this is what its like being autistic on tumblr
Some Halstarion for yall.
when the essay prompt lets me get a little autistic with it
Gale has fallen in battle! T_T Astarion clinging to him and begging him to get up? a little angst makes the fluff all the sweeter <3
Indeed my friend...indeed...😈
I hope it's okay; this set really inspired me.
Astarion's heart pounded as he rushed through the streets. Around him, the air was thick with the cries of the fleeing and the defiant shouts of those too brave—or too foolish—to retreat. He ignored them all. None of them mattered; the only one who mattered was-
"Gale!" His voice tore from his throat when he finally spotted the man he had been desperately searching for. Gale was on the ground, not moving, and Astarion felt the cold tendrils of panic begin to take hold. If it were possible, he would have paled at the sight of the wizard's limp body.
Astarion stumbled to Gale's side with none of his usual grace, falling to his knees hard in front of Gale's- In front of Gale. His hands were shaking. His eyes scanned the wizard's body, looking for any large wounds or bleeding that would need to be stopped, but nothing looked too out of place, aside from some dirt smeared on his cloak and a few singe marks.
Astarion reached out with a gentleness saved only for his lover; he cradled Gale's cheek, lifting his head slowly. His other hand caressed Gale's face before sliding down to rest with hesitant hope against his neck. The faint flutter of a pulse beneath his fingers coaxed a sigh of relief from Astarion's lips, assuaging a fear he had refused to entertain.
Alive. Gale was alive. The realization coursed through Astarion with a force that momentarily steadied his trembling hands. He adjusted his position, his arm moving with careful determination to wrap around Gale, lifting the man into his arms with a gentleness he never would have thought himself capable of before Gale. Gale could not embrace him back. Astarion's hand cradled the back of Gale's head, guiding it to rest against his chest, pressing him as close as physically possible. He buried his face into the crook of the wizard's shoulder, his eyes slipping closed as he sought solace in the fact that Gale was alive.
Unconscious but alive. Astarion closed his eyes, a shudder running through him as he clung to this truth. "Alive, alive, alive," he whispered into Gale's skin. It didn't matter how limp he was or how his typical warmth was gone. Gale was alive.
Astarion kept Gale close. He let out a steady breath as he lifted his head from Gale's shoulder, his ruby eyes glowing with rage as they narrowed and his lips pulled back in a feral snarl.
Gale was alive, but whoever had hurt him wouldn't be for much longer.
Quick PSA, if you get one of those "Work scanned, AI use detected" comments on AO3, just mark them as spam.
Some moron apparently built a bot to annoy or prank hundreds of authors.
There is no scanning process, your work doesn't actually resemble AI writing, it's all bullshit. Mark the comment as spam (on AO3, not the email notification you got about the comment!) and don't let it get to you.
The spam comments have evolved.
They are now also linking to a site they claim is able to scan works and tell you whether they were AI written or not, and that you should do that before reading a fic.
It should go without saying that you should not, under no circumstances, visit a site advertised in a spam comment.
In this case, I'd say there's even a chance that the "scanning" site is actually used to scrape fics and use them for future AI writing. What it definitely doesn't do is tell you whether something was AI written or not. That's a bullshit claim.
Don't use that site. Don't believe these spam comments, whether you get them on your own works or see them on someone else's.
It's all bullshit.
Just got another one, so here's what they look like to anyone curious. They're never real users, either, just keysmashes for the display name.
Image Description: a screenshot of an AO3 comment by nlaoboh that says HoloAI pattern found in work. To all readers, before you read please scan the work with an AI detector like gowinston.ai and call out all AI using cheaters /end ID
As someone who works in education, actual AI detectors don't even work well and are rendered obsolete within weeks if not days. Please spread this around to spare your fellow writers and reader!
spiders have got to figure out contracting I need to be able to call my local spiders union and be like "hey can you send a guy out for a few days the fruit flies are back" and then pay it in spider currency. I'll learn the conversion rates. I'll be generous with my rounding. please.
@forbiddenpebble this passed the peer review:
So, we all love Gale’s mirror image/simulacrum, and how the ‘certain measure of Gale’s personality’ that he retains is Gale’s sweet, dorky charm…but is Gale himself aware of this?
I don’t believe we ever see Gale actually interact with his mirror image, as it always appears as a replacement when Gale is elsewhere.
It’s possible Gale has always just assumed he’s created this 100% straightforward, serious mirror image who radiates scholarly intelligence…because surely, that’s the aspect of his personality that it would pull from, right?
Imagine if one night, after Gale and Tav are married and living in Waterdeep, they start reminiscing about their romance. Tav brings up their first night together, and mentions how surprised they were to see Gale’s mirror image standing in his place at camp.
Gale is pleased, and says with a gentle laugh that he hopes Tav wasn’t too intimidated by his simulacrum’s stoic nature.
To which Tav responds oh no, not at all! They loved how adorable he was, and they still remember the cute pose he did to represent Gale’s personality!
Gale (perplexed): …darling, whatever do you mean? What pose…?
Cue Tav, perfectly miming this:
Gale:
HE DID WHAT
The Rizzard of Waterdeep
I JUST CHECKED THIS IS REAL IM SCREAMING
When you’ve spent 92 years on this earth with the name “Dick Van Dyke” and you’re only just now hearing the dumbest possible joke about it.
just crying over how romantic Freddie & Jim were nbd
So I read the book, and almost everytime Jim gave/made Freddie a gift, Freddie would always show it off and say “My husband got me those!” or “My husband made that for me!” It’s so sweet, especially for this one part when they first started dating:
yeah?
2 minutes no looking at pictures of The Character
new reaction image
Please. Help.
The girl I'm dating and I both think that we sleep on the left side of the bed. I'm coming to terms with the fact that she may be a psychopath and I don't know what's real anymore.
"left" and "right" are both relative terms determined relative to a person. The correct answers are port and starboard.
the headboard is the stern
Yeah this one seems pretty straightforward. I'm sure there's some exceptions, but every depiction I can think of, including IRL race car beds, agrees.
i spent too long on this and regret nothing
Nor should you, this is glorious
