The helmet discourse continuing has been funny but also lol wow abled people really do just think they're invincible. "I don't fall/I know how to land/my balance is perfect and city cruiser bikes rarely fall!" Until you do? It takes one injury to permanently change how you live your life and what you are able to do.
Catching a rock or a puddle or trash at the wrong angle ; getting surprised by a small animal or child ; loose clothing caught in a rotating part ; losing your balance to an accidental overexertion ; that is all it takes for your bike to tip and your you to land on asphalt or concrete. If you land on your head, or your hip, or your knee, or your ankle, or your wrist, you have a high chance of losing functionality in that joint or getting a TBI, even at low speeds.
Your flesh prison is not immortal and there is a reason doctors and parents and all sorts of health advisory boards recommend helmets and knee pads and wrist braces. The damage can be, and is more often than not, permanently affecting. You are susceptible to permanent bodily damage.
I experienced two low speed on foot falls and my body's ability has been permanently changed, my fingers that I bent back in both cases are arthritic and in one of them the way I landed did something to my spine that has never reversed. And both of those falls happened when I was 19-20. Youth doesn't save you.
