Whenever there's a crime or trouble That no one can solve at all it seems That's when they come And on the double Sylvester & Tweety Penis Mysteries It may be day or night, whenever Conditions are right for them to flee Somehow it still all fits together Sylvester & Tweety Penis Mysteries If there's a full moon An old house with rotten stairs Just look around you! Chances are we'll be there! Someday I'll eat that darn canary And then I'll be happy, yes, sirree But Hector thinks you should be wary. Sylvester & Tweety Penis Mysteries The chase goes on with each new mission With backdrops a-plenty globally And through it all they're in contention Sylvester & Tweety Penis Mysteries

i FEEL like some of glados characterization is lost when the jokes about her circle around fitting the "dommy step on me sexy + intelligent + evil/cruel" archetype not like she isnt evil or intelligent or sexy but i do think i greatly enjoy her character more when i get to remember she is a little silly. she is mean and cruel by making up the most elaborate and stupid sounding insults ever. she has an extreme grudge against you which she insists shes not mad about while mentioning the fact every two minutes. shes madly obsessed with a woman who never responded to a word shes ever said. most of the shit she says is just straight up ridiculous. shes constantly battling intense feelings of loneliness while refusing to admit to anyone she could ever want company or affection. she is described by the creators as "throwing fits like an angry child". glados IS a little bit pathetic and silly and a very funny and very sad character. shes a woman of multitudes

Feminism isn't "Women vs Men"

Feminism is "Us vs The Patriarchy"

And "Us" includes everyone.

the patriarchy is the men btw.

No, it's not. The patriarchy is a system. Women can also enforce the patriarchy. Women can be and often are misogynistic and sexist.

Understanding the difference between a hierarchical system and individual human beings should be feminism 101.

👆🏼👆🏼👆🏼👆🏼👆🏼

Anyone who thinks the patriarchy is just men haven't seen how hard moms can enforce it.

Forever LOLing at the idea that Sansa inherited her interest in fashion...

…from Catelyn.

Sansa’s POVs almost always begin with a description her carefully picked-out outfit. She also pays much mind to what others are wearing.

Catelyn details her own clothes maybe two or three times in the entire series. She also rarely go into what others are wearing*.

You know who does mentions what they’re wearing in nearly evey POV chapter? Ned.

You know who’s POV noted what exact shade of green Cersei was wearing when she arrived in Winterfell? Remembered the fine detail of the golden stags Renly liked to embroider in his capes and doublets? Explained to us the modest colours and small mockingbird pin that Littlefinger affects when Renly is teasing Baelish’s plain clothes when really the teasing should have been enough to illustrate that Littlefinger doesn’t like ostentatious clothes, but I guess the details and fabrics of court worth mentioning anyways? Fucking Ned.

Ned kinda thinks dismissively about showy dress, but he that doesn’t mean he doesn’t care about fashion. His own personal taste is just more polished and subtle**, which serves the narrative function of highlighting the wasteful pomp of King’s Landing. Someone who doesn’t care about fashion period, probs wouldn’t have noted these differences at all.

Sansa totes inherited her fashinonista ways from Ned, guys.

*[aside: tbh the only time I explicitly remember Cat going into detail about others’ clothes is when meeting Roslin Frey, whom she notes is wearing a fine light blue and delicate lacey dress. You could argue she only even noted this for practical reasons; Roslin is marrying her brother politically and Cat is instantly measuring the Frey’s motives behind this by assesing how well they’ve bothered to present the bride. Cat is actually far more ‘meh’ of the trappings of traditional noblewoman-dom than we give her credit for: she’s not snobby or uncomfortable talking to smallfolk, getting upset at Edmure for not remembering the name of the old village woman who gave them treats as kids. She directly challenges Robb for unconsciously thinking that daughter are less important than sons. In AGOT, she’s all ‘fuck modesty’ when walking naked around Maester Luwin (I mean, he delivered all her babies, he’s seen it all so what’s the point of airs???). long aside done]

**(I remember a lotta greys and silvers, but with nifty capes and belts. Smoky chic, ned!)

Think about it this way: just because Ned Stark dresses in an understated manner doesn’t mean he’s ignorant of fashion.

It means he’s intimately aware of it, and knows its merit as symbolism. He wears a lot of grey, silver, brown, green and dark blue–true, these are all colours you can get from period-accurate plant-based dyes native to sub-Arctic climates (with the exception of the silver), but they’re also specifically colours you can get from a sub-Arctic climate. His outfits are then accessorized with silver, leather or furs–all natural materials easily accessible to the Commons.

A surface level reading would say “Ned Stark dresses in dull colours and and dresses in the same fabric as the commons; ergo, he must not care for fashion”. That would probably be inaccurate.

A slightly more nuanced reading says “Ned Stark dresses in a mature and understated manner as befitting his role as Warden of the North and Stark in Winterfell”. This would be correct, but a slightly deeper reading would be:

“Ned Stark is consummately conscious of his role both as the Warden of the North+Lord of Winterfell, but also very aware of the fact that he was meant to be the Spare, not the Heir. Consequently, he would have started dressing in a dignified and understated manner in order to assume the mantle of the position and present an image of strength and sobriety, and since the Stark’s ARE the North, he elects to use materials from the North in order to represent that to the people he has been privileged to protect.”

The books are less clear, but if you look at the show, the Stark Family fashions are actually pretty similar to those worn by the rest of the Winterfell residents; the higher up the food chain, the better the quality and construction and the less utilitarian the outfit, but they’re still the same materials and general fashion.

Sansa, for example, wears a fancier version of Jeyne Poole’s dress (Poole being a vassal House of some degree of respect, given that they’re Castellans of Winterfell), and Jeyne’s dress is likely a fancier version of Beth Cassel’s (Cassel being a slightly less high vassal house, though still one of some regard given the Cassel’s role as Master of Arms), and I’d wager it goes down from there.

Unlike the Lannister siblings, all of whom dress ostentatiously as a show of power and wealth, the Starks are much more reserved–which ties into the fact that the Starks are essentially THE North and their ethos that the pack survives: you can see their regard for their people in the fact that Ned shares his table with a different vassal every night in order to connect with them. If he dresses like them, he connects with them and thus they are more likely to feel represented and contented.

Essentially, if you read it thusly, Ned’s essentially waging a PR campaign whether he knows it or not.

If you want to compare apples and apples, compare TYWIN and Ned; they’re both extremely understated dressers, but the motivations are completely different (and it shows through their sartorial choices).

So yes, long story short, I can definitely see Sansa inheriting her love of fashion from her dad. She just has a teenager’s taste; I’m sure by the time she’s grown, may she be so fortunate, she’ll settle back down to her palette of blue and grey wool with silvers and furs.

Dear sci-fi people:

  • Intergalactic means between galaxies
  • Interstellar means between star systems
  • Interplanetary means between planets

A conflict which is entirely confined to one galaxy and only fought by powers from that galaxy, over control of that galaxy, is not intergalactic

Ok nerd

Climate denialism in the netherlands is so fucking funny like. Bro the floods. They’re coming

There’s a natural ice-skating event where you tour through 11 cities in Friesland (one of the northern provinces) that’s scarily close to celebrating it’s 30 year anniversary of not being held at all on account of the lack of thick natural ice. It’s been like a solid 5 years since i’ve seen any amount of snow. Bro there’s no snow anymore. I REMEMBER THERE BEING SNOW AND IT’S NOT THERE ANYMORE BRO

Bro i don’t know september heatwaves used to not be a thing! It used to be cold and rainy in september just 10 years ago!

The government can’t help it because oil corpo dick is just that good

We've got dry seasons. We used to not have dry seasons. EVER.
