The Ideas Weren’t the Freshest, But the Democratic Debate Was a Clear Win for Hillary Clinton

In the world of politics before Donald Trump came to save us from rational discourse, most debates were stately, inconclusive affairs. Oh, there would be an occasional zinger or oops moment. There were campaigns that died or came to life on the stage, but for the most part debates, especially in the preprimary months, ratified what already was. This was especially true in years when there was a political consensus among the candidates, as there was in the first Democratic debate of the 2016 cycle. It was an engaging debate, and a serious one, but no barns were burned, moderators insulted, hair sprayed stiff or set on fire. Hillary Clinton won, but not by default.

Hypocritical Republicans are sO desperate to dig up dirt on the Obamas, but the best they could come up with was a leaked snapchat from a right wing tabloid of Malia standing next to a beer pong table while visiting a college

God forbid she be a carefree black girl and have any fun

Government's commitment to take just 4,000 refugees this year is not good enough - Yvette Cooper

Yvette Cooper MP, Chair of Labour’s Refugee Taskforce, commenting on the Bishops’ decision to release a private letter to David Cameron in frustration over the Government’s inaction on the refugee crisis, said:

“The bishops signing this letter are right - the British public stand ready to do more to help those fleeing conflict, violence and persecution. We know thousands of people have signed petitions, donated clothes, food and tents and even offered space in their own homes. As this letter makes clear, leaders of all faith groups are united in the call that we can - and must - do more.

"The Government’s commitment to take just 4,000 refugees this year is not good enough. Over 3,000 people are arriving on the Greek island of Lesvos each day. If every city and county took 10 refugee families, that would help 10,000 refugees this year alone.

"This is not asking a huge amount of our government. Simply to fulfil our duty in the worst humanitarian crisis since the Second World War.”

“It’s Scotland’s fault”

A yes. Tell me more about how those 330 English Tory MPs were Scotland’s fault.

Maybe a few more of those 330 English MPs would be Labour if the SNP hadn't scared away all the shitbrained middle englanders...

Anonymous asked:

Why shouldn't the rich and middle-class vote in favour of their own interests? Serious question - the poor are not expected vote for policies that do not favour them, and well they should not be. But why should anyone be expected to vote in favour of tax raises for themselves, the benefit of which will certainly not impact them, and any other of the many policies Labour/Greens would inflict? If I have worked hard at my job to get the salary I have now, why should I give it up for their ideals?

How about because of basic human compassion?

Not being funny but kids are literally living in poverty. They are literally relying on food banks to survive.

But heaven forfend the richest and most comfortable in society give a tiny bit more tax to help the most needy, eh?

For the love of God, please don’t vote Conservative today.

If you are yet to exercise your democratic right today, then I urge you to make your cross anything but blue. Literally anything else (maybe not UKIP).

It may be hard to remember - through all the election propaganda - but think back on the past five years:

(Student fee protest, 2010)

(London riots, 2011)

(Protest against the Privatisation of the NHS, 2012)

(Never ending food bank queue in central London, 2012)

(Protests against the Bedroom Tax, Glasgow, 2013)

(Protests against proposed military action in Syria, Central London, Ed Miliband being the one who put a decisive stop to this, 2013)

(David Cameron literally putting the Union on the line with the Scottish Referendum, 2014)

REMEMBER? PLEASE VOTE ANYTHING BUT CONSERVATIVE TODAY. THEY WILL ‘CUT’ THE DEFICIT BUT AT WHAT MORAL COST?

THE COUNTRY CAN’T TAKE ANOTHER FIVE YEARS.

I leave you with the words of a political titan, the father of the NHS himself, Nye Bevan:

‘No amount of cajolery, and no attempts at ethical or social seduction, can eradicate from my heart a deep burning hatred for the Tory Party. So far as I am concerned they are lower than vermin’.

So I live in a pretty low-income left-wing area and everyone’s been really bummed out since the last election and the Conservative win.

But this morning at 2AM there was a man in the street outside my flat running up to people, laughing and yelling “DAVID CAMERON FUCKED A PIG! OUR PRIME MINISTER FUCKED A PIG!” at the top of his lung, and he sounded so happy.

This - this is the true magic of #piggate
