little happy things:

  • seeing someone who is equally as excited to see you
  • when you’re somewhere beautiful, away from things that stress you out
  • actually completing your homework quickly without procrastinating too much, and then sleeping on time
  • when your friend shares a generous amount of food with you
  • reading something that perfectly describes what you’ve struggled to put into words
  • starting a new journal with new stationery
  • waking up in the morning and feeling happy for no reason
  • discovering a new favourite tv show, song or person that makes you excited again
  • making food or art and then feeling proud of your creations
  • realizing that you don’t care anymore about something that made you sad or anxious before

i dont know if i fell for you or the idea of you.

either way it sucks that you’re not here and that i’ll never know what might had happened between the two of us.

maybe you felt something for me too, maybe you didn’t.

maybe it was meant to be but it just wasn’t the right time.

i should’ve kissed you that night. but i didn’t and im just stuck with “what if’s...”

and this feeling really fucking sucks.

1. TRAVEL ALONE. Have time to be away from everything. Rediscover your purpose in life by going to places you’ve never been before. Explore new things, experience different cultures, learn new languages and meet different people. Replenish your soul with excitement and exploration. It will create many opportunities for you, and room for improvement and personal growth. Traveling alone will teach you how to become independent and confident. 2. LOOK FOR YOUR TRUE SELF. This is the perfect time to make your passion your profession. Chase your dreams; follow where your heart wants to go. Do things that make you feel happy. Never settle for good enough, be the best version of yourself. Look for your purpose. Along the way, you will discover things that will clearly define you as a person. Embrace this. And let success flow; everything else will follow. 3. CUT THE CLUTTER. Choose and keep the right people in your life. Associate with people who you want to be like. You’re not going to imitate them; you will learn from them, grow from them, and discover your true voice. These kinds of people will bring cheerfulness; they will motivate you and remind you that you’re on the right track. Creating a positive environment around you attracts success and it makes your vision clearer. It also creates a healing space that fosters growth that opens a door for opportunity. Everything will become lighter because positivity brings happiness. So never waste a space in your life for a negative vibe. 4. DON’T BE AFRAID TO TAKE RISKS. If you’re tired of where you are right now, reevaluate your situation. Are you just working to live and survive another day or you want something you will never get tired of doing because you love it? Learn to weigh things around you. Pursue what makes you happy. Risk, in order to see the things on the other side of the bridge. Be brave enough to quit and start anew. Don’t be afraid to stop doing the things that don’t serve your path. Risking redefines your thought processes and it optimizes opportunities. So never be afraid to risk because some of the greatest adventures in your life will come from things you never realized were possible. 5. BALANCE YOUR PERSONAL AND PROFESSIONAL LIFE. We only have a 24 hour time period every day, so make every second count. Never waste a moment being unproductive. Master the art of time management. Have time for yourself, to have fun and enjoy things in life. Have time for your family; spend precious moments with people you love. And have time for your professional growth. You have to spend your days wisely. 6. BE GRATEFUL. Make it a habit of saying “thank you” to people when they do something for you. You don’t know what kind of storm they are experiencing, so become their rainbow. Share your kindest smile. Appreciate them. It looks like a small effort from you, but for them, it completes their day. Never keep positivity within you, share it with everyone you meet. 7. DO SOMETHING DIFFERENT AND CRAZY. Sometimes, being normal is boring and redundant. You need to stretch out of your comfort zone. Jump, even if you don’t know what lies beyond. Put excitement in your life that you can look back on and laugh hard when you become old. 8. BECOME SOMEONE’S HAPPY PILL. Drink a shot of happiness every day because the brain works best when you are happy. 9. RENEW YOUR FAITH. Being an adult means a lot of work and stress. Sometimes, you will lose time and balance for everything, including your personal relationship with God. When things don’t go the way we want to or when all hopes are gone, everything seems to drift away. We keep on questioning and doubting God’s plans for us. Switch it over into praise. Use the situation to rebuild your relationship with Him. God wants you to communicate. The reason why He takes something away from you is because He wants you to discover greater things in store. The best way to renew your faith is to surround yourself with God. Pray a lot. 10. ACCEPT THE FACT THAT THE WORLD IS FILLED WITH HARD TIMES. Quit complaining. Do not think about things you cannot change. Focus your attention on things you can act upon. Reward yourself when you have done something great. In order to become successful, you must embrace change and motivate yourself. Remember, people won’t love you just because you love them. Think before you commit. Don’t let your thoughts run in your tongue

