the “Savora’im”, the sages who lived in Babylon between the
5th and 6th centuries, and possibly even by the early “Geonim”, the
sages who lived in Babylon between the 7th and 11th centuries.
are various opinions (of course) about the role of the Savora’im. The
traditional opinion holds that they didn’t do much, but some
researchers today say they wrote most of the Talmud.
any case, around the 8th century, the Bavli achieved its final form,
and was sent around the Jewish world, gaining prominence.
Israeli and Babylonian center vied for prominence throughout the Geonic
era, and the Babylonian center finally “won” when Rabbi Saadya Gaon took
over, in the early 10th century.]
Talmud does not deal with the whole Mishna. In fact, it deals with just
over half (37 out of 63 tractates), and skips things which didn’t really
interest the sages of Babylon: the commandments related to the Land of
Israel and the laws of purity and impurity.
The Talmud is built around the Mishna.
more modern way of looking at the Talmud is according to the “Vilna
Edition”. Published in the 1880s, the pagination of this edition became
the “de facto” standard (”turn to page 180, side B” is easier than “turn to chapter 4 and try to find where we are”)
But I think it’s important to understand the original format, because it does help you find what you’re looking for.
The Mishna is divided into 6 “Orders” (Seder, pl. Sedarim). [This is why both Mishna and Talmud are sometimes called “Shas”, the Hebrew acronym for “Shisha Sedarim” (six Orders)].
Each “Order” is divided into “Tractates” (Masechet, pl. Masachtot)
Each “Tractate” is divided into “Chapters”. Like the Parsha, the chapters are traditionally named, based on the first words of the chapter.
And each “Chapter” is divided into “Verses” or “Mishnas”
example, in our study of Hashavat Aveida, we’re studying the Mishna,
Seder Nezikin (Order of Damages), Masechet Bava Metzia, Chapters 1 and
2. In Hebrew, the chapters are referred to by name, but I’ll skip that
In Sefaria, they give you an option to view the Talmud by “Chapter” or by “Daf” (ie, Vilna edition pagination)
I know its been a few months since I’ve posted. There are 2 reasons why:
1: I’ve been creatively and artistically burnt out. A severe art block. I think need to step away for more than a week to really regain perspective. Its working :P
2: I suffered a sever allergic reaction to some food which put me in the hospital for a few hours. I’ve spent more time and money trying to learn what it was (among a few other unrelated health issues) in the past two months which left me with even less time for art even if I wanted to do it.
But that said… I’ve been playing around in the Unreal Engine 4 game engine; Lets see if I can actually make a game~
I’ll be back to regressing proper in 2018, but for now, I’ll be sharing progress in Unreal and start making progress that long awaited low poly tutorial thats been on the back burner for over a year haha.
I was wondering why some non binary people choose to physically transition if they are nb? Wouldn't it be leaning towards just being transgender if, for example, someone who is afab chose to have top surgery, they are just replacing a typically female physicality with a male one? And the same with hormones, it's just switching an aspect of themselves to the opposite binary gender? Obviously I respect every nb persons right to express themselves however makes them comfortable but I was wondering
Well, first of all, nonbinary people ARE transgender, though on a personal basis, some may choose not to identify as such. Trans just means that you do not 100% align or identify with the gender you were assigned at birth.
But secondly, you seem to have this mistaken idea that nonbinary describes one, specific experience. Indeed, you seem to have this mistaken idea that being a binary trans person (or maybe even being cis) describes one, specific experience. It doesn’t.
Besides the fact that nonbinary simply means “not 100% a woman only OR 100% a man only” and therefore covers anything from: no gender to multiple genders to simultaneous genders to fluid genders to partial genders to unknown genders to indescribable genders to anything else that falls outside the binary, trans people are not a monolith. As well, despite persistent transphobic misinformation, trans does not actually mean “transition”. Trans means “across”, as in identifying “across” or away from the gender you were assigned at birth. Transition of any sort is not required to be trans. Finally, since we’re on it, this is just a reminder that cis people can have feelings of discomfort and dislike towards their bodies, as well.
Some binary trans people love their bodies and are comfortable in them. Others don’t. This includes nonbinary people. Some nonbinary people may love their bodies without any physical transition. Others may want binarily “mismatching” genitalia. Others may want a completely different set of genitalia. Others may be slightly more comfortable with one set of genitalia over another. And still others may have too complex a relationship to their genitalia that transition isn’t possible. And others may not even know what they want.
