Stuff and Things

@stdick46

There are stuff and things here. Enjoy

What is going on with the world??

Jesus…

In a move that has sparked outcry from archaeologists, historians and locals, the Peruvian government has approved a multi-billion international airport near the famed site of Machu Picchu, Peru’s single most important tourist destination. Bulldozers have begun to clear millions of tons of earth for the project, which will be located in Chinchero, a picturesque Inca town.

Building the airport in this location will destroy an ancient landscape, one shaped by the Incan people with terraces and routes.

Critics also suggest that planes flying low over the nearby village of Ollantaytambo and its archaeological park filled with ruins and a massive Inca fortress with large stone terraces, would cause incalculable damage to fragile Inca ruins there and destroy the peace and beauty of the area.

The new airport will make access to the site much easier, and thus encourage greater numbers than ever before to visit.

But Machu Picchu is already overwhelmed by almost double the limit of tourists as recommended by UNESCO. [see also India’s Taj Mahal - an incredible site simply reeling under a relentless, ineffectively managed tourist, both domestic and international, onslaught]

It’s the constant battle between protecting the past and profiteering from it.

Why the fuck was this even approved!?!

Listen, “asshole with a heart of gold” is a good trope but you know what we need more than that???

Dumbass with a heart of gold. Just, a complete moron who cares a whole fucking lot. An idiot who would die for a stranger. A goddamn dimwit so fucking in love with someone that they’d do anything for ‘em.

I'll let you know how it goes when I get a biopic made about my life 🙏🏼

Beavers (The Superpower Field Guide series) by Rachel Paloquin, illustrated by Nicholas John Firth.  Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, 2018. 9780544949874.  96pp including a glossary and a list of books for further reading. http://amzn.to/2F6dGoV - Paloquin and Firth are determined to convince young readers that beavers are amazing (they convinced me), from how these rodents chew down trees (Superpower #1: Chainsaw Teeth) to their Unstoppable Fur (power #2, which is why beaver felt hats are so popular) to how they build their dams and survive the winter and etc. There are many details in this tidy package, all arranged in a format that’s a lot of fun and easy to follow. - The art is entirely enjoyable, and the entire tone of the book makes this a worthy next step up, reading level-wise, from Elise Gravel’s Disgusting Critters series. There’s even a bit of gross content (specifically Superpower #8: Turbocharged Superstink, plus an aside on why beavers eat their poop). Plus there’s this, from the colophon: “The illustrations in this book were produced using a mixture of black ink, pencil, and wax crayon on paper, in a technique known as preseparation. For printing purposes here, the artwork was colored digitally.” I love knowing how illustrations are made!

I know everyone’s talking about how the cast of Danny Phantom is full of gay and trans characters exclusively to piss of Butch Hartman but let us not forget, Butch’s bread and butter, Fairly Odd Parents…

Timmy’s parents were 100% sure that Timmy was going to be a girl before he was born, as seen in the episode Secret Origin of Denzel Crocker.

Cosmo seems to be the only other one in the know about this, and has baby pictures of Timmy in a dress on hand

Then, in the episode The Boy Who Would Be Queen…

When Wanda does, inevitably, transform Timmy into a girl to teach him a lesson…

Cosmo immediately panics.

AND in the episode “It’s a Wishful LIfe” when Timmy wishes he never existed…

The Turners have a daughter instead.

In conclusion:

Timmy Turner is trans and used the power of one of his fairy godparents to wish that everyone in his life completely forget that he was born and raised female for a portion of his life, including his parents and his other fairy godparent.

Unfinished comic from a long time ago that wasn’t ever going to be completed. It makes absolutely no sense, but honestly in its current state i think it’s the funniest thing so I’m not adding to it.

Anyway.

Posting a video later today. Expect that. Anddd uhh yeah see you then.
