A sketch(?) I've been picking away at for a few weeks. I started with a collage process of older pieces again, and you can see some of the journey (and a version with reflected lights that felt a bit too busy). These are a lot different from when I plan an illustration, much more about responding to what appears as I mush stuff around. It's fun to see what kind of character ends up coming through! The deer was actually a student in an illustration I did in college, so now it seems I've inadvertently drawn him all grown up. Dialoguing with my old work is a lot of fun!

An experiment! I was inspired by arikem1878 on youtube's process where they collage art they have done before to create new pieces. It was a lot of fun, and I definitely want to experiment more with this kind of thing!

I’ve wanted to do something with this deer forever but I’ve always been intimidated, so I tried to keep the details simpler and focus on an interesting design. I had fun looking at a lot of old Gothic Lolita Bibles as reference too! I’ll have an embellished print of this in the FC2023 art show.
Color version! I wanted to do a special print for the FC2023 art show, but I kept feeling unresolved no matter how I approached it. Eventually I decided to approach it like a copic marker drawing, looking at a lot of manga artists from the 2000’s like Obata and Kishimoto. It’s a far cry from their work, but I think I can move on from this finally!

I haven’t participated in a zine in years, but when I heard about this one I knew I wanted to be a part of it ! As I thought of how I would have liked Supernatural to end, I realized I just wanted Dean and Cas to be able to settle down somewhere and fix up a place. They went through so much in the show, I definitely think they deserve the chance to take it easy.
