Throw logic out the door and do the impossible

Paintings from artist Scott Listfield’s recent exhibition “Franchise,” which was on display last month at Gallery 1988 in Los Angeles, California.  The brilliant series depicts the iconic signage of fast food institutions (as well as sly references to “Bob’s Burgers,” “Star Wars,” and Netflix’s “Stranger Things” among others) being rediscovered by Listfield’s ever-wandering astronaut in a distant, dystopian future.

Between August 25th and September 3rd, 2017 the city of Worcester, Massachusetts was treated to POW! WOW!, an international mural festival that seeks to enliven communities through large scale murals, artist talks, exhibitions, concerts and more.

“I am so proud of the transformational impact POW WOW! Worcester has had on our city. For the ten days of POW WOW Worcester we were also able to bring people together to celebrate different kinds of art and culture. Moving forward, the murals, including more than 14 murals covering nearly every wall at one school, will have a lasting impact on Worcester and its residents,” said POW WOW! Worcester Director Jessica Walsh. “I am so grateful to members of the community who came out to be a part of this, the artists who have left a piece of themselves in the city, as well as our sponsors who recognized the importance of public art and everyone who worked so hard to make this a reality.”

Continue below to see hundreds of incredible photographs of the artists at work and their completed murals, you can also check out Worcester’s website for the mural locations and more:
