Nothing makes me go homicidal more than seeing someone bash Lily. NOTHING. Listen man, I don't care if you want to ship James with Voldemort or Dumbledore or Peter or Frank! Just don't use it as an excuse to turn the ultimate MOTHER Lily Evans into some villain. And especially don't use your ship as a way to steal Lily's own child from her and turn Harry against her like.. LILY EVANS?! The woman whose blood magic fucked up Voldemort's body 14 years after her death to once again protect her son? Y'all DARE say shit about her? Have a heart!
actually jiang cheng is the most emotionally normal character in the untamed. everyone else is either like "oh these unthinkable tragedies have happened to me... time to bear it like a hero and immediately continue doing good and noble deeds" or "hmm. unthinkable tragedies have happened to me, so i must construct an intricate plan to take down society" while jiang cheng is like "unthinkable tragedies have happened to me. i need to have a breakdown before continuing with my life"
People against piracy fail to realize that no, I can’t just ‘buy it.’ They stopped making DVDs and Blu-Rays. They’re barely offering digital copies for download. I am not spending money I could use for food or bills to pay for a subscription service just so I can always have access to a beloved piece of media. Especially not when the service will remove media on a whim without concern for how the loss of access to that piece will make its artistic conservation nigh impossible.
For example, I recently learned that Disney+ had an original film called Crater. It’s scifi, family friendly, and seems cool - I would love to buy it as a holiday gift for my little brother! But: it’s exclusive to D+ and THEY REMOVED IT LITERALLY MONTHS AFTER ITS RELEASE.
The ONLY way I can directly access this film is through piracy. The ONLY available ‘copies’ of this film are hosted on piracy websites. Disney will NEVER release it in theaters, or as something to buy, and it may NEVER return to the streaming service. It will be LOST because we aren’t allowed to purchase it for personal viewing. If I can’t pay to own it, I won’t pay for the privilege of losing it when corporate decides to put it in a vault.
So yes, I’m going to pirate and support piracy.
So, who was gonna tell me that ‘No Nightingales’ is a book about two ghosts preventing a war from happening, then being in a love-hate relationship and not talking to each other for 66 years in a house on Berkeley Square??
hot take but i think some whovians who believe doctor who was at its best with tennant or smith will never be happy with the show. comparing new episodes to the feeling of nostalgia is a fight that no showrunner or actor can win. there were issues with moffat and chibnall's eras of course but they were by no means the train wrecks that people say. i've been rewatching some of tennant's run and let me just say, if some of those stories had whittaker in the titles then they would have been ripped to shreds. it's okay to have rose-coloured glasses (pun intended) for a particular era but man. people are setting themselves up for disappointment when the vibes of the new era aren't exactly the same as the original rtd run. i can see it now.
Honestly I love Russell but come on, love and monsters?, fear her?, the idiots lantern?, every doctor has had their share of misses and we tend to forget that. I donr want doctor who to be ever be like it was, the joy of the show is its continual reinventing, the way it can become something new and wholly different. Bring on ncuti gatwa and the next season.
Sucks that "sleeping together" refers to sex. Sometimes a fella just wants to snooze with a pal.

The Vampire’s Widow, Ed Binkley
so when straight people ask me why I say I’m “queer” or “gay” instead of sharing my actual identity as a panromantic demisexual non-binary sapphic queer I just tell them “ok look, when you’re talking to someone who isn’t local and they ask you where you’re from and you either say the name of the largest city nearby or ‘town name, suburb of large nearby city’ so they can get some geographical context of where you’re located right, bc they’re probably not going to know the name of the little town you actually live in.”
but if you’re talking to a local you can say the name of your actual town bc they have a greater chance of knowing where/what that is.
ok well when I’m talking to a straight person I start with queer bc chances are they aren’t as familiar with the context of all the little towns in that big queer city and need gps (gay positioning system) to find me.
if I’m talking to another queer person and I say I live in a suburb of gay city in a town called panromantic on the demisexual side of the tracks which is in the county of queer and I live off the intersection of non-binary and sapphic, they’d probably be able to find me with little to no problems, make sense?
Also because my exact address in Queertown is usually nobody's business.
You gotta read wips. You gotta read stories that have been abandoned or haven't been updated in weeks, months, years. You have to give a story a chance even on the chance it never gets finished. The biggest reason besides personal stuff for a story to get abandoned is the lack of engagement. A comment is sometimes all it needs for a new chapter, even years later. Read that wip from 2017 that never saw the final chapter. Leave a comment that you loved it. Subscribe to the story. Sometimes you need to appreciate the things that never got finished, and perhaps make an author's day that someone loved their story despite that. Comment on wips. Comment on every chapter. It makes a difference.
I wish Americans fucked with more foreign music. You don’t have to know the language to appreciate a good record. Folks in other countries listen to our music and don’t speak a lick of english. Music needs no translator
yall wont trick me into listening to kpop
You can try Radiooooo.com - The Musical Time Machine!!
choose a country, pick a decade, and GO!!
you’ll get an endless streaming of songs (ad free!).
I personally found myself loving 1970s Ghana, Senegal and Cote d’Ivoire! Also 1920s and 1970s Japan for sure! Cambodian music: spectacular. Love Armenia and Mali as well. I’ve been told 70s Germany is weird and 30s Algeria is cool but I haven’t gotten around to those yet. Italy’s 1960s is bomb ofc but I’m biased ;)
This is the best website anyone has ever shared.

i've compiled a list of all the blogs positively interacting with the @/israel-palestine-bingo blog
there's more info about how the names were complied under the read more, but just to get an idea of how vile the blog is, i just want to quickly mention that the first prize offered in their pinned post, "eight hours of memi mamtera," is the song used in the viral israeli tiktok trend of kidnapping, humiliating, and torturing palestinians in the west bank.
and the "grand prize," which needs no explanation, is "all of palestine! for free!"
not to sound old fashioned or whatever but getting rid of payphones is a mistake, and the only reason we should do it is if we're replacing them with free, public use phones. Having the ability to reach out to others in every place of public congress and transit is an important safety feature and the advent and adoption of smartphones does not negate their utility.
I know i've already lost this battle, so it's somewhat pointless to say, but smartphones die. chargers aren't always there. smartphones break. some people don't have them. Being able to call someone and ask for help, to get in touch with friends and family, without relying on something you yourself own, is a societal good.
Furthermore, expecting everybody to have a single piece of fragile technology on them at all times to the point that critical services are not available without them is truly mind-boggling to me. This goes for things like restaurant menus and transit maps as well. you should be able to navigate the world without a brick made by Apple or Samsung, and if you can't, then something is fundamentally broken. It's one thing for new technology to augment an existing real-world experience, it's another thing to usurp it entirely.
