well, lol, what are u doing here?..

Douglas Adams is the best when it comes to describe characters

they need to teach classes on Douglas Adams analogies okay

“He leant tensely against the corridor wall and frowned like a man trying to unbend a corkscrew by telekinesis.”

“Stones, then rocks, then boulders which pranced past him like clumsy puppies, only much, much bigger, much, much harder and heavier, and almost infinitely more likely to kill you if they fell on you.”

“He gazed keenly into the distance and looked as if he would quite like the wind to blow his hair back dramatically at that point, but the wind was busy fooling around with some leaves a little way off.”

“It looked only partly like a spaceship with guidance fins, rocket engines and escape hatches and so on, and a great deal like a small upended Italian bistro.”

“If it was an emotion, it was a totally emotionless one. It was hatred, implacable hatred. It was cold, not like ice is cold, but like a wall is cold. It was impersonal, not as a randomly flung fist in a crowd is impersonal, but like a computer-issued parking summons is impersonal. And it was deadly - again, not like a bullet or a knife is deadly, but like a brick wall across a motorway is deadly.”

And, of course: “The ships hung in the sky in much the same way that bricks don’t.”

the one that will always stay with me is “Arthur Dent was grappling with his consciousness the way one grapples with a lost bar of soap in the bath,” i feel like that was the first time i really understood what you could do with words.

I will reblog this every time I see it because these are some of my favorite sentences in the English language.

Oil and Water: An Obito Uchiha Character Analysis

image

The following are my scattered thoughts on the layout and progression of Obito Uchiha’s character. I’ve previously posted this a while back on a forum like a year ago but found that I wanted to share with a wider audience, if I should be so fortunate. With that out of the way, here we go. And warning, it’s quite long.

I have so many feelings about the TodoBaku stuff in the new OVA.

First, Todoroki acknowledging Bakugou as one of the people who would think of starting the backup power alongside Midoriya and Yaoyorozou - two people he respects the most out of the class.

Then, using Dark Shadow and his fire to get to Bakugou when he realizes that he could be in danger, despite not wanting to risk it before.

Bakugou’s first gut reaction to Todoroki is pure annoyance, because for Bakugou, this training exercise is about reclaiming his identity as a hero - he wants to prove that he can pull off a rescue, he can get out of every situation alone and he’s unwilling to be in the role of the victim anymore.

But as they climb up the ice ladder Todoroki made, Bakugou analyses the entire situation and his reaction changes. When Todoroki sends the others away, Bakugou knows that Shouto staying behind means his chances of getting out unscathed are really low - something that nobody else from the group realizes at the time.

Because of Bakugou’s decision to save the training dummy, Todoroki accepts to put himself in real danger to buy time for the others to get out.

I am not the Zoro you love. I have stolen him from you, out of selfishness or love but all for you.

You are not my Zoro and I miss how you were, but out of all versions of you I will always choose the one who is here with me over the ones who are gone.

Yall should go read The Next Right Thing by MelodramaticCoffeeAddict on AO3! It’s got lots of quality Vivi time and also lots of Zoro being vulnerable and human and also full of so much love. Great fic, hurts very good, the catharsis is REAL!

Gintama (2003 - 2019) → major groups / organizations

Sorachi Hideaki, thank you for creating a lazy, sugar-loving, nose-picking, loves the weather lady, never pays the rent, freelancing protagonist that protects the ones he loves and saves the world. Thank you for creating a pair of glasses, a hard-core fanboy, the only sane one in the trio and at times can make us very proud. Thank you for creating such a cute heroine, loves eating, and a super strong queen that we all love. Thank you for creating a super big and fluffy cute dog. Thank you for Elizabeth. Thank you for creating a terrorist whose most evil plan (the main one I remember), was to flip the enemy’s toilet paper around. Thank you for making me never look at mayonnaise the same again. Thank you for teaching me about S&M. Thank you for all the no toilet paper and poop jokes, (makes me wonder if Sorachi actually suffers from issues like these). Thank you for creating such an amazing series, filled with strong female characters that can kick anyone’s ass, for all the dicks jokes, for writing arcs that can pull heartstrings, and most importantly, thank you for being the best gorilla sensei. Thank you for 15 years of Gintama.
