Call me Ronnie

@stressed-depressed-jse-obsessed

I'm stressed, depressed, but at least I'm well dressed... and also YouTube obsessed, but we don't talk about that off the blog.

More people need to be talking about COPPA. Not later, now. It’s serious.

Have your voice heard before December 9: https://www. regulations.gov/comment?D=FTC-2019-0054-0001

I sent in a comment to the FTC!

Thank you!

I don’t normally reblog stuff like this on here (on purpose), but this is actually really important.

If you are a content creator on YouTube, this affects you. It’s SUPER important. Please watch the video and do some research so you know what you’re up against.

(This affects Tangled Talk, too.)

Oh thank goodness someone else is talking about this, I was just about to make a huge rant about it myself. Me and my friend Peace ( @thegamingguard ) were discussing this on Discord not too long ago.

I need you guys to understand what this means. What they’re defining as ‘children’s content’ is EXTREMELY vague. From what Peace was telling me, your video could get flagged as kid’s content if you say the word ‘COOL’ or ‘FUN’.

Any and ALL YouTubers could be caught by this. Anything animation based can be flagged as kid’s content. Bright colors in the thumbnail can be flagged as kid’s content. Toys in the background, even if they’re collectibles, can be flagged.

Even gaming YouTubers such as Jacksepticeye and Markiplier could be caught by this because ‘games’ is one of the things that’s classified as ‘kid appealing content’. What type of games, YouTube? It just says ‘GAMES.’

I watch a ton of YouTubers in the Arts and Crafts community, and ALL of them are under the gun for this. This is such a big deal. People’s livelihoods are being torn out from under them because of this.

I personally can’t send a comment about this, but if you can, I beg of you to do so. Something desperately needs to be done about this quickly, before it’s too late. So many creators on YouTube will be shot down because of this.

I’d even go as far as saying this could kill the platform because of how vague it is. Who the heck doesn’t say the word ‘cool’ every now and then in their videos? My friend Peace put it this way, by the time the FTC is done, there will be NOTHING left on YouTube but boring political videos.

Please make your voice heard, and send a comment to them about this. We’ve got to get the FTC’s attention before this law goes into place.

Hey you guys! I haven’t been logged into this blog in eons (*coughs* I’m on @alchemyready *coughs*), but I’m popping in to reblog this from my Tangled blog. I’m not gonna type out a whole ‘nother extremely long rant because I already typed the one above, but this is extremely important and I want to spread this as much as possible.

In addition to what I said above, I’d like to share with you a screenshot that Peace sent me of what these rules mean exactly:

AND, what counts as kids’ content:

Do you guys see how vague this is? And how much can be taken away from YouTubers because of this?

AND, that’s not all!

If you mark your video as ‘Not for Kids’, and it’s flagged as being ‘For Kids’, you can be fined $42,000 dollars.

Anyways, TL;DR: This whole thing is awful and something needs to be done about it! Please send a comment to the FTC opposing these strict rules. Help the YouTube community out, they need it.

Chase: Can we- every time we do an episode, can we say one nice thing about each other? Like, Schneep, your ceviche is the best ceviche I’ve had. And Jackie, the muscles in your hands are like really big.

Jackiboy: Thank you.

Dr. Schneeplestein: … I’ve never made ceviche for you. I don’t know why you would say that.

Chase: You have made ceviche for me before. Its really good.

Dr. Schneeplstein: I have not. I have not made ceviche for you.

Chase: Yeah, you made me ceviche shrimp once.

Dr. Schneeplestein: I did not make ceviche shrimp once, but thank you.

Chase: You made- I fucking ate- if they… were those just raw shrimps I was eating out of your refrigerator??

Reblogging again

REBLOG IT BITCH

Oh they’re going to need salvation.

Not just making it illegal, but making being gay punishable with death.

This is one of the many reasons why I walk by every single red bucket in the run-up to Christmas. They’re not getting my money, I don’t care how nice the people ringing bells are.