A desire for whatever genitalia may be a desire to relieve dysphoria. It may be going after a feeling of euphoria. It may just be a preference of what you like best or are most comfortable with or even how you believe will help you express your gender best and potentially be misgendered less.
There is no one way to be trans. While many trans - and cis folk as well - have strong feelings towards their body and their genitalia and may consider their desire for a certain set (or to keep a certain set) of genitalia a sign or expression of their gender, not all do. Your genitalia do not define you or your gender.
Please take some more time to read through this blog and others like it so that you can better understand what nonbinary means and just how wide of experiences and perspectives and journeys we can have. One good place to start could be a good glossary where you can see just how wide a range of feelings that nonbinary covers.
I love classical music and I love bts, so I thought why not? It all started when it suddenly crosses my mind how Namjoon would be such an amazing conductor. He would still be really clumsy though, but he’s someone whom every member of the orchestra would respect and follow without hesitation, and it all flowed from there. link to my au: here
‘Looks intimidating but is the nice senior’
He was really intimidating when I first saw him. I was like ‘ wow? he looks kind of scary?’ But as I get to know him, he’s very adorable and soft ( and incredibly clumsy please be safe namjoon ). I respect him a lot as a leader. He always think about the other members deeply and support them from behind while also leading them from the front. The way he carries the burden of a leader is admirable. The color bangtan has now is because of Namjoon. Makes the perfect sense why he is the conductor.
Hey guys. So, I got the virus removed from my computer a while ago but I haven’t been on here because my time for writing and posting has been severely limited for the past few weeks due to issues at work and with my family. This is why I prefer to keep my personal life separate from all of this because things are already hectic enough lol. I had to take a week to get everything in order and I believe I’ve accomplished that for right now. So, I’m posting the next chapter of And My Heart Goes tonight and I will be replying to messages in my inbox immediately after posting on Wattpad. Thanks for all of those who were able to bear with me these past few weeks instead of flooding me with hate messages LOL! I greatly appreciate your patience.
WARNING: PLOT SPOILER FOR THOSE WHO HAVEN’T READ!!!
As I’ve said, my most recent short story “Something About
Carmen” had a hidden plot twist that I would later explain. Well here’s the
full explanation for those who didn’t catch on to it when reading:
Carmen, like many other transwomen and specifically
transwomen of color, has suffered many different attacks from men who reacted
negatively to learning she’s trans. If you read the story again, there’s a part
where she’s describing her attacks and one specifically is an attack where a
man hit her so hard that he knocked her unconscious. It was this violent attack
that actually put Carmen into a coma, which she has been in for the last eight
months. Thus, her relationship with Kemari is in her mind. Kemari Miller doesn’t
There are freethinking and compassionate black men in our
society like Kemari but sadly, Carmen didn’t encounter that kind of man until
she was put in a coma and found him in her dreams. It’s a very sad reality and
portraying that reality was important to me because transwomen of color are the
target of so much hatred and violence. If you gloss over the hidden plot twist
then you’d think this was a happy-go-lucky story about a black woman that has
found the love of her life, and her lover is okay with her being transgender. But when
you do discover the plot twist, it’s heartbreaking because this beautiful woman
knows her dream man is in fact in her head and she doesn’t want to wake back up
and live in her reality again.
But I’m glad you guys
enjoyed the story and I hope this post explaining that hidden plot twist makes
you think. I’ve never done this with a story so it took me a while to be
confident with the decision and to go for it, so I’m glad it’s been
well-received. And for all the Carmens out there in the world, my heart goes
out to you and I have hope that one day things will change.
(Thanks for the ask, sorry it took me so long to get to it) Ok, so for the first question regarding the power levels of the Super forms vs. the Ruby forms I only have one way I can put it without getting too much into it.
And Ruby! Knuckles is a very interesting prospect. However, it would not work the same way as with Sonic, as I believe the Master Emerald and the Chaos Emeralds are two separate entities meant to keep the other in check. In my own theory, I like to think that unlike the Chaos Emeralds, the Master Emerald is more about keeping the peace and order in the universe, keeping the flow of time “correct” if you will. It’s about calm sincerity.
