A Deep Room Cleanse
The state of my room is extremely important to me. It’s a direct reflection of my mental health, so when it’s messy, my energy levels are low and I just feel yucky. There’s no way I’m getting any kind of work done, magical or mundane. When it feels good and clean to be in, it’s a lot easier to deal with my symptoms and be productive. You don’t have to do every step every time of course, but each step has helped me so I figured a list like this might help someone.
- Change the lighting. Use natural sources of light (like pulling back the curtains and letting the sun in) over artificial ones. If you have salt lamps to turn on, those are still very nice. If you need artificial light to keep it from being too dark, try to prioritize light bulbs you like the color of, and ones that don’t whistle quietly when they’re on.
- Change the airflow. Open a window, if you can. Often our rooms feel yucky because the air is stale. Get some fresh air moving. If it’s too cold, it’s okay to only keep it open for a few minutes
or put on a coat while you work because you’re stubborn like me. - Change the sound. Put on your favorite cleansing music. Let it soak into the room. I tend to go or ambient spa stuff, or playlists that sound built for a rainy day. (Note: the music that helps you cleanse the best may not be the same as what you like the most. The playlist should keep you focused/uplifted while you work and reflect the vibes you want your room to have.)
- Change the smell. Take out the trash, maybe refresh the sheets on your bed. Light a scented candle, some incense, heat up some oil, something to make your room smell distinctly different from the mucky-feeling room from before. (If your method of choice is something short like a room spray, I actually like doing it at the very end.)
- Actually clean and organize. Nothing junks up the energy of a room more quicker than actual junk. Organize everything as much as you can (this might mean finally gutting your closet, even if you can close the door and hide it.) Wipe down any surfaces that need it, get everything fresh and functional again. Do some laundry while you work. If you have clothes or trinkets that are just collecting dust, extra points for purging them!
- Cleanse any sacred spaces by themselves. A lot of us have altars or shrines in our rooms. A sacred space can also be just an extra important area of your room, like a reading nook. Make sure to give them extra attention! You don’t need to wipe the board energetically (and probably shouldn’t), but taking a little extra time to clean surfaces, straighten up, and make sure everything feels okay on them goes a long way.
- Cleanse in your regular way. Bust out the herb bundles, the bells, the ribbons, the broom, whatever you usually do to cleanse a space! The room is SUPER primed for it now, most of the negative energy probably already feels removed if not broken down. A good once-over with your favorite cleansing method should finish it off nicely.
- Refresh any wards or protections. Self explanatory. If you maintain energy borders in your room, now is a good time to check in on them and zhoosh them if needed. Keep the space clean for longer!
- Practice self-care. Take a shower, a nap, eat some food, whatever you need. You’ve put in a lot of work and you deserve it.
A new spread for when you’ve got negative or toxic people/situations in your life and you want to know the best way to deal with it. Short, but definitely to the point.
Dorm-friendly offerings & altars
I don’t know about y'all, but I’m BIG on using candles and burning incense as offerings for my deities. I love asking them to help me pick out a candle or incense scent that they would like, and burning it in their honor. That’s my standard go-to when I’m at home. But when I move back on campus this fall, I’m going to have to get a bit more creative for the no-burning-things rule and so as not to alert my already suspicious roommate, lol. I thought I’d compile a list of ideas for dorm and roommate-friendly offerings and altars.
Obvs, this can be useful in any situation in which you can’t practice openly for whatever reason. PLEASE, feel free to add your own ideas & your own examples from your practice. I want this to be an interactive list!
Offerings
- Make them a drink (coffee and tea seem to be popular, but anything can work)
- Cut out a portion of your lunch to share with them
- Draw them (they’ll love it!)
- WAX WARMERS!! If you can have them. Closest alternative to a candle
- Oil diffusers
- Collect pretty things you find outside that remind you of them. Rocks, feathers, flowers, etc.
- Dedicate your work in their domain to them (ex. dedicating your study time to Odin)
- If you have kitchen access, bake things for them
Altars
- Pocket altars are always a good idea (check out the pocket altar and altoid altar tags for ideas)
- E-shrines
- If you can do it discreetly, you can set up your altar on a windowsill or in a corner of your desk.

Requests are still open!
This is for anyone out there whose illness or disorder makes it difficult to really feel loved by those around you. (I know that at least with having borderline, that’s a pretty huge issue. Plus: sigil magic is great to do when you’re low on spoons)

Reblogging complete post so that it is not truncated and lost :3
Signal boost. This is vital information, folks.
Also turquoise is water soluble
selenite is also water soluble, and feldspars like labradorite and rainbow moonstone can lose their luster if left submerged.
This is lengthy, but if you plan on bathing with crystals, charging them in water, putting them in drinking water, or getting them wet in any way you have to do your research to make sure that they won’t dissolve, harm your skin, or literally poison you. Be smart and do the reading!

