More stories from hell (retail) today I was ringing up this lady and she goes oh I want to do part of this on a gift card and the rest on normal card and I go ok and then she hands me a folded piece of paper. I think oh OK it must be folded around the gift card, right? Wrong. It is a folded sheet of 8×11 printer paper with "$40" written on the inside in ballpoint pen. I go what is this. She says a gift card. I say this is not a gift card. She says yes it is. I say this is a piece of paper with "$40" written on it. She says "well it's a gift card." I say it absolutely is not. I am grinding my teeth. She says well I want to use it. I say you physically cannot do that bc it is a piece of paper. I cannot scan or swipe it. I apologize, as if this is my fault, and not because she is completely insane. I hate it here

It's been a hot second since the last time I cried tears of true rage but damn if I didn't come close today

My coworkers were like wow how are you still in a good mood after that my brother in christ after that interaction I went to the break room and took an extra adderall

Ron Swanson’s sister tried to check out at your register? Damn

Scientific fraud is the most baffling thing ever to me like do they think they're just going to make a huge breakthrough and no one will notice that it's fake by trying to replicate their results

Yeah actually I just discovered how to turn plastic into gold. Oh you want to know how I did it

Starts running away cutely

I can never reblog that one post that's like "what fictional food did you desperately want to eat as a child " bc I had this dinosaur book as a kid and in the book there was this illustration of a T. Rex eviscerating a Triceratops and feasting on its remains and it looked like it was having such a good time with the triceratops carcass that I would have traded anything to be that T. Rex. And I can't just add that to a random stranger's post

I see how it is you can all post about cannibalism and blood drinking and it's cool it's normal it's ENCOURAGED even but I say I wanted to indulge in the absolute carnage of felling a 26,000 lb horned beast with my hands and then feasting upon the spoils of my victory as a child and suddenly IM the weird one

Everyone says they want a weirdgirl who is hot and strange and off-putting and then she says she's harboring a secret desire to be a Mesozoic superpredator from the late cretaceous and you all switch up REALLL fast

DYSCALCULIA TOOL ALERT!

This is an acrylic magnifying glass with a green strip in it that helps you read long strings of numbers! It's been known for a while that putting a colored filter over pages can help people with dyscalculia read numbers without them flipping places, but this is the first time I've seen something so simple and accessible. I put it on some test numbers and my eyes didn't feel like they kept wanting to jump around all over the number. I can keep this on my desk and use it on paper, or hold it up to my monitor to read long numbers at work! It may help people in other ways as well, this is just what I bought it for and I already love it!

I found it at a Daiso location, but there are probably others online.

Spread the word!

EDIT: It's also like $2, so pretty much anyone who needs it can afford it!

Well now I’m curious how many people with dyscalculia were born with it and how many have a history of head trauma.

I had a really awful TBI and color filters have been my go-to for all visual tasks since I first did neurovisual rehab years ago.

As an aside, this is why I love lighting design so much because color has such an effect on our visual system it’s mind-blowing.

Just in case you might need a reminder that the elected officials don't care about you remember this statement from nancy here, this is from before the became the lame duck speaker of the house here.

She said it because she knew it and she was holding it hostage so people would vote blue and then when they didn't she didn't bring it up on the floor of congress even though she still had the majority and they could have pushed it through while lame ducks.

Right up till January 2023 when the new congress took office they could have done this, but they didn't, because this way they can point at the other guy and pretend to care about you while stabbing you in the back.

you got played if you think this is the fault of the SCOUTS

I think at one point or another everyone should become slightly obsessed with a show (preferably 10+ years old) that 99% of their mutuals don't care about. it builds character. keeps you humble

listen to me. listen. sometimes your show is a video game from two years ago. sometimes it's an 19th century opera. sometimes it's a math-themed crime drama you watched in middle school but did not retain because you were blinded by lust for that one elf from the santa clause movies. the only thing that matters is that none of your posts get more than like 15 notes and all your mutuals reply to them with

This is why I dislike looking back on the past as if everything has been constantly improving to get us to where we are now

Our cement isn't as strong as the Romans, our steel isn't as strong as Damascus steel, we cannot replicate the beauty of a Stradivari violin, we've already lost some of the technology that flew Apollo and Gemini to space

And when I live out a suitcase I have to sift through a pile of stuff like a neanderthal

Broke: Rauru would be mortified by Link's Korok torture devices and weapons of mass destruction and quickly comes to regret giving him unlicensed power over creation.

Woke: Rauru is just as unhinged as Link and is utterly delighted that his power went to someone with such "creativity".

My Rito collection has been completed, and ¾ of it is a dad. Why are all birds also dads? explain, nintendo.

I actually love way more birds than just those four, and it’s solely thanks to one of my all time favourite botw fics, the Rito Chronicles saga. It’s my rito canon now and I recommed it to anyone who likes worldbuilding and societal drama. And Ritos. It’s amazing. And I am PICKY with my fanfiction.

just sayin'

This should be taught in school.

>what are capital gains taxes

>what are offshore accounts

>what are tax loopholes that rich people lobby for

The SEC just had to drop over 40 cases they were investigating because, « haha, oopsie! We caught ourselves supposedly causing procedural problems so now these cases and investigations suddenly aren’t admissible in a court of law. »

The richest people in the US are, by and large, Democrats.

Because they know they can just buy their way out of anything.