Now that’s not to say Knuckles wouldn’t have a form, he definitely would. His would just be different.
Due to the Master Emerald always working better when the pieces are all together and always changing but in a uniform way, I think Knuckles would be able to absorb the Phantom Ruby completely instead of the weird half rejection that Sonic has to go through. Thus, Knuckles and the Ruby are now one uniform entity. Once fatigued though, that ruby will be rejected.
In comparison to Ruby!Sonic, Ruby!Knuckles does pack a powerful, reality shattering punch way stronger than Sonic ever could. However, the reality bending, or illusionary properties of the Ruby would be sacrificed in return for this raw power. In terms of speed and trickery, Sonic’s got everyone else beat on that end of the spectrum. If the two were to face off, it would end in a stale-mate just as many of their other bouts had ended. With Sonic hurting for the next month and Knuckles with some incomprehensibly atrocious headaches.
Intelligence is knowing that a tomato is a fruit.
Wisdom is knowing that it still shouldn’t go in a fruit salad.
Charisma is not being impolite about there being tomatoes in the fruit salad.
Constitution is eating the tomato fruit salad without gagging.
Dexterity is slipping the tomato fruit salad to the dog.
Strength is pummeling the jackass that brought the tomato fruit salad.
Quick(kinda dumb) question bc I'm kinda new to the gorillaz fandom, who is archie?
archie’s actually a character from the powerpuff girls movie. craig mcCracken wanted to put in some gorillaz references, hence the newspaper article and archie’s resemblence to the gorillaz’ artstyle (and his shirt) he only has one speaking line, and just appears in the middle and the end, but dang he’s cute.
@uncamurdy suggested the ship idea as a joke, & chose his name, as well. the whole thing took off bc it’s nice to be able to ship 2D with a character who we can all headcanon w/e we want (ie. he’s a good and nice punk boy who treats 2D the way 2D deserves) and thanks to Ace being in the band now, they exist in the same universe, haha. (although i guess the news article and his shirt means they exist in the same universe anyways, gorillaz is acknowledging that w ace)
Ok I know you get a lot of asks but can you explain this “planets in signs that are opposite its ruler are in detriment, as the expression of the planet is inhibited due to the contradicting energies. ex: moon in capricorn, sun in aquarius” a little more? Bc those are literally my placements and I’ve never heard that term before 😔😔
I’m not sure what post you’re referring to?
But breaking this down in a way that’s easier to understand would be something like this (sorry I suck ass at explaining) -
Opposite it’s ruler: all planets are “ruled” (or vice versa, the signs are ruled by the planets depending on how you look at it) by at least one sign, and these signs will have particular influence of that planet. For example, mercury is the communication and thoughtful planet, and it’s ruled by Gemini because gemini are constantly thinking and communicating in some way. So for reference
Sun - ego, confidence, consciousness, who you are when you’re feeling yourself, the best version of you.
Moon - your emotions, your subconscious, how you process things, who you are when you let your guard down, your habits. Your fears and insecurities.
Mercury - thoughts, communication, how you think and talk, what you think about, how you learn.
Venus - relationships, plantonic, family, love. How you love yourself and the world around you. How you show love. Aesthetics and beauty. How you express yourself aesthetically.
Mars - anger, sex, passion, drive, what you feel you “should” be doing. Morals. Where your fears come from, work ethic.
Jupiter - luck, karma, what you’re interested in, how you learn, travel.
Saturn - morals, judgements, intuition, worries, fears, how you operate in life and with others.
What planets the signs are ruled by and vice versus.
Aries - mars
Taurus - Venus
Gemini - mercury
Cancer - moon
Leo - sun
Virgo - mercury
Libra - venus
Scorpio - Pluto
Sagittarius - Jupiter
Capricorn - Saturn
Aquarius - Saturn
Pisces - Jupiter
But then we have to loop back around to what “opposite means” idk how to explain it lmao here’s the list (it just kinda makes sense in my brain there’s no real explanation it’s just chaos of knowledge in my mind skskks)
Aries - Libra
Taurus - Scorpio
Gemini - Sagittarius
Cancer - Capricorn
Leo - Aquarius
Virgo - Pisces
Breaking this down one more time, “the planets that are in signs opposite it’s ruler are in detriment.”