Slumber Deep
- Spell & Sigil -
I created this spell for a friend who was having a hard time sleeping, as well as having bad dreams. Follow the instructions below to help get a peaceful night’s sleep:
- On a piece of paper draw/write the above spell and sigil. The spell reads, “Peace of heart, peace of mind; calming dreams I seek to find. Ease me into a slumber deep, with a night filled of restful sleep.”
- Fold the paper into a tri-fold, having the paper over lap each other.
- On each of the corners, place a drop of Lavender essential oil; lavender is known to help encourage sleep due to its soothing scent (as it alters the brain waves and reduces anxiety and stress).
- Place the folded piece of paper under the pillow you lie your head on when going to bed.
Please let me know how this spell has worked for you, as it may work differently for everyone.

fyi non-natives wearing moccasins isnt cultural appropriation but if you want moccasins you should definitely be buying them from natives. otherwise youre creating profit for the white people who were/are trying to exterminate us.
I was told this by a Native American guy I went to school with so now I do that. I’d rather put money back where it belongs. This resonates deeply with me as a black woman who tries to support Black and Non White individuals. - K
!!! Please this thing, don’t buy crappy moccasin rip off shoes from chains, please make sure you buy authentic ones made by us!! Also stop wearing them in the fucking rain and ruining them goddamnit
also the ones made by first nations are always way better anyway????? there’s this woman named Sunshine Tenasco-Brazeau in eastern canada that makes them for babies and they’ve been known to sell like crazy because they’re amazing. You can get them here and she employs tons of other first nations women and it’s a great little native-owned company.
Reblogging this for the links in the last comment. It’s really cool to raise awareness, but it’s even cooler with something like this to provide links to places where you can actually buy the goods in question!
Beyond Buckskin has a whole list of native online retailers, so you can get your fix and feel good about where you’re sending your money!

This is one criminally underrated Batman villain.
SERIOUSLY THOUGH SHE WAS MY FAVORITE BATMAN VILLAIN
Her physical condition didn’t allow her to age
No one took her seriously as an actress
And even when she was trying to get into a happy romantic relationship (albeit with another villain) he still couldn’t take her seriously as a consenting, sexually active and romantically interested adult
That’s a lot of blows to someone’s psyche
and Babydoll is both a sympathetic villain and a formidable one
I remember this episode fucked me up a a kid.
And man, do I wish we could see this Batman again: the Batman that consoles his villains, because the majority (if not all) of them are mentally ill people. And Batman knows this and wants them healthy again, not punished and GOD definitely not dead.
Baby Doll is so underrated as a Batman villain
but her episode was perfect
Batman: The Animated Series The story of one fucked up, traumatized little boy, doing his best to help other fucked up traumatized people.
The Batman that cares about the inmates is my favorite. He doesn’t put up with their shit, but he does try to reach out here and there and he’s as human as he can be to them.
When Harley was re-institutionalized, he got her that dress she wanted.
In the comics based on B:tAS, there was a time during Christmas that there was snow and it was Mr. Freeze’s fault, and he was making it snow because Christmas was his anniversary with Nora and she LOVED it when it snowed on Christmas, so Batman let him finish mourning before calmly taking him back to Arkham.
He never, ever gives up on Harvey possibly recovering.
Sure, Batman is going to throw punches and do what it takes to take these guys down when they’re hurting or threatening people. And he’s not going be a complete bleeding heart; he has to protect the innocent. He’s going to take them down and take them back to Arkham, but it doesn’t mean he’s incapable of being a bit human to the ones who deserve it.
Batman needs become human again
Because it needs to be here:
Remember that time a young girl with near god-like psychic powers threatened to destroy reality and the only one that could stop her was Batman because he had a previous encounter with her and was tasked with killing her to restore reality.
But instead, Batman sat with her on a swing and kept her company as the girl’s psychic powers slowly killed her.
No?
Fuck you people making me emotional
The. Batman.
This is MY Batman, not the murderous fascist they’ve made him into.
NOTHING BUT RESPECT FOR MY BATMAN
This is why baby boomers think we can pay for school while having a part time job
If you were curious, that’s $714.33 in 2018 numbers.
It’s also approximately what I make for two weeks’ Labor.
Night Vale Weather
Here’s a list of musicians who’ve contributed to the weather section of Welcome to Night Vale. They’re fantastic and you should support them by going to their webpages and buying their music. And, as always, Disparition created the intro and ambient music for Welcome to Night Vale, and his work can be downloaded at disparition.info.
