cannot believe “if youre gonna recommend me a book you should tell me what its about” is a hot take on this fucking website
!!!!
Ok some people like knowing the plot before they read and some people don’t LET PEOPLE ENJOY WHAT THEY WANT THE WAY THEY WANT TO AND C A L M D O W N
? this is my blog you can block me. also it is not hard to copy and paste the synopsis from goodreads and then ALSO put in ”wlw ownvoices WOC lead childhood friends to enemies to lovers”. if you only give me the latter i am not reading the book.
i am not talking about how you enjoy the media you consume. i am talking about how you recommend it to others.
No no no I wasn’t attacking u I was telling everyone who’s going “you need a plot” and “you don’t need a plot” to stop fighting and let people do what they want. I’m sorry if it sounded like I was offending you or anyone else. I can see how it might’ve looked like I was yelling at you and I should’ve clarified that I was just trying to tell everyone to stop fighting. Also I agree with you that providing a summary is pretty easy and if the person prefers it, it should be provided.
TS tweet 01/04/21 :
It’s time to tell you I’ve made peace with the vegetable I’ve loathed for so long. #NewProfilePic #TwoCanPlayAtThisGameYouWilyRascals 🥕
[ context: a bunch of people on twitter decided to prank thomas by teasing him for his hate of carrots and putting carrots as their profile pic ]
tumblr won’t let me repost it because it’s too heavy but Thomas just posted a video of him literally just biting a carrot (with a loud crunch) and swallowing the entire bite and i’m- that’s- the things he does for entertainment...
(he visibly struggles, a lot. and it’s both painful and hilarious to watch.)

Carlos being a naturally cold person.
Jay draping his letterman over Carlos’ shoulders and holding his cold hands and joking that he’ll warm him up with his own “hotness.” Jay making suggestive jokes and Carlos rolling his eyes. Them cuddling by the fireplace. Jay wrapping a blanket around Carlos when he falls asleep in the library.
Just... Jay warming Carlos up because he loves him and wants him to be comfortable.
Jay making sure that none of the (multiple) jackets that Carlos wears are made of animal skin and leather because Carlos doesn’t like hurting animals

y’all really recommend books like: title, there are gay characters, enemies to lovers, young adult, written by poc
not once do i ever see a summary
What more info do you need?
A SUMMARY
WHAT DO U MENA SUMMARY WHAT ELSE MATTERS ITS GAY POC AND ENEMIES TO LOVERS HOW OFTEN DO U CONE ACROSS THAT
i want to know what its about mainly. is it a romance? is there plot besides the romance? is it realistic fiction? sci fi? fantasy? historical? future? alternate history? whats the tone? what are the themes? what are the main characters’ NAMES?
I- it’s gay the gay
okay but like. if its enemies to lovers with guns and space battles* im absolutely not reading it regardless of diversity but if its enemies to lovers and theyre trying to get into the same art school irl but theyre crushing on each other online over fanfic*** then im absolutely going to read it. and if its enemies to lovers as time travel rival spies leaving each other letters** i will be more likely to read it if its also queer but i’d still need to know about the time travel rival spies to want to read it at all. Do You See The Difference
*i dont know if this book exists
**this book exists and i plan on getting it
***this book exists it is very good
I don’t want a summary because plot is never why I read a book. I read it for the pretty sentences and prose where I go “Fuck no one’s ever put that into words like that before” the diversity of characters is gonna tell me about that. If I hear only about the plot I’m not gonna read it because that tells me nothing about what I come to a book for.
Exactly! And the second I hear that a book is supporting the lgbtqia+ community and the poc community I’m gonna read that book and support it no matter the plot. Plus, I never really read books for the plot I read it for the lessons and messages that the books bring. But I understand if you need to know more about the plot in order to want to read a book.
Anyway it's so fucking weird when people act like it's impossible for trans men to be oppressed in any way like hey. Have you ever listened to a single trans man about our actual experiences. Or are you just making assumptions about what our lives are like because Uh, Man Stinky ? Because babe I promise I'm only seen as A Man™ when it's convenient for cis people
Here's the thing. Cis women see me as The Enemy™ and cis men see me as a woman and we all know what they think about them. Yes trans men are men and there is nuance to this there is a level of conditional privilege involved but if you think we're treated the exact same as cis men you're fucking stupid. Transphobia exists
And it's not just about whether or not we have male privilege (we can, under certain circumstances) it's like, anything. I've been told "nobody's gonna call [me] a [f slur] in real life" when I literally have been. I'm a man if you want to be homophobic. I'm a woman if you want to exclude me from mlm spaces. I've personally experienced both of these. It's literally just whatever cis people want to make me an Other™ for

