  • Wake up and open your curtains. Your windows too.
  • Drink some tea or coffee, whatever pleases you. Notice every sip.
  • Have some fresh fruit and finish breakfast feeling full.
  • Stand outside and feel the air. Cool or warm, it will make you feel real.
  • Get some exercise. Yoga to soothe, running to breathe, lifting for strength.
  • Take care of your body. Have a nice shower and pamper as much as you want afterward.
  • If you’re going to work, remember you have the chance to make anyone’s day or to ruin it. Act accordingly.
  • Weed out the bad language. It’s only creating tension in your body and mind. Kind words are infinitely more appreciated.
  • Take some time each day to improve your mind. Keep reading that great book. Listen to an incredible piece of music. Practice an instrument or a skill. The progress is its own reward.
  • Pictures will help you remember how wonderful life is. But spend less time on your phone and more time seeing the world face to face.
  • Go to sleep knowing that you have done well. Tomorrow is there with room to become even better.

-Notes to myself on how to become a better person this summer.

YOUR NIGHTLY REMINDER THAT ALL TUMMYS ARE NICE TUMMYS AND ALL THIGHS ARE NICE THIGHS AND ALL BOOTYS ARE NICE BOOTYS AND YOU ARE NOT TOO BIG OR TOO LITTLE, YOU ARE EXACTLY WHERE YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO BE AND YOU DESERVE TO LOVE YOURSELF

Coping 101 - a masterpost of down to earth resources

This post doesn’t contain links to many professional resources - it’s a list of coping tips from people who are mentally ill/disabled themselves and who all decided to share what has worked for them here on tumblr. In the last 7 months I have been sharing content created for and by mentally ill/disabled people on this blog - and to celebrate reaching 5000 followers, I have decided to collect all the best coping tips I’ve come across in one easily accessible place. Enjoy!

productive things to do that aren’t studying

  • make your bed
  • take a shower
  • do some journaling
  • exercise/take a walk
  • try a new recipe to make for lunch
  • tidy your room
  • listen to a podcast
  • declutter your phone and laptop
  • read a book
  • take a break (taking breaks are productive!!)

i just think it’s incredible how art can touch people and become facets of their identity... human beings’ capacity for empathy and honest, open understanding is astounding to me sometimes

everyone has a movie or a song or a book that they hold in their heart and can say “if i hadn’t experienced this piece of art at this specific point in my life i would not be the person i am today” and it’s just kind of beautiful how someone can create a piece of art that means something to them and share it with the world, and that thing can literally change another persons life... it’s so uniquely human and so. intimate i think

If you haven’t washed your hands, brushed your teeth, washed your face, and/or showered recently, be sure to take a break soon to do that. Personal hygiene is part of taking care of your health, and you’ll feel better after you do!

If you don’t have means to a therapist or mental health professional

Check out therapistaid.com There’s worksheets there that you can download for free.

Of course it would be a lot more beneficial if you have a therapist to help you through it but not everyone has access to one.

It’s a free site where you can have free downloads of worksheets on many things.

If there’s something there that you think would be helpful, print it out and complete the worksheet on your own.

It’s hard to be accountable for yourself but at least there’s a way for you to have some insight and work on yourself.
