The State Duma is discussing changes to the Criminal Code that will allow for imprisonment for up to 15 years for “fake information” about the activities of the Russian army. This law may be passed in forthcoming legislative sessions on March 4th, 9th and 10th [all Russian legislation must go through three readings before it is passed]. If the law is passed, it is probable that people will be criminally prosecuted for any information about the war in Ukraine that does not correspond with the official position of the Russian state.
