Somebody told me the other day the taking an ‘arrow in the knee’ actually meant getting married, as in 'taking a knee’ to propose to your loved one.
I just thought that all these poor guards had been in an unfortunate incident involving archers and the resulting injury had prevented them from further adventuring.
It does explain why so many had got it in the knee though, surely all those arrows flying about would have hit body parts other than the knee. And none of them ever seemed to have a limp either…
Man, do I feel stupid now.
