Tabi | 24 | Eh, I basically just post random stuff about whatever i'm currently obsessed with

"Barbie's not supposed to be aspirational"

Barbie went to the moon before anyone else.

The moon landing was 1969.

Barbie went to the moon in 1965.

A decade before women could own credit cards in the US.

She has had over 200 careers from fashion designer to software engineer.

Barbie was the first doll marketed to children that wasn't a baby doll.

Her first dream houses didn't have kitchens to show there was other things girls could be interested in.

Barbie was always meant to be aspirational.

To show little girls that they could be anything they wanted to be.

And I for one will not stand for this slander of Barbara Millicent Roberts.

i didn't have "i'm broken" teenage asexual angst i had "i'm literally being the only reasonable one about this concept and the rest of you are behaving like fucking freaks" perception issues

Barbie 🤝 The Lego Movie

A toy begins to question the nature of their initially seemingly-perfect reality and must travel to the real world to heal the rift between a parent and child and also Will Ferrell is there.

It’s important to recognise that Barbie (2023) criticises both the patriarchy AND the matriarchy. Yes, the Ken’s are just accessories to the Barbies. Yes, they don’t have any say in the government they live under. That’s the point, you’re supposed to feel awful, you’re supposed to want the Kens to have their own agency, you’re supposed to want equality. The Barbie movie explicitly states that the way Barbie treats Ken is wrong, so much so that once he finds a safe space for his masculinity and individual identity he’s so excited to share it with the other Kens.

But they go overboard and replace a matriarchy with a patriarchy and now the same issue exists but in reverse. That’s the POINT!! THATS THE POINT!!! Barbie is not anti-men it’s pro equality PLEASE understand this

The Hunger Games trilogy from Peeta’s perspective really is the most insane genie level wish fulfillment I’ve ever heard. He gets the love of his life, marries her, has babies with her, and in the process starts a revolution and it only cost him his leg, his sanity, and his whole family.

love is not as transient and conditional as some of you guys think it is. when people tell you they care about you, they don’t change their mind ten minutes later because you said something weird or annoying. the people that love you will still love you when you do things that upset them. love doesn’t instantly disappear like that

“You've no right to starve people, to punish them for no reason. No right to take away their life and freedom. Those are things everyone is born with, and they're not yours for the taking. Winning a war doesn't give you that right. Having more weapons doesn't give you that right. Being from the Capitol doesn't give you that right. Nothing does.”
