@swolerbear

deleted because the old blog didn't feel like me any more. i've changed a lot. gender is whatever, pronouns are not really important. this is the only place i feel free to say what i am going through, so even if i am inactive through times, i will probably never leave lmao

TERFs really want you to believe they're protecting cis gay people and meanwhile the biggest push right now for organizations like LGB Alliance is to *checks notes* keep conversion therapy legal

over forty organizations signed this and sent it to the UN. a totally normal and rational ideology.

TERFs are really mad about this post

you literally cannot have a personal tumblr or TERFs will assume you're pushing an agenda and need to debate them at will. I posted two unrelated things talking about how weird and homophobic their movement is, things the could easily google themselves, and the notes are full of them screaming for a source and or acting like I am trying to say this document is proof of them trying to push conversion therapy rather than just me continuing to talk about how weird and homophobic they are on my own personal blog.

really rational and normal movement they have here

I mean look at all of this bullshit LGB Alliance says in order to justify not wanting to ban conversion therapy. Their conclusion is really "well torture is already illegal so why do we need a ban? It's a conspiracy by trans people to force the world to not be transphobic, that's what it is" absolutely ridiculous.

At one point in this thread, this man really says "11./ The problem for the campaign was that in the Western world today it's unthinkable a licensed therapist would use "shaming, emotionally traumatic or physically painful stimuli” to try to change someone's gender identity or sexual orientation. So is there a need for a ban?" like ???? Lmaoooo what planet are you living on?????

But this is the same man that also believes gay people politely asked for rights and got them

Imagine being so transphobic that you a) completely misunderstand the affirmation model and b) you think Britain is more homophobic than transphobic, it could never be me

This is why I don't provide sources to reactionaries. Because even when I do as I did here, they claim I'm lying and then block me so I can't respond lmao

It feels like they pulled this meme in their campaign

Since this post is making the rounds again, I just want to reiterate that Dr Kenneth Zucker - the man who TERFs say isn't doing conversion therapy and GCs like Jesse Singal write bullshit fluff pieces defending him - was very much doing conversion therapy.

forget followers vs following ratios, the new shit is followers vs verified followers

i actually don't know shit about twitter but this seems like the type of thing that they would care about

forget followers vs following ratios, the new shit is followers vs verified followers

The current terf media darling (and the woman jk rowling went mask off for) is on twitter showing the whole world that terf ideology is blatantly ludicrous at its very core by claiming a judge didn't say something and then posting proof of him saying verbatim the thing she claims he didn't say

This woman is seen as a leader and warrior in terf circles

It's always funny when reactionaries come for you and insist you're lying until you provide solid evidence that they can't refute, and suddenly they disappear

I am glad that that reblog I wrote about scientology is going around because honestly, it's terrible how it's seen as a wacky cult that believes in aliens and not an extremely dangerous, extremely abusive cult. I think that this is changing rapidly thanks to the work of a lot of ex-Scientologists, but unfortunately the church has a lot of money in a country where money can buy you whatever you want.

I know way too much about the abuses of scientology, I'm low-key a little obsessed, and even then there's so much I don't know. I just know more than the average person.

here's your memorial day reminder that 98% of american soldiers who have died has done so pointlessly. their lives were cut short and wasted for nothing. they didn't "die for their country", they didn't gain any glory, they got killed, and their blood got cold and dried up on the ground, and their mother wept, their family grieved, and it was all for nothing. And not only did they die for nothing. Many of them killed for nothing. Millions have also died pointlessly at the hands of these soldiers and the generals that give the orders. Millions have died to ensure the political and economic dominance of the American state.

I don't know what the point of this post is. War and death for empire is pointless, and isn't that sad?

i'm convinced no one actually believes in scientology and the entire cult is just an excuse for weird celebs and other generally powerful individuals to exploit and hurt people in private. please tell me i'm not insane and someone else has considered this

OK GLAD I'M NOT ALONE

also @ people in the replies who said there may be some people who genuinely believe it's a path to success: this could be possible, but the fact that it can cost a TON to be fully involved and multi millionaire celebrities are gives me a different idea. like, even if you end up believing in scientology, you couldn't do much about it without lots of resources, because while the first courses aren't too expensive, to make your way up to what they call "the bridge of freedom" (discussed in the first article I linked) you need to have a good amount of cash, and enough to keep spending thousands. ex members have said they ended up spending millions eventually.

who knows, some celebrities could actually fully believe in scientology--I mean, fame isn't exactly great for your mental health--but it seems like more of a secretive business to me. could be a bit of both. super sketchy regardless. it would be great if people stopped shoving this shit aside as a joke and fully investigate the operation.

