“Scully had to kinda be the boss in a few situations and like tell people what to do. And I felt like I was like 12 still and I had this—still feel like I have this—really kinda squeaky voice and, you know, I was a professional FBI agent—and a medical doctor, for fuck’s sake! And I had to pretend like I knew my shit. So when I was in those situations where I had to talk to a large group of usually male police officers and tell them what to do or have to sit and be the authority on something, a fear set in, because I didn’t feel like I had any of that experience myself or I was necessarily even capable of projecting that type of intelligence and authority in any way, shape, or form.