Ever since the time they threatened to close all their soup kitchens in NYC if a law that did something as simple as allow companies to extend spousal benefits to their employee’s same-sex domestic partners I have refused to buy from them or donate to them.

It’s that time of year again! In case people don’t know… the Salvation Army is shitty peoples.

Also, the married women are not paid (and therefore can’t qualify for assistance if they should ever divorce, etc). And worth “of course” less than a man.

“ In the Army’s case, the agreement for compensation is that the officer allowance be paid jointly to the husband—the check is written in his name. Officially, the wife is a “worker without expectation of remuneration,” and her husband receives 40 percent more of an allowance as a married man than he would as a single man. “

hey since that season is coming up again!

To my American followers. Don’t support Salvation Army. Not only are they homophobic as shit, but I’ve also heard that they abuse a lot f homeless people. They only care about money, please don’t donate to them and give your money to charities that actually help people

Never don’t reblog.

To be clear: this is specific to America. It is not necessarily going to be true for all countries. Please don’t boycott your own salvos without proper investigation: in many countries they do good work.

Adressing The Community

There has been a growing negativity in this community lately, specifically here on Tumblr that I think needs addressing. I’m tired of seeing the community at each other’s throats and my lack of communication on it isn’t helping.

What was once people posting criticism and feedback has now turned into extremely harsh judgment, personal opinions and outright nasty name calling. That shit is NOT ok. That’s not criticism, it’s unfiltered judgement and hate. You can talk about how I make videos and my job but trying to dictate how I live my personal life and who is in it is crossing a very big line. As soon as you start telling people what to do because of how YOU feel, that’s a really big red flag. My personal life and my relationships in it are not entertainment and shouldn’t be treated as some sort of reality TV. You don’t have to like it and that’s perfectly fine too. I know I’m not perfect and I’ve never pretended to be but sometimes it feels like people put such huge expectations and stanards on my behaviour that it was always bound to let you down at some point. I used to share a lot about myself with you guys. I was incredibly open and talked about everything that was on my mind. This led to more people opening up to me and relating to me heavily which was great, for a while. Eventually I started getting burdened by other people’s mentalities and problems and being the type of person that I am I empathised a lot and tried to help. Not to invalidate what those people were going through but it’s hard to take on other people’s thoughts everyday when I struggled with my own already. Eventually this mentally burned me out and affected my life more than I’d like to admit. I’ve since gotten to a better balance and have closed off more of myself. Not because I care less or don’t want to interact with the community but it’s better for me mentally and that’s always been priority no.1 as it should be with all of you too.

I’ve seen people say that I have less energy in videos now and that must mean I’m depressed and hate my job but it’s really just me growing up and out of that version of myself. I’m stil positive and I’m still energetic, I just don’t go to 100% all the time anymore because I don’t need to. I’ve matured and I’ve grown a lot and I’m almost 30, of course I’m not going to have the exact same energy I did when I started making vids. I’m not trying to prove myself constantly anymore. That’s either something you come to terms with and grow/mature with me or there’s plenty of other youtubers out there that will likely fit what you want out of them. Sticking around and trying to force me back to that place or destroying the community because you don’t like it is NOT ok.

I’ve also seen the claim that I repeat jokes too much now and they go on too long but this is feels really misinformed because my channel has always had running jokes that went on a long time. Happy Wheels and Turbo Dismount were both series that had like 5 jokes each repeated for a VERY long time. Now is no different.

I used to blame myself heavily for the rift that happened in the community but it’s not all on me. I’m just one person and I can point you in the right direction but I shouldn’t have to come back every few months to make posts like this just to make sure people stop arguing and causing drama. There is some really childish and petty behaviour at play that I have never endorsed or encouraged. I shouldn’t have to be here babysitting the community all the time. I’m sorry that I haven’t spoken up sooner and I know this post will likely make some of the more toxic parts of the community flare up even more but I’m tired of feeling like absolute shit because of this stuff. Life’s too short for this shit. I want to have fun with you guys again, not get bogged down in all the tiny details of everything that’s happening.