So for example:
if your Saturn was in Cancer, it would be in detriment.
If your Mercury was in Pisces it would be in detriment.
saying that the sign’s expression is inhibited basically just means that if you’re a sun Aquarius for example (because leo and Aquarius are opposites, and Leo is ruled by the sun) that means your ego, confidence and all personality traits ruled by the sun, will be stilted. You might have ego and confidence but it won’t be expressed as loudly as a Leo or it will be expressed the opposite way a Leo would express it.
*slaps hands on table* In the anime, HRE dissolves while Italy is still a child, and that was in 1806. And this also takes place in the 1800s so…did Italy just mature/grow up quickly? (Also, in the anime he's a kid at the time when of the wars too, when he asks why Spain why sad??? I know this isnt exactly based on the anime, I just have a curious mind 😅)
//The anime is based on Hima’s early ideas where the Holy Roman Empire is drafted into war and “Chibitalia”, a gender-neutral something that he came up with because “it’s cute” cries a lot. It’s very popular because it’s very sad and has childhood angst. I’m not judging people for liking it, I’m just more interested in historical hetalia, where the whole “lil-Italy-is-forced-to-work-as-a-servant” thing never happened! My blog though is based on the better researched comics Hima drew, where Feli is way older and doesn’t wear maid outfits:
This is him in the mid-1800s:
I hope this is understandable :D have a nice day anon!!
To clarify something, in case it comes up in the future, my icon:
was NOT drawn by me! I don’t remember who drew it at the moment, but they drew it based on this thing I did in Doll Divine:
I made this as an OC for the Markiplier fangame Hearts & Heroes. The person who sketched my OC was going around making sketches of everyone’s Hearts and Heroes OCs when the game came out and when Mark played it on his channel, and I was SUPER flattered when I saw it! It was so cute, and people don’t really notice me on the internet all that often, much less in a positive way like that! So I decided to make it my icon for this blog.
You dont news to say aspergers/autism, aspergers is literally just high functioning autism
Not everyone knows that they fall under the same diagnosis now. That’s a newer development. Until the words are commonly known to mean the same thing I’ll keep it on the description. Thanks for trying to clarify!
“High functioning” is a bit of an abstract concept, too, so you know, and generally just means able to speak coherently. Would anyone else like to take up the explanation of that phrase? Anyone with access to a computer and a love of infodumping?
are abilities used in battle which have music related names. They come up just
a handful of times during Homestuck’s narrative, mostly seen as Combo Attacks. Fraymotifs
are optional elements for Sburb, but it’s indicated that the troll’s used
theirs in their session and we see the Kids using them too.
As we can see they can be purchased on the Kids’ planets and
there are ‘solos’ and ‘combos’. The solo is only for one player and there are
combos for all player combinations.
A player has 3 solos and judging by the increasing prices on them they also
get more powerful from the latter.
First time we saw a combo fraymotif it was done with Dave and Jade while they
were fighting with Bec Noir on LOFAF.
we only know the names for John’s list from the shop and Adagio Redshift, and
we don’t really know what any of them do, we can only speculate. They also
appear in [S] Collide, which we have some idea of what they do or what kind of
effect they have but we don’t get names for them.
the Roxy-Rose-John combo
The 2 John-Rose combos and one of them has to be Myxolidian
Maelstrom, and Rose and Roxy are also shown to perform 2 fraymotifs
Dave and Terezi do a combo twice, both to bring back Dirk from
the dead by changing the timeline
And the Striders also perform a cool combo
— On this blog we want to create fraymotifs for your Godtier, either 1-3 solos or a combo. We give it a fancy name relevant to your Aspect and some form of music, dissect the name’s meaning, and tell you what awesomness it is capable of. Give us an ask, tell us your classpect(s), and if you want a solo from either of the three power levels (low, medium, strongest) or all three, or if you want a combo with your fellow Godtier.
OK so this post is mainly my “Everything that points to trans girl Marco theory’ series. Because some of them are basically going to seem random unless you get an explanation but I don’t want to explain on every single post.
This series is about collecting everything I can find that even in the tiniest bit points to Marco coming out at trans in the series. Everything. Even the tiny little things that have nothing to do with anything else. This includes stuff like the show showing tolerance for LGBT+ characters, or the show having a lesson about something that may be relevant.
