(i jump around a lot sorry in advance. i just find q!mariana so tragic and i love her)

mariana is always viewed as the one in the wrong, which she gets, she’s made many mistakes, but everyone around her has started viewing her as the sum of her mistakes instead of her own person at this point. mariana also lost her daughter, but the island offers no sympathy. the expectations are way above mariana’s head and there’s no way he could live up to any of them, but that’s all anybody wants from him.

leaving and isolating himself is the only logical decision he can come up with. it’s the only thing that makes sense. she’s blamed and hated for this choice, but it’s not like they really wanted her around.

charlie was able to cope with gegg, who although was hated at the start, is now loved by everybody on the island. mariana doesn’t have that coping mechanism and she doesn’t even really have a support system anymore. even roier, somebody who was supposed to be his best friend, had started feeding into the rumors about him. charlie has the whole island, but mariana just has herself.

everybody knows slimariana as the toxic couple but still blame mariana for not wanting to stay for charlie’s sake. mariana takes the blame for all of their marital issues. slime pushes him away yet still expects mariana to solve all of his issues and just bear through it all. she’s supposedly at fault for ruining slime’s life yet she’s still expected to return and prioritize charlie while his own problems get pushed to the side.

people have become more sympathetic towards charlie, which is great, but with how much he slanders mariana, it’s been at her expense. people that mariana has never met before now have negative opinions of him. slime told baghera to hit mariana when she sees him, so everybody’s been developing a bad view of him and he’s not around to defend himself.

mariana is just viewed as charlie’s wife and juana’s failure of a mother despite actually having a great relationship with her. and i’d argue at times juanaflippa was more herself around mariana. he wasn’t the best mother by far, but he was not absent as people were led to believe.

mariana doesn’t know that he wasn’t at fault for juanaflippa’s death and the guilt has just been building inside of him, consuming his whole building. he can’t face the island without juanaflippa here. it would kill him to know about the glitch, and he doesn’t trust himself anymore after the accident

mariana isn’t even viewed as his own person at this point, the deaths of her daughter becoming the defining points of his life, all anybody thinks when they see him.

(off topic there’s this one fic where mariana is compared to la llorona and that idea just scratches something in the back of my brain i love it sm)

i cant stop thinking about flippa coming back

theyre a mess, sobbing and inseperable, and mariana and slime will definitely fuck after flippas fallen asleep safe at home but for now this is all that matters

but none of them can let it go, flippa cant let it go, she keeps saying sorry for every little thing, sticking close to slime, and slime knows. slime knows why she he feels awful but he doesnt know how to tell her that its ok and he deserved her words and that he knows she doesnt really hate him and that he loves her so much it wouldnt matter anyway

mariana wont leave flippas side, freaking out anytime she takes any damage, so much as scraping her knee will set her mom off and its clear hes so overwhelmed with worry he cant even put an apology into words its driving him insane

slime still feels awful for killing tilin, for leaving flippa, for inadvertantly having a hand in her death, for lashing out at mariana even though he knew she was grieving too

of course they are awful at apologies, though, so itll take time, but theyve got all the time in the world this time

Here’s a part 2 to the Assassin x Civilian AU. But this time in Charlie’s perspective :D

Charlie is a trained killer.

And so was the father that came before him.

His father was actually the one who had trained him. Out of his seven siblings, he saw the most potential in Charlie.

At the age of ten, he was taught how to yield a knife. At twelve, he fired his first bullet to his first kill. At fifteen, he was effective enough to take contracts. Now at twenty four, he’s practically unstoppable.

Which is probably why he was hired to take down an entire function, a gala of some sort, with elites and politicians who may or may have not made the world just a bit more cruel. Either way, Charlie does as what he does best.

Charlie likes to hide in plain sight. No disguises. No masks. Nothing but a pair of glasses on his face. He took advantage of the fact that he is plain-looking, that he is just a random guy you’d normally come across a nearby street.

At this function, he simply appeared in a suit and only a course of action in his mind.

Unfortunately, not everything goes according to plan. Because there are some things Charlie can’t control. And one of them is a random man who isn’t on the guest list.

Immediately, Charlie is suspicious. Maybe he is someone hired to kill him. Maybe he is there to stop him and his plans. Maybe he is there as bait. All these hypotheticals, until Charlie decided to engage and confront him himself.

“You’re not from here, are you?”

The stranger has also been staring at this painting three glasses of wine ago.

He turns, wide-eyed and nervous. Caught.

He laughs. “Is it obvious?”

And his voice, filled with anxious conviction. His words heavily accented. Charlie could easily tell he’s not supposed to be here, yet he somehow found his way anyway.

That alone, intrigues Charlie, more than any contract and any negotiations he partook in. The man’s reason clicks in his head right away.

He’s only here for free wine.

“Maybe a little. You’ve been staring at this painting for the past fifteen minutes. I’m trying to figure out what’s so interesting about it.” Well, Charlie can spare a few minutes of conversation with someone he isn’t there to kill at least.

“You are watching me?” The stranger asks.

Charlie has to. He has to keep track of every guest and every person in the room.

“I’ve never seen you before.” He answered. Because it was easier to admit that the stranger is more interesting to look at than what his purpose was. “I would’ve recognized you if I had.”

The stranger catches on quickly, and he, too, gives in to the flirting. “Really?”

Which is probably why the deadly assassin like him, just casually dropped his name right after, with an extended hand and all.

“I’m Charlie.”

“Mariana.” The other man introduces.

They stare at each other and their handshake lingers for a second much longer.

There are some things Charlie can’t control. Meeting Mariana becomes second to his plan being compromised. Laughing and flirting with him becomes third. Kissing him on the balcony becomes fourth.

He had to forcibly yank himself away with his heart pounding in his ears and emotions mirroring in each other’s dilated eyes.

Charlie is a trained killer. No bullet to the head or a dagger to the heart has fazed him. Not violence nor death could make him flinch. But the thought of Mariana getting involved and becoming collateral in his life is enough to set something inside him on fire.

“You should go home.” He says firmly. “Don’t stay here any longer. Go home.”

Charlie wants to pull him back, kiss him again and ease the visible rejection forming in Mariana’s eyes. But there’s still a room full of people he has to kill.

Maybe when this contract is over and done with, he’ll come back to him.

Until then, Charlie has a job to do.

Another fun and bolder AU!

Charlie as the president of QSMP. He is an ambitious and a sincere leader, though sometimes not effective but he is respected enough and loved enough by the people.

Mariana as his personal maid. He is hardworking and headstrong, shaped by his poor upbringing working to get to where he is now.

They are on opposite ends. They are worlds apart from each other.

And yet they hold a much deeper relationship. A secret they strive to desperately keep. What started as a physical relationship bloomed into something more sweet and more romantic.

There’s a lot at stake in a forbidden love like theirs. The possibilities of getting caught, other people being suspicious, rumors and journalists insisting to uncover the truth, the lines blurring between work and their relationship, the scandal of being found out…

Mariana didn’t know what he was signing up for, being in love with the leader of the nation.

Charlie didn’t know what he was signing up for, being in love with someone he isn’t supposed to.

Charlie has proposed to Mariana several times, that he is willing to give up his presidency and everything else just to be with him. But Mariana can’t let him do that, that there are things more important than their own happiness, that he’s content with their secret moments together.

Will they keep staying together and keep going, knowing that their relationship is doomed to fail? Will they end it before things escalated for the worst? Will they run away together, plan an escape and leave everything behind?
