I know that this line is far from reality and that it has little to do with the true personality of Odin.
He despiced Loki, 😡 he tortured him and sent him to life imprisonment, he was cruel with him, there aren’t doubt about that. 🤐 But I just stop at this because it has a background that I would like to highlight. 🤗
Let’s not talk about Nordic mythology, let’s think about the Marvel stories.
This scene marks, perhaps, the most important point in Loki’s journey.
First when Odin says Frigga would be proud of Loki, here he fulfills his greatest wish, that desire that made him accept the throne of Asgard, just for proving that he was worthy to be who he was. 👑Not the monster he thought was to their eyes.😔
Then Odin recognizes him as his son, then he is the brother of Thor and the Prince of Asgard, his whole life, which until now had been a lie, is reconstructed with those few words “I love you, my sons”
Then his true identity is not a burden, now he can be a Jotun without fear. ❄️
Love is in this case the only piece that heal his broken heart.💔
He is loved and this is all he wanted to be.💖
And finally this scene has a meaning