Before I fall in love again 1. I want us to be friends. Which means, I want to be able to eat my favourite cheese crust pizza with you, while having cheese all over my face and even in my hair, without feeling embarrassed or concerned about it. I want to be comfortable with you, I want to be okay about being messy, irritating, embarrassing, disgusting, petty while with you. Because I will be petty when I see my ex best friend post a happy picture and I will be messy during my finals and I will be embarrassing when I meet your parents for I suck at meeting parents. I want to be okay with being the way I am and the only way to be okay is to know that you’re okay with me being things other than beautiful, graceful and composed at all times. 2. I want to be able to have long and passionate conversations with you not just about existential things but also about what went wrong in the ending of that book and how kids are affected by media and how tomato basil combination always works. I want to have conversations where we may not always have the same views but our fundamental values always fall in place. I want to talk to you about the beauty of the stars but I also want to talk to you about the disgusting mentality behind certain societal norms. 3. I want to see how consistent your actions are with your words. I don’t want to fall for love letters or poems, for sweet Instagram captions or long birthday texts, I want to fall in love with you showing up on time and keeping your promises. 4. I want to take it slow. I want our story to work out in years, not months. I want to respect time and space this time. 5. I want to make sure I am not seeking love from you for the lack of love I have for myself. I want to make sure you aren’t a void I am filling in, you are not an alternative to the things I can’t give myself. I want to make sure you are not doing the same. 6. I want to work out with my insecurities and fears from the past. I don’t want to project them on you, I don’t want to subject you to the doubts, suspicion and anger I carry from the people I have known in the past. 7. Before I fall in love again, I want to make a mattress with you. Of understanding and respect and trust. So when we fall, it doesn’t hurt.

JOURNAL TOPICS

I’ve personally found journaling to be very advantageous to both my recovery as well as my overall psyche, and I’d suggest it to anyone. Below I’ve comprised a little list of daily journaling topics that individuals in recovery as well as others may find to be enjoyable. 1.) Write 3 things that were great about your day. 2.) Keep a daily gratitude list and jot down one thing you’re thankful for every morning. 3.) Write down one affirmation every day and repeat it to yourself (be sincere). 4.) Write about what you have learned this week (no matter how mundane it may seem). 5.) Journal about the best thing that happened to you this week (give details). 6.) Write what your biggest challenges were for the week. 7.) Journal about things you did for the first time. 8.) Write down your top three priories for the upcoming week. 9.) Make a “Positives List” and write down: -anything you’re proud of -positives changes you’ve experienced (in recovery or in general) -things you like about yourself -positive statements loved ones may use to describe you -what makes you unique/special -things you are good at *Refer to this list regularly and add to it as needed* 10.) Comprise a list of negative core beliefs and then go back and reframe them all with an affirmation towards yourself. 11.) Journal about where you envision yourself to be within the next 5 years. 12.) Write a letter saying all the things you’d like to voice to someone you dislike with no intentions of sending it. 13.) Schedule a date with yourself once a month; write about all the things you’d like to do, and do them. 14.) Write an amends letter to yourself; then write a thank you letter to yourself. 15.) Keep a dream log. Write down what you dreamed the night before as soon as you wake up (include as many details as possible). 16.) List all your favorite quotes. Underneath write why you enjoy them so much and how they apply to you.

For those in recovery, you may find it beneficial to set aside 10 minutes everyday and answer these following questions: 1.) Did my recovery go as planned today? 2.) What impediments, if any, were there to my recovery? 3.) What can I do to remove these impediments next time? I’ve also included some journaling assignments you may find to be helpful: 4.) Create a list of what is good about staying the same and what is bad about staying the same. Then form a list of good and bad outcomes of making a change. 5.) Create a plan/schedule in advance to help you steer clear of temptations that may throw you off course.

If you can think of any additions to add to this list feel free to message them to me. I’m always open to new journaling assignments. Hopefully you all can find at least one of these suggestions to be fun and constructive. Happy journaling to you all! PS- I’d love to read any of your entries; feel free to message them to me.
