Anyways I’m listening to debut and “you cry, but you don’t tell anyone that you might not be the golden one” and “I’ve never been a natural, all I do is try, try, try” and “told me all of my cages were mental, so I got wasted like all my potential” and “all the young things line up to take your place / another name is up in lights, you wonder if you’ll make it out alive” and “but the rain is always gonna come if you’re standing with me” and “I’m like a monster on the hill, slowly lurching towards your favorite city, pierced through the heart but never killed” she writes a lot about a deep seated feeling of inadequacy that I feel like is very much overlooked
the midnights era is gone but i need some time to get over it.

one of the many things that's so amazing about taylor as a performer is that she can do the big pop spectacle thing with pyro and dancers and sets and costumes and whatever else she dreams up but she never uses those as crutches, and she never gets lost in the production. and then when it's just her and a guitar you realize she could do a whole show that way if she wanted to
The fact that Aaron was there to play it with her, Tampa really had it all tonight
“Jut coming back here to check on how this gorgeous back section of the stadium is doing! Well, good. This is the part of the show that honestly is just, it’s such a fun one for me, because it’s you and me and this very intimate venue, singing a song together. And it’s a different one every night—it’s actually a different two every night—which is fun, and also terrifying for me, but mostly fun. And I think that I would just like to start by saying that I, in the last couple of years discovered sort of like the collaborator version of a soulmate. I met a guy named Aaron Dessner, and he’s so incredibly brilliant. We have made so much music together in the last couple years—it’s actually ridiculous how much music we have made together. We started with folklore, then went onto evermore, and he’s been so helpful with the re-records we’re doing. And we are so lucky tonight, Tampa, Florida, because Aaron Dessner is here! Look at him! It’s a long walk so you’ve got to keep going. Wanna say hi to them? [AD: Are you guys watching the greatest performer on earth do the greatest show of all time? You are so lucky?] That’s so nice, that was a nice thing to say. We wanted to perform a song for you that we did together that’s cool. And you know, this song really took on a new meaning when you guys made enough jokes about how you tried to get tickets for this tour, and it felt like surviving The Great War?”

self-care masterpost: clean speeches edition
(psa 1: this was inspired by Kara’s aka tasyoungreckless tumblr post, I just thought it might be cool to add a few more to the list
psa 2: I also included video links to the speeches if I could find them because I personally feel Taylor’s words more if I’m watching a video)

I’m enchanted to announce my next tour: Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour, a journey through the musical eras of my career (past and present!).
Midnights is for the girls who worked hard to get a life of their own, but now feel empty, it's the album you listen to when you're alone in the kitchen with no partner to cook with, no friends to go out with, no parents to comfort you. It's for the jo march girls, who gave up everything and everyone and pretend like it's alright but cry themselves to sleep every night, it's for the girls who stare at the ceiling for hours after coming home, it's for the masterminds, the people pleasers, for the girls who think they're unlovable, it's for the autumn/winter girls, it's for the girls who love rain and gloom, it's for the girls who read the most gut wrenching books to feel emotions, it's the ultimate sad girl album.
