IF LIFE IS A GAME THEY SAY I CAN'T WIN

@stormbluestories / stormbluestories.tumblr.com

anime enthusiast

IT SAYS WHOSE LIKE IT IS. IT SAYS LIKED BY "-----" ITS OVER FOR ME

ok sorry for panicking. apparently if your likes are hidden, your liked posts won't get recommended to people

[Image description: a screenshot reading:

"We've renamed the 'Include stuff in your orbit' dashboard setting to 'Include posts liked by the blogs you follow'. It still controls the same behavior: whether or not you'll see posts liked by blogs you follow in your Following feed. Also, reminder that you can hide your own likes from this feature in your blog settings."

End description.]

for those who are new, or old but want to double-check, go to tumblr.com/settings/blog/[blogname] and make sure this slider is toggled off:

[Image description: a Tumblr setting reading: "Likes: Share posts you like. Make your likes public at..." with a slider toggled off. End description.]

it’s a minor nitpicky thing that i promise i can easily suspend disbelief for in this fantasy universe but botw’s concept of what kinds of foods will have what effects on you is kinda funny… like ok sure you eat watermelon during the summer to cool off. but only simmered watermelon??? that probably has all the moisture taken out? you can’t just eat a raw melon as nature intended? oh and spicy peppers help you to warm up. they definitely don’t just burn your mouth and make the rest of your body sweat. like dude. there’s a reason why real-world cultures in hotter climates are more fond of spice. there’s a reason. if you want to survive in cold places you gotta eat warm food. just temperature-wise. eat your soup. make bread and cheese. or wear layers. do NOT shove five roasted jalapeños in your mouth lol

it's really funny to me how, with the bad situations in Zora, Rito, and Gerudo lands, our Champion-successors are doing everything they can to help their people and stop the situation caused by the Upheavel causing even more hurt, and then over in Goron City, Yunobo is actively making everything worse for everyone. I can't believe that sweet bumbling boy turned into a rampant capitalist. I'm gonna kick his ass.

Listen, if you’re craving sugar to the point where it feels like a “drug addiction” (and even drug addiction is complex & widely misunderstood), then you’re too hungry. You’re too hungry!

The pleasurability of sugar and the reward that sugar creates in the brain is much more pronounced in what the literature calls “restrained eaters” than it is in intuitive eaters. Sugar is usually pleasurable for most people, but in non-restrained eaters its appeal will be highest at our hungriest and decrease significantly with satiety. Restrictive eaters don’t experience satiety, because they constantly maintain an energy deficit, and that’s why sugar feels like a “drug.” Dietary sugar is fast, efficient energy for a deprived body, and our smart bodies drive us to it powerfully for that reason, to rectify the energy deficit.

Dietary sugar is great. It’s not a threat. It doesn’t cause disease. It’s not a drug. It’s a healthy part of a pleasurable diet. But if it feels to you like you’re completely out of control around it because of the intensity of its pleasurability, you need to be eating more calories, period.

is it too late for me to do one of these. whatever here

youre all wrong the christianity one wasnt the fake

[Plain text: you're all wrong the christianity wasn't the fake. End plain text]

Once again, I am BEGGING people to realize that tumblr tags are a filing system and not a visibility metric.

One does not come to tumblr to tag-spam for notes and get popular. There is no algorithm here. There is no monetization here. There are no influencers here.

This is where every other social media system comes to die. And we cackle and roast marshmallows on the pyre like the gremlins we are.

If you tag-spam to get your post seen by as many people as possible you are actually getting blocked by a bunch of people pissed off that you shoved an unrelated post into a tag they were looking through for relevant content. You also are going to be reported by people for spam. Because you are spamming.

If you spam you are going to get reported as spam!

makes me CRAZY how well atla illustrates all the different ways countries can be affected by colonization and imperialism…the air nomads wiped out in a relatively brief military campaign. the southern water tribe slowly worn down and violated over the course of decades. the northern water tribe completely isolating and turning to strict tradition in the face of a horrifying enemy. the decentralized earth kingdom being affected in varying ways, with some areas completely untouched but terrified that they’ll be next, some areas in an uneasy peace with the fire nation in exchange for economic domination, and some areas completely taken over. and just the ways that these kind of interplay…like the trauma katara and sokka have as people who live relatively safe from invasion, but with the threat of another raid always on the horizon, terrified that the next one will wipe them out for good, is completely different from the trauma aang has, as someone who lost everything and didnt witness the brutality, only its aftermath, and that’s completely different from the trauma that suki has, with kyoshi out of the war but constantly training in preparation for an invasion, and thats completely different from the trauma haru has, as an earthbender in an actively occupied village. and theres so much more too like theres all these complex and nuanced situations and none are objectively better or worse than the other but it shows exactly how many tools imperialism uses to demoralize and defeat those its directed against

It also shows tha trauma war has done to the imperialists. Their homeland is polluted from the industrialization that’s allowed them 100 years of war. Their people have lost the nuances of their culture, everything “traditional” is actually a hundred years old or less. The people have forgotten how to dance, and the economy revolves around war and colonialism. The government and ruling class is corrupt and oppressive.
