i guess the thing for me is that like. if you want to put an end to domestic abuse you have to be open to rethinking prisons, wage labour and the family unit. like if you're gonna drill down and really get to grips with what abuse and compulsion actually mean and prevent them wherever they arise, then that puts a lot of how our society is organised under scrutiny.

i'll exemplify. we have a society where it is acceptable to have an employment relationship that makes people think "well i don't want to be here, but because of economic forces i am forced to be comply". as long as we have that sort of society, we will also have romantic and sexual relationships where people think "well i don't want to be here, but because of economic forces i am forced to comply".

it's the same thing! we consider it acceptable for the market to force people to do things they don't want to do. that's the basis of our present society. and as long as that is the basis of our society, we will have situations where the market forces women to stay with their shitty boyfriends.

my controversial opinion is that sexualizing fat bodies isnt a bad thing bc a major part of fatphobia and self hate is this idea that fat people are ugly and unfuckable

like we can talk all about tolerance and respect but like, if people are still commonly believing that being fat makes you less desirable, that matters whether we want to acknowledge sexuality or not

like, I've seen various people in fat fetish communities ask the question "why does this make me feel better about my body but normal body positivity doesnt?"

and its bc a lot of normal body positivity is framed as "its ok that your body is terrible. we can lower beauty standards to the point where everyone is hot. obesity is a deformity and i have sympathy for you the way i would for any sick or disabled person."

and no one is actually inspired by that! No one can live with that kind of apathy and hopelessness. People don't just want to exist, they want to live, they want to live in bodies they can embrace and be proud of instead of being told "its ok to not be attractive or desirable."

desire matters, pleasure matters. "tolerance" is not something that inspires hope and happiness, love is.