I’ll be ranking them on a scale of 1 - 10 of importance to the theory, with 1 having little to no importance and 10 being ‘HOLY FLYING CHEESE BALLS THIS STUFF ACTUALLY MAKES ME BELIEVE IT’S GOING TO HAPPEN!!!’
There is a big difference between 1 and 10.
So if you’ve come to this explanation post after telling me that what I posted means ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to the trans Marco theory in general, then look back at the post you came from and see if I agree with you. I’ll also be tagging my posts as #bullshit evidence, #OK evidence & #real evidence, just to make it EXTRA CLEAR what I think about it.
For instance some of the stuff that I’ll put up will just be Marco acting effeminate in some way and you may be thinking that I’m just conforming to gender stereotypes or something by adding it. I urge you to go back and see how relevant I rated it.
In some of these cases I might have rated it higher than you think appropriate. In that case I encourage you to message me asking why I rated it that high, and argue with me to your heart’s content. I love getting into heated and intellectual conversations about fan theories and head cannons and I love feedback!
Finally, I’d like to emphasize that I will be posting literally anything that I think is in the slightest bit relevant in any way. Why? Because maybe something I once thought was irrelevant will turn out to be a lot more important.
hei! I'm very confused on how to read Norwegian time? It's really confusing to me, do you have any tips?? thank you :)
Well, as in English, there are two different ways of reading time, the manual and the digital.
Reading manual time:
x o’clock = klokka/klokkenx
one o’cock = klokka/klokken ett
two o’clock = klokka/klokken to
half hours (only digits up to 12)
half (past) x = halv x+1
half past twelve = halv ett
half past nine (9) = halv ti (10)
quarter hours (only digits up to 12)
a quarter to x = Kvart på x
a quarter to one = Kvart på ett
a quarter to four = Kvart på fire
a quarter past x = Kvart over x
a quarter past one = Kvart over ett
a quarter past twelve = Kvart over tolv
other times (here it gets a bit tricky!)
In Norwegian we refer to the nearest half hour when telling time, so you won’t hear many people (at least in formal settings) say things like “twenty to” or “twenty five past”. In addition, we also tend to round the numbers we say to the nearest 5 minutes, in conversation, so instead of saying “it’s eight to three” you say “it’s ten to three”. And if it’s obvious which hour you’re talking about, you can just say “five minutes to” or “quarter past”, which probably makes sense. So, how exactly do we say all of this in Norwegian?
Referring to whole hours (15> to/past)
y (minutes) to x = y (minutter) på x
five to four = fem på fire
ten to twelve = ti på tolv
y (minutes) past x = y (minutter) over x
five past eight = fem over åtte
three past one = tre over ett
Referring to half hours (15< to/past)
y (minute(s)) past x = y (minutt(er)) på halv x+1
twenty past one = ti på halv to (ten to half past one = 01:20/13:20)
twenty-five past three = fem på halv fire (five to half past three = 03:25/15:25)
y (minutes) to x = y (minutter) over halv x
twenty to twelve = ti over halv tolv (ten past half past eleven = 11:40/23:40)
twenty-nine to four = ett minutt over halv fire (one minute past half past three = 03:31/15:31)
When reading a manual clock (and using the constructions mentioned above) you will only be using the numbers up to 12 when referring to hours.
Reading a digital clock
This occurs exactly like in English:
one thirty = én tretti = 01:30/13:30
five oh five = fem null fem / fem over fem = 5:05/17:05
So uhh a lot has asked me why Professor Ursula’s name means Bear Bear.
Ursula is a variant form of Ursa Major the constellation which means “Big Bear”.
Callistis is a variant form of Callisto which means the “fairest one”. Her story says she was turned into (you guessed it) a bear by either Zeus to escape his wife’s wrath or Hera herself. When she died, she was placed among the stars along with her son Arcas (Zeus’ the father). Aka Ursa Minor the “Little Bear”.
Soooo in the end her cover name is just derived from one person who’s life was fated to be in a metamorphosis state of bears.
To the anon that has a hard time explaining their ADHD: I often explain to people that my brain with ADHD is like having a tv and radio on all at once inside a movie theater and everyone is talking during the movie on top of that.
