For as much as I love Yor and Lois’s budding romantic relationship, the way the fandom has talked about them since the anime came out has irked me some. Mostly because I feel like the majority of people are skipping the really enjoyable slow burn portions of their relationship to go straight to ‘SUPER INTENSE MUTUAL PINING’, and I just don’t see them that way
Especially where the anime is and to an extent in the manga, they’re two people still getting to know one another in an odd situation who have a great deal of respect for one another and growing fondness. They’ve gone from strangers to friends and that’s amazing! And the unique nature of their fake marriage and double lives at once forces them to view each other way more intimately than they would otherwise AND forces a kind of barrier to intimacy that might otherwise have grown- they maintain a respectable distance so as to not cross lines, but so many lines have already been crossed
The tension is slowly rising really well, and I hate seeing that undercut for the sake ‘uwu kissy romance NOW!!’ We’re getting there, but we’re not there yet. And that’s not a bad thing!
All that being said, Twilight hesitating to shoot Yuri who is gunning to kill him because it would upset Yor is the single most romantic gesture ever made