ALSO, the thing that makes me most suspicious about scientology in particular aside from other money-hungry cults is the amount of high profile celebs involved. why scientology specifically?

Scientology is essentially capitalism as a religion if you break down their belief structures. The reason why abuse is so prevalent in scientology is specifically because people do believe in it. It's a prison of belief. You are taught that anything bad that happens to you is your fault, and therefore when David Miscavige beats your ass, you deserve it. There are people right now being held captive in a double wide and tortured, but as people who have left scientology have testified, if you tried to free these people they would stay specifically because they believe they deserved to be there. Mike Rinder was once released from "The Hole" long enough to deal with a PR problem in which a reporter asked him about reports that he was personally being beaten by David Miscavige, and he lied about it to protect the man who beat him.

There is a "training routine" in Scientology called "bull baiting" in which an instructor will scream things at you in order to create a reaction in you, at which point you fail the training. They will make note of the buttons that cause a reaction and purposefully push them. According to Leah Remini, this training routine results in situations such as a fully grown man screaming at a twelve year old girl that he wants to rape her. This is regular practice by the church of scientology, this is them training you to both accept abuse and also dish it out.

The fact that "the bridge to total freedom" is so cost prohibitive is also part of scientology's systemic abuse. The SeaOrg exists as a way to get what is essentially slave labor. Scientology children are especially encouraged to join SeaOrg (and in fact you are allowed to join as a minor, that's a whole other messy topic). Higher education is actively discouraged in scientology, and the vast majority of SeaOrg recruits come from scientology schools in which recruiters are a heavy presence. Members of the sea org work 365 days a year from 8am to midnight and make at most $50 a week. In return, they are given scientology training for free, the thing you're supposed to need in order to attain spiritual enlightenment.

The reason it appeals to celebrities is because L Ron Hubbard specifically wrote about trying to capture them. Celebrities are love bombed and told they're successful because they're good, spiritually sound people. Everything about scientology is just reinforcement of capitalist themes, that rich people are rich because they're better and poor people are poor because of spiritual flaws or whatever.

So, yes, plenty of people do believe in scientology, and that's why it's so much more dangerous than it appears. The whacky beliefs about Xenu are nothing. Scientology is actually horrifying in every way imaginable.

there was genuinely no point in me providing evidence on that conversion therapy post because it's now circulating terf Tumblr again with super embarrassing additions like "op got slam dunked!" It's easy to pretend that TERFs don't oppose a ban on conversion therapy when you think trans people existing is a form of conversion therapy

Once again I am left wondering what would happen if I turned anon on right now

So guys, I hate to ask this but I’m in desperate need of some help. I recently escaped an abusive living situation and am on a friend’s couch. I’m extremely broke and am currently applying for jobs, food stamps, and student loans to live in a dorm at my college. My friends don’t have very much money and I can’t mooch off of them forever so if you could Venmo me just a little bit of money for groceries I’d feel extremely blessed. Even just a couple bucks could go a long way, or if you can’t donate, could you reblog so that others might? My Venmo is mallikanne98. Thanks in advance ❤️

it's funny how I went from "family above everything" to "god I can't wait for a few months from now when my family lives several hours away from me so I can breathe for once"

This is a total exaggeration because i am pissed but honestly my parents are the worst people for my mental health ATM and expect me to support them financially as a single parent

hey, hey mom? How am I supposed to pay my rent, your bills, and feed my child? I guess im just not eating

a white tumblr user telling another white tumblr user that white people are forcing communism on brown people is... something.

Gratitude - Tidying Up With Marie Kondo (2019)

I am still not over how much of the criticisms leveled at Marie Kondo are just people viewing her through a white lens and refusing to consider the possibility that she has a completely different sociocultural perspective that matters within the context of what she's trying to say
