Hi

@sylvanandgold

dark and brooding guy with horrible regrets yells "I HAVE BLOOD ON MY HANDS!" in a moment of vulnerability but theres a cutaway transition where hes at a state fair eating a banana and he throws the peel over his shoulder and the tilt-a-whirl operator slips on it causing him to fall on the controls and shift it into a skull and crossbones setting called OVERDRIVE and the tilt-a-whirl spins so fast it lifts off the ground and carries the people away screaming

im about to post a spotify link *everyone dissipates into a cloud of smoke and tumbleweeds start rolling in* *crickets migrate in fear of being seen near me*

'recovering' or 'healing' by starting to hate your former self + shame or mock others for being the way you used to be isn't actually very healing. you can acknowledge + be grateful that you have changed without transferring all your self hatred/shame onto others.

it makes me so mad/sad to see the new trend of 'recovery posts' on here that are like "it's so embarrassing to not be trying to better yourself" or "i can't believe i used to just wallow in my room all day + burden everyone else with my problems" like where is the compassion in that? where did you learn to hate your suffering self so intensely? self-hatred is never going to be a radical or healing praxis + bootstraps bullshit is still bootstraps bullshit when you put a cutesy mental health tag on it.

in 1820, anything beyond pennsylvania was still "the south". nowadays NoVa barely even counts. most of florida certainly doesn't. by 2450, "the south" will be a narrow strip from savannah to shreveport. the last good barbecue recipe will be in the hands of a tiny enclave of primitive baptists, hidden in the fens of the okefenokee national wildlife refuge.

I used to think that love was obsession but now I understand it’s more like hey. Let me help you with those. You don’t have to carry all of this by yourself anymore.

This is just my 2¢ as a nonbinary person but I genuinely think that cis people's gender is just as constructed as trans people's. Cis people love to accuse us of having making up genders or artificially modifying our appearance but....the entire makeup, fashion, diet, workout, and haircare industry exists so that cis people can maintain the illusion of two entirely distinct genders with no overlap.

Everybody is constantly doing drag, all the time

Choupatte (Little), 2003

Copper. 12.5 x 13.0 x 12.0cm

Now my eyes know this is possible and my brain doesn't know what to do about it. Thank you, art.

Ahh! So, my French is not the best, but I can clearly tell from the construction of the title AND the stance of the Beastie that its name is a pun. I see Chou = cabbage/endearment, choupette = sweetie, Patte = paw or possibly in this context animal foot (?)

Imagine waiting for the coast guard or whatever to show up and instead a replica of 18th century merchant ship pulls up and tows you to the coast.

pov: you’ve been transported to the 17th century

I'm crying. Here's a photo of a sailor from the Götheborg watching over the little sailboat in tow:

From the story:

We repeatedly emphasized that we were aboard a small 8-meter sailboat, but the response was the same each time: "We are a 50-meter three-masted sailboat, and we offer our assistance in towing you to Paimpol." We were perplexed by the size difference between our two boats, as we feared being towed by a boat that was too large and at too fast a speed that could damage our boat. The arrival of the Götheborg on the scene was rapid and surprising, as we did not expect to see a merchant ship from the East India Company of the XVIII century. This moment was very strange, and we wondered if we were dreaming. Where were we? What time period was it? The Götheborg approached very close to us to throw the line and pass a large rope. The mooring went well, and our destinies were linked for very long hours, during which we shared the same radio frequency to communicate with each other. The crew of the Götheborg showed great professionalism and kindness towards us. They adapted their speed to the size of our boat and the weather conditions. We felt accompanied by very professional sailors. Every hour, the officer on duty of the Götheborg called us to ensure everything was going well.[...] This adventure, very real, was an incredible experience for us. We were extremely lucky to cross paths with the Götheborg by chance and especially to meet such a caring crew. Dear commander and crew of the Götheborg, your kindness, and generosity have shown that your ship is much more than just a boat. It embodies the noblest values of the sea, and we are honored to have had the chance to cross your path and benefit from your help.

"Our destinies were linked for very long hours" is just knocking me out.
