eot au where ten tries to save the master from being pulled back into the time lock by grabbing onto him & of course instead they both get pulled back in together. back to gallifrey in the last days of the time war. possibly imprisoned by rassilon. having to keep up this fragile truce they've established & work together to find a way out

WAIT. what's the only proven way out of the last days of the time war that isn't being the one to end it all. what if they escape by using the chameleon arch together........

Not that I would ever want to give you ideas....

*runs away*

If I was writing this, I'd be tempted to start it off in such a low-stakes setting. Like, John Smith and Harry Saxon in some boring office job. Maybe Saxon as the middle management with a power trip, and John as that really irritating colleague we've all had. They don't like each other, never did. They've just always happened to move in the same professional circles, and developed a grudging recognition that the other is one of the few competent people they work with. It's sort of comic and satire in tone.

Anyway. John has weird dreams. He dreams of a war; an apocalypse; a world that can't possibly exist. And he dreams of his fucking manager, of all people, there in the middle of flames and destruction and a falling city.

I think the more time they spend together, the more vibrant and clear the dreams become, piecing together a story of the Doctor and the Master fleeing Gallifrey, having to hide themselves, sacrifice their Time Lord status as they hurl themselves out of the time lock, desperately hoping for the best. The tone of that part of the story is so much darker, and violent, and full of remembered pain.

Ultimately, John and Harry have to decide whether they open the fobwatches, which life they choose. Or maybe?? 👀 Dare I suggest it? One fobwatch? That's all they had available in the time lock? (I don't know if the Chameleon Arch works like that, but whatever, we're going with it!)

Whichever choice they make, it's all or nothing. One fobwatch. Either they're both stuck in this human (but painless) existence, or they both return to themselves, and all the threat and danger and grief that entails.

(Also, it goes without saying, but obviously there's some emotionally constipated smut happening throughout.)

....Huh. Well that plot just appeared fully formed, didn't it. 🙃

@lgwilt Donna is a temp AND ALL OF THEM HAVE HAD THEIR MEMORIES WIPED?? Genius addition 🤯😂 I have no idea if John Smith would be a threat to her in the same way as the Doctor, but what a cool idea to play with.

Firm believer Donna would take no shit from Harry Saxon, and he quite likes her for that 😅

(Also, she never noticed he bears a striking resemblance to the former PM. She doesn't watch politics.)

Oh my god, this story needs to be told.

I like this new attitude of yours. Tell me: does the “Time Lord Victorious” still need a companion?

@veraynes-blog I think this is sth to your liking 👀

Yes very much 👀

Now I’m just wondering what kind of, uh, convincing demonstration of Time Lord Victorious steel would have been needed to convince the Master to willingly submit to being a companion 👀 That single line of dialogue opens up so much intrigue. I love it.

I wanna read more Timelord Victorious/Simm master. 😋

her parents are away for the weekend to attend a religious retreat, so- what if Eddie & Chrissy undress and kiss underwater in the Cunninghams' pool on a hot (and unforgettable) August night?? 💙

Still think they are adorable. 💕
