Me in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey when there’s no fall damage
rational brain: i know that gay women are far more likely to be included in games than gay men because lesbian relationships are still seen as inherently sexual and still appeal to the straight male gaze that games are marketed through. meaning that the representation of lgbt women in games is almost always disingenuous and not made for or by lgbt women. this is not only harmful to women but also excuses the homophobia lgbt men face in gaming because people can point to these instances of “inclusion” to pretend that they don’t still view gay men as wrong and unnatural and gay women only as objects for sexual pleasure
my stupid lesbian brain: girls?????? in love???? in video games???😍😍😍 happy pride month 🌈🌈👌
My favourite thing about Assassin’s Creed Origins so far is that when travelling through the desert you can start to hallucinate and see mirages
So far I’ve seen a dead tree burst into flames and when I approached it the flames disappeared
I’ve seen and followed a lone rider who would seemingly teleport between the sand dunes before disappearing
I’ve been riding for a while and suddenly been overwhelmed by a storm of locusts which soon disappeared to blue skies
I’ve also strangely heard shouting voices and fighting as if I was in the middle of a battleground but I’m completely alone in the middle of nowhere
It’s honestly such a nice touch and I can’t wait to find more!
Things change. I get that.
It’s the fact that they had been upgraded to be the main modern day protagonists in Syndicate, getting to lead the story all by themselves without Desmond, only to be completely removed from the series straight after.
It’s the fact that they had their characters expanded, between Shaun’s speech about living up to Desmond’s memory and Rebecca’s comments about her cousin who could be a Sage etc, only for it to lead nowhere.
It’s the fact that the last time we saw them, Rebecca was bleeding out in Shaun’s arms after taking a bullet for him, proving the depth of their devotion to one another and showing their relationship in it’s most raw form ever, only for us to never see the follow up.
It’s the fact that it’s been 3 years since we last saw them, and the fact that the ONLY time we’ve even heard of them since was a few brief pages of a Last Descendants novel.
It’s the fact that they had been staple characters from AC2 onwards, appearing in every game except Rogue (and Unity for Rebecca) but being referenced in the games they weren’t in, appearing frequently throughout Initiates, being given some of the Assassins most important missions, being on Sigma Team’s most wanted list, and generally being vital to the Brotherhood, only to disappear without a trace.
It’s the fact that they were important characters who were with us for 6 years, in all different forms of AC media, and who we felt attached to, and Ubisoft thinks it’s acceptable to leave them lying on the floor of a London vault forever with no resolution to their story.
It’s the fact they helped save the world, and they don’t receive an ounce of credit for it.
It’s the fact that they deserve better. And I won’t rest until they get it.
I want to point out that this isn’t just about a bunch of WLW who are pissed Kassandra ended up with a man. The issue here is Ubisoft literally marketed this game as being a change of formula where we would make the decisions. They literally said you could play through the entire game with Kassandra or Alexios being with only one sex and there is even different ending choices in the base game. That is now broken.
I am Bisexual, but only interested in women romantically. The way I played Kassandra, she would have never married a man and had a child. With the way they chose to present this game it should have been a choice, PERIOD.
