Jaylah from STAR TREK BEYOND

RuPaul mug art, Season 9 edition
A B-movie-style poster for one of my favourite Star Trek episodes that started as a study of Diana Muldaur’s character but got out of hand.
(Fun fact discovered while doing this: the Jean Lisette Aroeste mentioned on the poster was a librarian who wrote two episodes of Star Trek, “Is There in Truth No Beauty?” and “All Our Yesterdays”, which was her only work in television.)
“Is There in Truth No Beauty?” first aired 48 years ago today
My bf’s RuPaul mug got ruined in the dishwasher so I designed a new one for his birthday
Break time Jaylah (I really liked Star Trek Beyond)
Nicki Minaj and Lady Gaga looked like X-Men at the Met Ball
Rewatched The Big Sleep at the weekend and loved the way imagery was used in constructing the mystery. The poster traditionally used to market the film is pretty iconic but doesn’t really sell that aspect of the film, so I wanted to do something that reflected the content of the film a bit more.
Another D&D character, which I actually drew around the same time as the one below (which I posted last year), but only got around to finishing now. I was going to do the whole party, but I only got as far as these two before our game kind of fell apart.
An idea I had for a future-set Star Trek where Data had “evolved” into a ship-wide holographic interface, replacing the audio-only Computer (with the “real-world” reason of allowing Brent Spiner to reprise the role despite the fact that he doesn’t look the same as he did in 1987)
Process post for my Animation Art Show piece, Egg Thief. I roughed it out in Photoshop and then printed and traced it onto watercolour paper to paint before finishing it off with coloured pencil. The show opens this Saturday, followed by the auction on April 17, where all proceeds will go to charity.
