I saw again Sherlock and all the seasons and specials but at the end i have a quesion.

In “The Final Problem” we saw that Eurus put Sherlock in a problem with Molly and all that happened in there blablabla. At that point of the story, Sherlock deduces that Molly don’t have a relationship anymore (wth happen with the guy???) , that she is living alone, we saw that Molly and  Sherlock say one to other “I love you” (and even you start saying me he had to say it out of commitment or something, there is a point where he says it sincerely). My question here is, did Sherlock end up dating Molly after that? Bc we saw her enter in the appartment of the guys directly smiling at Sherlock and that confuse me a little. I don’t know, I have that doubt and I can’t get it out of my head because there is a slight possibility even if Sherlock texts Irene, I don’t know, is my question stupid?

Not a stupid question, but the truth is we may never know the answer for sure. The writers haven’t even confirmed that Sherlock meant the ILY romantically (despite the fact that they certainly made it look that way) so they definitely haven’t said for sure what happens to Sherlock and Molly’s relationship after that. What we can know for sure is that they’re still very close, based on that final scene molly appears in. So there’s certainly always the possibility for them.

I think the truth is though, the show is over. And because of that we’ll never get a canon answer, so it now belongs to us to decide what happens to the characters afterwards. Thank goodness for fan works, because we don’t need canon to get exactly what we want. ❤️‍🩹

I’ve always taken it that they did mean it romantically, but decided to never actually answer it in text because they were kind of cowards on the whole thing and knew how volatile the fandom could be.

I’m not saying this as a shipper (even though I am), but story wise, it really ONLY makes sense if Sherlock and Molly did end up a couple because of that whole thing.