This community means a LOT to me and I will defend it to the end

oh god i’d heard about the “i won’t commission artists who undercharge for their art” post and now it’s making its rounds on my dash.

please understand that this concept does not actually help anyone. the sensible thing to do if an artist is undercharging is to tip them for what you think their work it worth, and be sure to let them know that. even if this doesn’t cause them to actually change their base prices, at least YOU’RE paying for what it’s worth, and THEY’RE getting business instead of nothing.

by essentially boycotting artists who are already unsure of the value of their own work (and are thus underpricing) you’re not sending any positive message. no one is going to up their commission prices when nobody is buying them. the only thing the artist gets out of it is that people don’t want to buy their art for some reason, and people who’s products aren’t selling aren’t going to say “oh i guess it was because i wasn’t charging enough, i’ll pump up the prices!”

if you want to support a commission artist, please do it by actually SUPPORTING THEM WITH COMMISSIONS rather than by choosing to take your business elsewhere because their prices were too low.

Jack: Minding his own business, being cute and adorable, celebrating 7 years on YouTube

Meanwhile Mark: YANCY STANS?? WHATTA BUNCHA LOSERS. HEY, JACK HAS A SMALL BRAIN AND I’VE GOT BIG BRAIN CHECK OUT MY PROMO FOR THE NEW CLOAK MERCH AND HERES ME IN A CROP TOP. HAHA BRB GOTTA GO BULLY SOME FANS ON TUMBLR. OH AND UNUS ANNUS. LET ME BREAK OUT THAT WHITE SUIT AGAIN.

WHY THE FUCK ARE THERE NO POSTS ON THE WHOLE COPPA AND YOUTUBE SITUATION

Watch this video to understand what’s whappening, but as a general TLDR, if The Children’s online privacy protection act is inforced on Youtube, youtube content as we know it will change forever.

If you don’t have time to watch the video let me summarize it (and other videos on the topic) for you

One of the things COPPA prohibits is the use of personalized ads (Ads based on your location, age, sex, gender, interests, basically all the data that is collected through use of the internet) for children under the age of 13. For this, Youtube was fined and now they’re making changes to the way the platform works.

One of these changes is making creators mark their content as “Meant for kids” or not. However there are a wide range of items that, on youtube’s eyes, classifies as children media.

So basically if your video contains something that falls under any of these categories, even if its just one, and a minor thing, youtube can flag it as kids video and apply the new restrictions to this video or even your channel as a whole. And if youtube’s automated system finds any of these things in a video NOT catered for children, it can penalize you both by applying these restrictions anyways, striking you, or fining you for breaking the law

This is a snippet of a complaint made to be submitted to COPPAS’ feedback page, since they saw how problematic this act and laws can be. The whole complaint was written by a mexican youtube channel called Alfrely, and it reads:

YouTube viewers and creators petition the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) to clarify and reconsider the new Children’s Online Privacy Protection (COPPA Rule) regulations on YouTube creators. Shutting off personalized ads on creators’ content will cause more harm than good, especially for children. Quality family-friendly content will shrink, while more mature content will grow — yet kids will still be watching.   The FTC should not expand COPPA regulations for content creators. Broadening the definition of “child-directed” to include “child-attractive” would force many more creators to turn off personalized ads. As a result, even more quality content will dry up, and more mature and extreme content will fill the platform. The free YouTube Kids app is a better solution than regulation targeting family-friendly creators. YouTube Kids removes privacy concerns around personalized ads. Parents buy devices and allow their children to watch YouTube Main. Many parents prefer to use YouTube Main because it has more features and less barriers. Creators should not be punished when parents choose not to use YouTube Kids. COPPA is about putting parents in control of protecting their children’s personal information online. The FTC should not use COPPA to remove parents from the process in regulating content and online advertising. While large corporations will survive these changes, small business creators face terminating employees, changing their business model, or shutting down production altogether. These regulations will particularly hurt young underserved audiences who participate in YouTube communities on topics like special needs, faith, and minority groups. Limiting quality free content for kids expands the digital divide. Turning off personalized ads on kids’ content also encourages increased product placement and brand deals within kids’ content. Creators face COPPA fines up to $42,530 per video, yet the regulation and definition of “child-directed” is vague. The FTC needs to provide creators with enforcement clarity.  We ask the FTC to: 1. Provide an enforcement statement for creators 2. Clarify the definition of “child-directed,” and not expand it to cover “child-attractive” content  3. Delay enforcement against creators until the FTC concludes its review of COPPA 4. Allow parents to use YouTube Kids or YouTube Main, without forcing creators to turn off personalized ads when parents choose to use YouTube Main

