BBC Books Announces River Song Novel ‘The Ruby’s Curse’ by Alex Kingston

Our favorite time-travelling archaeologist River Song is back for a new Doctor Who adventure in a solo novel The Ruby’s Curse. The novel is written by Alex Kingston herself and will be released on May 20, 2021. The story will also feature the private detective Melody Malone, River Song’s alter-ego.

The Ruby’s Curse is published by BBC Books and the synopsis of the novel is already available:

“She’s got ice in her heart and kiss on her lips…

1939, New York. River Song, author of the Melody Malone Mysteries, is forced to find a reality-altering weapon, the Eye of Horus. River doesn’t believe in curses – but is she wrong?

From the top-security confines of Stormcage to the barbarism of first-century Egypt, River battles to find the Eye of Horus before its powers are used to transform the universe. To succeed, she must team up with a most unlikely ally – her own fictional alter ego, Melody. And together they must solve another mystery: Is fiction changing into fact – or is fact changing into fiction?”

Alex Kingston first played River Song on Doctor Who in the 2008 Silence in the Library/Forest of the Dead episodes during the Tenth Doctor era and did regular appearances on the show during Matt Smith’s tenure on the show. Kingston’s last appearance on the show so far was in the 2015 episode The Husbands of River Song. The actress also reprises regularly her role in the Big Finish audio dramas series The Diary of River Song.

OMG?!

The hilarious thing about reading the Doctor Who novels/short stories/audiobooks is that you can ALWAYS tell which part of the fandom the author comes from:

Ex:

The Stone Rose : Ten/Rose shipper

The Clockwise Man : Nine fan. Probably low key enjoys whump

The Glamour Chase : Really thinks Rory doesn’t get enough attention

The Monsters Inside: Nine/Rose, thinks Rose is extremely clever, also probably enjoys whump. (What is it with Nine and whump?)

The Night of the Whisper: BIG Nine/Rose shipper

Like seriously they’re just elevated fanfic writers
