Sensing You

SUMMARY: It starts from there. From the memories he tries not to think of. It grows slowly, creeping up on him until he comes to realise that he can’t trust his own senses. Is it his own mind playing tricks on him? Or is it Lilith?

The five times Magnus allows himself to hope Alexander is there in Edom with him, and the one time Alec actually is.

Magnus counts the first few days, works them back to the time on earth, and allows himself to mentally follow the routines of those he loves. Alec. Catarina. Madzie. Raphael. Clary. Isabelle. It’s torture. Self-inflicted. And though it hurts to not think of them almost as much as it does to think of them, he pushes everything from his mind but Edom.

Time is endless in a place like Edom, and Magnus, having lived centuries already, has more of an understanding of how long eternity will be. It stretches infinitely in front of him, with the despair of a loneliness he hasn’t felt in years. Not that Magnus plans to spend eternity here. With time (something he’s not short on), there’s no doubt in his mind that he’ll find a way to repair the rift. But he’s unsure it will be soon enough to see half of his family and friend’s faces again.

Merry Christmas, @stupidnephilimlove!

Merry Christmas!! I hope you like it!!!!

Find You There

One.

It’s dark outside. Snow falls gently from the sky, pelting the grass in a fluffy white blanket. Their home is abundant with joy and warmth, incomplete traditions of years past inviting comfort into the hearts of a now complete family.

Alec looks on fondly as his husband gathers their sleeping eleven year old daughter into his arms, carrying her to her bedroom. His mother is smiling, her hair resting on her shoulders. Her fingers curl elegantly around a wine glass stem, her right arm resting at Luke’s waist as they snuggle together on the couch. His father and his new wife stand in the corner, laughing softly. There had been years of turmoil when his parents had been married, and a deep sigh of relief had followed their divorce. He was glad to see them both smiling and happy; something he wasn’t entirely certain he’d ever seen when they had been together, not even when he was a child.

Isabelle, Jace, and Max sit on the other couch together, setting up the next game for the evening. Max is 16 now, and Alec feels a never ending burst of pride towards his youngest sibling. He’d been nothing short of a menace growing up, but the years have started to mellow him out significantly. Alec feels all 29 years of his life as he watches him grow into an adult, and it’s something that should maybe bring a feeling of dread, but all Alec feels is a deep and sated content.

What's your favorite holiday tradition?

I think the thing I love the most is everyone being together, but after eating too much food on Christmas day we spend the evening playing games. Sometimes board games, sometimes video games. I think my favourite was my nanna trying to do bowling on the Wii.

U Up? (E) Malec Chapter 5 & Epilogue of the accidentally sexted the wrong person Malec AU. How will their first meeting go?

Now Complete.

Fic Summary:
‘The message is incredibly explicit and surprisingly specific and nothing like Alec has ever received before. Not that he’s opposed to the suggestion of the words and the promise they hold. But the number, even with the New York area code, isn’t one he recognises. Alec’s not sure what the etiquette is for responding to an unsolicited sext. Is there even etiquette for that?’
Or the one in which Alec receives a sext from an unknown number and something pushes him to sext back.

Ive been waiting for an update on working hard/hardly working. So I was going through your AO3 and I couldn’t find working hard/hardly working. Did you get rid of it? Are you gonna update it ever again?? I don’t want to seem rude or pushy I was just wondering

Hey. It's still there, it just might be down the list because I've written a lot of short, new things recently. The fic is being worked on still, but as it's a collab it takes longer and we want to have a decent chunk before we begin posting again 😄

Anonymous asked:

Hello my dear! I am your Secret Santa this year! I see you like "slow burn, AU, and malec in every setting". Do you have any specific requests this year?

Hey 👋 Yeah, I did list those as my likes. I enjoy canon too if that's something you're more comfortable with. I love most tropes and I don't have too many specific requests. I'd like for it to not be too angst heavy, but if angst is your thing, can I request angst with a happy ending at least 😀

U Up? (E) Malec  Chapter 4 of the accidentally sexted the wrong person malec au is up. It seems Izzy isn't the only one who's noticed something about Alec.

alright so it's annual donation drive time over on AO3, and I've already seen the usual "this is ridiculous/this is shady/what are they doing with all that money” so here's your yearly reminder:

  • servers are fucking expensive
  • there are no fees or ads and they're not selling your information anywhere, so the only money comes from donations
  • the budget is always public and the 2019 update is here if you want to see for yourself exactly where the money is going

The rising “moral panic” in fandoms is not a coincidence, it’s yet another sign that society as a whole is veering towards more conservative, puritanical beliefs - and you have every right to be scared. There have been shitton of “moral panics” throughout history and every single one has been one hell of a circus performance.

op, i want examples! i totally believe you i just want to hear about them.