Now onto another point:

The woman from the video replies

“We will start limiting the data we collect from ‘Made for kids content’ to comply with the law.”

The changes that will be applied to these videos are:

  • Comments
  • Personalized ads
  • Info cards
  • End screens
  • Stories
  • Community tab
  • Notification bell
  • Ability to “Save to watch later” or add to playlists, just to name the ones listed.

You basically get stripped of everything that makes youtube, youtube.

This change basically encourages content creators that live off the platform to create content that DOESN’T cater to children, creating more mature content that is already frowned upon on youtube and by advertisers, and will inevitaly make kids continue to consume media that is not for them

Not to mention that things like cartoons and videogames will be among the things that people won’t talk about.

Big corporations will always find a way to make this work, and the people who depend on youtube for a living may also find a way to make this work, but at the end of the day, it will ruin the careers and possibly the lives of many many creators, maybe even creators that you enjoy.

PLEASE SPREAD THE WORD ABOUT THIS. THE MORE PEOPLE SUBMITTING FEEDBACK TO THE FTC, THE MORE CHANCES TO SAVE THIS WE HAVE. DON’T SLEEP ON THIS.

I’m not good at making any posts like these so I may be forgetting things or saying something wrong so please reblog and correct me or add to what I’m saying. Spread the word.

Submission. What if...

late at night, you had a serious craving for your favorite cereal, so you go to your local grocery store, decked out in your Markiplier pajama pants.

As you groggily search for your cereal, you notice someone else come down the aisle, but don’t pay much attention. You continue to search for your cereal, when the other person says in a familiar voice, “I like your pants.”

You look up… and it’s Mark, holding your favorite cereal.

You gasped in horror, because your favorite cereal was Explodi-O’s! Only years of training has allowed your iron gullet to withstand the flavor (and Nitroglycerin) packed marshmallows! You make a lunging leap for the box, only to knock said box out of Markiplier’s grubby and unwashed hands.  Both of you look on in even more horror the previously experienced as time slows down to allow the gravity of the situation to fall. As that’s happening gravity is causing the box to fall with increasing fastness towards the ground. With lightning reflexes you to tuck, roll, dip, duck, dive, and tuck under the nearest pile of America’s Least Favorite Cereal™ Lead-Brick-O’s. You’re effectively shielded from the flavor blast but the poor sod known as Markiplier was blown to smitheroons. You stand tall among the wreckage of your local supermarket. Hundreds are injured and ones are dead. You look down at Markiplier’s freshly exploded corpse in wonder at how a routine trip to the supermarket turned out to be so amazing. But then you remember that your life is pretty awesome so you adorn your aviators and hop on your motorcycle. You ride off into the sunset completely forgetting that technically this was your fault and you should probably take a little responsibility for your actions. But you don’t.  Because you’re awesome.

I didn’t have a tumblr anywhere CLOSE to 2015 when this was first posted.

But even on other forums or social medias, I’ve NEVER seen this.

:O

Mark what even the fuck

I’ve never seen this one either lmao
