  4. Golden Iguana sunning on coral rock wall by jungle mama Important to know: Iguanas are capable of severely injuring people, other animals and themselves when their body language messages are not recognized. Most iguanas clearly sign that trouble is ahead. They nod their head and wave their dewlap side to side.

The dewlap is a fold of loose skin hanging from the neck or throat of an animal, like a cow. Iguanas use their dewlap to communicate. First, an extended dewlap can simply be a greeting. An extended dewlap is often used to say hello to another creature during mating and most generally as a territorial sign. Second, it can be a form of protection. A threatened iguana may extend its dewlap to intimidate a predator into thinking it is much larger than it is. Third, an extended dewlap may be a sign that the iguana is trying to adjust its temperature. An extended dewlap on an iguana basking in the sun is quite normal. It may be catching sun to warm up or catching a breeze to cool off. So it’s important to consider “the big picture” when reading an Iguana’s body language.

Finally!- some refs for Vayla’s first armor set she wears early on in D1.

After the Iron Lords had faded into legend, before becoming a Vanguard agent or a noble Iron Lady, Vayla was a Peacekeeper, a Guardian who swore to protect the interior of the City and its citizens. She admired the selflessness of their Sentinel Commanders, some of the most respected Titans in the City, and swore that she would follow in their footsteps. Vayla earned her badges of honor among the Peacekeepers- their signature greaves and the Sentinel’s mark- and wore them with pride. Even after her indoctrination, she trained day and night to perfect tactics and defensive techniques to stay ever vigilant of threats that could do the City harm. Little did she know that the first enemy she had to face came from within the City, not outside it.

The stressful environment and bloody division among civilians and Guardians alike during the Faction Wars tested her resolve in many ways. It changed how she saw her role in protecting the City, the people she safeguarded, and what it meant to be a Titan in the days following the Wars.
