Oh, so you’re an Addam’s Family fan? Then which one’s Addam? You have 10 seconds.
Last night I had a dream that I started taking a character design class and the instructor told us that the way to make characters look friendlier is to give them eyes like this:
I’m just saying that maybe it wouldn’t have turned out quite as bad.
i'm watching megamind for the first time and it's actually good? didn't expect that.
If it isn’t, then like half of this website has trashy taste... but no, you’re right - it’s actually considered an underrated classic.
Fight With Gru
This is actually hilarious.
So my friend told me that he legitimately thought for the first 20 years of his life that horses, not cowboys, said “Yeehaw” and I just
Hold up...
...it’s Vector!
He was almost Vector.
I can’t believe these two powerful entities were almost one.
Please tell me no one has made this joke before:
...ok, for no reason in particular, I’m going to break down exactly what amuses me about the outfit aspect of Hal Stewart’s character design.
There is a lot to unpack here lol.
First of all, the dude is wearing an archaeology vest. I mean... he’s a camera man, who just happens to be wearing an archaeology vest. Why? For what purpose? Lmao.
It’s an odd clothing choice, but a realistic odd clothing choice, somehow. Like I can picture just going to a public place, like a food court somewhere, and seeing a guy just wearing a vest like that for no discernible reason. People do weird shit like this all the time in real life, but conveying that in a movie without automatically dipping into absurdity is really hard to achieve, yet they pulled it off and we have this wonderful, cringeworthy character.
Next is his shirt that says “Error 404 Request Not Found”. It’s a corny t-shirt but actually sums up most of his behavior throughout the movie in actually a lot of different ways. First of all, it suggests that he’s lazy and reluctant to meet what life requests of him, and secondly, whenever Roxanne tries to get away from him, the message is not recieved because Hal simply does not. Listen. Whenever Hal has anything asked of him, he is either blind to it or straight up ignores it. I’m serious. I don’t think there is one point in the entire movie where he actually listens to another human being and it is honestly hilarious.
Next is the frowny face button on his jacket. I mean, you’d expect a smily face from such an outwardly goofy person, but instead he wears a frowny face and that’s the one thing that genuinely stands out from the rest of him upon first impression. He probably wears it to be edgy, contradicting his obnoxious, corny mannerisms... but damn if that is not foreshadowing too. I mean, it’s like a tiny fragment of his appearance that displays his disdain for his existence and internal state of unrest in bright yellow, yet we all ignored it.
Anyway, ramble over. Just something I’ve been thinking about in light of the recent Megamind renaissance.
EDIT: Ok, so apparently he’s wearing a photography vest. That makes a lot more sense lmao. I did not know that many different kinds of profession wear this kind of vest.
