I love when people defend returning to nuclear energy to me by telling me that all the waste would be moved to places with no people.

Which is just a fancy way of saying that it'll be dumped on indigenous land and the governments and corporations doing it will wash their hands of any responsibility lmao

Even when ppl talk about "sustainable energy sources" (like lithium-based), it's always at the disposal of indigenous people. Wind energy in Norway is used on Sami land. Lithium is extracted at the expense of indigenous people's lives across the world.

Buisnesses aren't interested in benefitting the environment, colonialists aren't concerned about displacing indigenous people. I'm not going to claim I know what's best for the world, but the current system is shit and positive outlooks on it is just propaganda.

Water wheels exist, wind turbines on homes exist, urine power exists, algae lamps exist, and so much more. How much could we focus on developing in a truly sustainable way if we weren't motivated by profits?
