Actually? Today, you watch my favorite TF2 video ever, all 35 seconds of it.
Alright, so:
Our POV is a RED Soldier, and he’s rolling out, or in other words, he’s just coming out from spawn after dying.
This is what he sees on the Progress Bar. This means that someone in RED is capturing the final point needed to win the round. But there’s a problem! You can also see that two players (or one player worth two for the purposes of capturing points, such as the Scout class) are capturing back the previous point! Two players (or a Scout) capture faster than one, and if that RED point gets captured, the last point immediately becomes protected and you can’t capture, essentially saving themselves and possibly bringing it back.
Our protagonist Soldier is, however, having none of it.
As soon as he steps out, he Rocket Jumps, but you might notice that it is no regular Rocket Jump! Typically, a Rocket Jump sends you a great distance vertically, not horizontally. See, he did an advanced version of the Rocket Jump where you shoot a wall at an angle to propel yourself forward. This is hard. He then follows this hard angled Rocket Jump with several extensions, known as Surfing. He keeps shooting in such a precise way downwards that he keeps building momentum going forward. This is very hard. He then reached the wall and does another angled Rocket Jump while surfing, with no time to second guess the shot. This is EXTREMELY difficult and precise. He nails it, and is sent flying right towards the point that BLU is capturing. If you go into a point that the enemy is trying to capture, you Defend it, halting all progress on it until they remove you from the point. He held onto the point JUST long enough, midair, after doing this incredibly complex and precise chain of Rocket Jumps, to Defend the point to prevent it from being captured, affording his teammates storming the final BLU point JUST enough time, down to the millisecond, to capture it and thus win the round.
It is an absolutely mental play. He defended the second to last point by flying there from the other side of the map at top speed like a defensive angel.
