I love working at a Black owned business. This white client came in and tried to tell my boss how to do his job, how much he should charge her, etc… He simply looked at her and said, “Ma'am, your privilege doesn’t work here.”

I began screaming internally for the ancestors.

At Long Last

The Print Bros., Colin and Malik, have completed our #bklynbaby t-shirts. They put in over 20 DIY hours to get these done. And we’re proud of they’re quality execution. Great job Bros.!!!

As an entrepreneur you have to be willing to do it all. You have to be willing to mop the baseboards and clean the proverbial toilets before you shine. In order to live the life you want, you have to be willing to do what they won’t. That’s why it was dope to connect with @budweiser because they know success is most often based on the unseen work that is done while everyone else is sleeping. #RespectTheHustle #LeisureLifeNYC

// MADE FOR THIS //

Leisure Life is my baby but at the same time it’s me. This is me putting my money where my mouth is and taking one of the biggest risks of my life. When we first started talking to people about opening a shop, many said it wasn’t a good idea and suggested we do something else with our investment. Some people warned us about the pitfalls of entrepreneurship and the difficulties that would lie ahead. Other people, with our best interests in mind, even quoted the buzz-killing percentage of small businesses that close within their first year of opening. I took every piece of advice I could use and threw the rest in the trash. One thing I noticed is, no one said, “This can work and it will change your life.” Since we opened the shop I have learned so much about myself and what I want from life. Entrepreneurship pushes you to your limits and begs the question: What are you made of? It forces you to “shit or get off the pot”. Many setbacks, roadblocks, let-downs and mistakes have happened but they all informed my next decisions. I found out I had a lot to learn but I also found that making mistakes towards your goals is how all entrepreneurs learn. I knew I had to be willing to live with all the decisions I made. So, I made up my mind to follow the voice in my head and stay true to my vision. I’ve lost friends and family along the way and there are some people who never got to see the shop. I wish everyone could find the success they are looking for in their lives. Everyone should get to experience the feeling of seeing themselves on a billboard. It is a beautiful thing when people value what you do and see you as an asset. Thank you to everyone who has posted the campaign or sent me messages or stopped by the shop to tell me, “I saw you!!”. I appreciate the love so much. Extra special shout out to @budweiser and @vice and all the people who helped make this happen: @vasiligavre @benedict_evans @adamignanelli @tonymankilla @highfivekev @jackwnewton