Poll: if your mom remarries when you’re 26 years old is that guy still your stepdad or is he just your mom’s husband.
The poll winner seems to be “depends on whether you like him” which is super valid.
Mine watches fox news so “mom’s husband” it is!
My family has a great way of distinguishing between a new spouse you like and new spouse you disdain!
Your mom/aunt/grandma/etc remarries and they are actually a cool person, you use their first name. So if you were to introduce them they would be: Aunt Jane and Bob.
If your mom/aunt/grandma/etc remarries and they are a fuckwad you introduce them as: this is Aunt Jane and her second husband. The implication being that they are very replaceable and that we’re all just waiting for her to wise up to the situation and serve you divorce papers, she did it once, she can do it again.
MAGNIFICENT
Alright, but what if my mom on her third marriage found a decent man, but my mother herself is shitty
"my stepdad's wife"
the best thing about this is that when there’s plenty of resources, domesticated cats will naturally form colonies. in these colonies female cats raise their kittens communally with their kin. so you get situations where moms will raise kittens with their daughters from a previous litter, cats from the same litter will raise kittens together, etc. so not only does this little old kitty see her human as family, she is also excited to help her with her kitten.
Sometimes a grandma is a little creature that lives on the floor
The breadsticks thing to me is hilarious I think it must be another Europe/America thing bc my whole life ‘breadsticks’ have been these hard crunchy thin stick things you buy them at the supermarket and it says breadsticks on the box Never in my life has anyone around me referred to an actual stick of bread as a breadstick lmao But then we don’t have Olive Garden either
wait, that’s not what they’re talking about?
Are you telling me this meme is not about grissini? My life is a lie!
I… did wonder why there would be such a focus on going to somewhere with unlimited dry wheat twigs. Googling ‘olive garden breadsticks’ does seem to suggest a tastier thing.
Huh.
this changes everything
I mean, I thought it was odd that they everyone was so excited about breadsticks… but then I thought, well, it’s America…
Wait they’re talking about actual bread???
grissini:
breadsticks:
… I want American breadsticks. ;_;
@goodbyecassiel - this is the Great Breadstick Misunderstanding, companion to the Epic Lemonade Confusion post
@charlottedabookworm my life is a lie
Omfg same
wtaf why did nobody ever tell us they were talking about actual bread?!?!
We literally did tell you. We. We used the word BREAD.
but………… those aren’t breadsticks!
They are sticks.
Of bread.
🤷♂️
We didn’t know you had breadtwigs instead.
OH the joke is funnier than previously thought because those are bigger and therefore it would be harder and more socially awkward to shove them into your purse! Lol
I feel like this is explaining a joke to Vulcans who are totally game to try humor, and I’m loving it.

Beth Moon, a photographer based in San Francisco, has been searching for the world’s oldest trees for the past 14 years. She has traveled all around the globe to capture the most magnificent trees that grow in remote locations and look as old as the world itself.
“Standing as the earth’s largest and oldest living monuments, I believe these symbolic trees will take on a greater significance, especially at a time when our focus is directed at finding better ways to live with the environment” writes Moon in her artist statement.
Sixty of Beth Moon’s duotone photos were published in a book titled “Ancient Trees: Portraits Of Time”. Here you can have a sneak preview of the book, full of strangest and most magnificent trees ever.
