hey if anyone's been reblogging the fearmongering posts about temu pls give this a read. basically
- the "pyramid scheme" is a rewards program where you can sign up with a referral code and the person gets points, like most shopping apps
- the authors of the articles discussing the potential cybersecurity risks brought up "communist china" multiple times in those exact words with a lot of sinophobia in the text
- the "can access everything on your phone" thing wasn't even temu, it was an entirely different app that had an infected installation circulating
- it's just a wish.com / aliexpress competitor. it'll rip you off, or it won't. who knows. you're buying directly from manufacturers and thats why it's cheap
