don't feel too bad for not seeing every single movie in the quiz, i myself haven't seen all of them and some of the ones i have seen i didn't like very much. i used the most popular films of the directors that are most popular with white american film majors, and thus the ones that are most essential to holding a conversation with filmbros. you do NOT have to watch all of these, do a little browsing on wikipedia and see which ones interest you. some of these, particularly the horror- and scifi-adjacent titles, have a modern reboot with the same title, but for this list i usually mean the original.
