Above the Horizon (Ouroboros) oil on panel Andrzej Urbanowicz (1938-2011)
This is the process of my painting Tlaloc Steals the Tongue of Cipactli.
I painted this scene on gouache and ink. It is based on a contemporary indigenous story, which tells of how the Lord of Rain battled against Cipactli, the primordial monster, with whose body the Earth and the Heavens were created. He stole Her tongue, which was the lightning, and gave it to His servants, the Tlaloqueh, who make the rain fall down upon the Earth.
This painting will be part of my exhibition at Art Bug Gallery in Los Angeles, which will open on April 23rd