You See Me? (T) Malec

Written for @frightening-fall-fic Week 2: Came back wrong. It's Wednesday, it's raining, Alec's late to meet Isabelle, and he sees the car too late. He lies on the concrete, water soaking his clothes as the paramedics work on him. And for two minutes and thirty-three seconds, Alec's heart stops.

It's the third shock from the defibrillator that yanks him back into the world of the living.

Alec's twenty-six when he dies, twenty-six when he comes back, but he doesn't come back the same. He's uncertain whether he leaves a part of himself behind or if he brings a part of something else back with him. But slowly the awareness grows, and he just knows... he's wrong. A lot of writers don’t know what happens next in the piece. Others won’t start up a story unless they know exactly where everything goes.

A lot of writers have a million and one ideas and would trade anything for the focus to have just one. Others only have one and would kill for the chance to come up with something new.

A lot of writers feel they’re not doing enough. Others did so much they wrote themselves to burnout.

There are a lot of ways to write. A lot of different paths you can take. Each have their flaws and their strengths, much like the writers themselves. Don’t spend the energy comparing yourself, alright? Do what you have to for things to work for you.

Written for the @frightening-fall-fic . A few days late, but here’s my take on the week 1 prompt: bad decisions were made. Read here or on AO3 Summary: When Izzy stumbles upon an old ritual book in a used book store, she decides it's perfect for her Halloween party. It's supposed to be a little fun, but the book and the idea give Alec the creeps. But really, what could go wrong? -

Alec wonders how - despite wanting to do something epic every year - Isabelle manages to leave settling on a Halloween idea until the last minute.

"Just throw a fancy dress party," Alec suggests, only half paying attention as his eyes scan the bookshelf. This was supposed to be a solo outing, an afternoon of perusing the recently opened used book store, but Isabelle insisted she tag along.

Isabelle throws Alec a disgusted look in response to his suggestion. "That's so unoriginal, Alec. It has to be better than last year."

Alec's pretty sure they had this exact conversation around a year ago, but he figures mentioning that isn't going to help the situation. Instead, he pulls a book from the shelf and scans the blurb.

"So do a seance or something," Alec says.

Isabelle sighs at his lack of interest and pulls the book from his hand. She sets in back on the shelf and looks at him.

"We did that last year. And yes, it was awesome, even if I say so myself. But it needs to be something different."

Alec resists the urge to roll his eyes at her and moves deeper into the store. He spots the fake spiders and cobwebs covering a section in the corner.

"Maybe they've got something over there?" Alec gestures to the Halloween themed area as he speaks. He doubts it, but if it means he can look around the store in peace for a few minutes, then he's more than willing to suggest it.

Mumbling to herself that Alec's no use, Isabelle heads off in that direction and Alec goes back to his book search. He makes it ten blissful uninterrupted minutes before Isabelle comes bounding over, excitement in every step.

"I've got it! Alec, it's the perfect idea," Isabelle says.

Finally.

"Oh, yeah?"

Isabelle holds up an old, battered book. The binding is starting to come away, and the gold text on the cover has faded so much that Alec's unable to make out the words.

"A ritual," Isabelle says, offering Alec the book.

U Up? Chapter 3 New chapter of the accidentally sexted the wrong person malec au is up. Does Alec have the courage to take things further?

it can be tempting to live your life like a prequel. to live as if you’re setting up your own story.and once you lose the weight, once you have the money, once you graduate school, once you’re in a real relationship, once, once, once. then finally, you’ll begin to live, and everything you do up until that point is some kind of half-life, some unimportant foreword you can skip. don’t do this. inhabit your life completely. sink fully into the wealth of your existence. the power to manifest is in the fearless owning of who you are, so that you can shape where you’re going.
