- “Zayn’s part is amazing and he is definitely one of the strongest singers in the group (maybe tied with Liam). GIVE HIM ALL THE SOLOS.”
bonus: what makes you beautiful (vevo go); teenage dirtbag (cover); just can’t let her go; shot for me (cover)

- “Zayn Malik is easily the strongest singer in the group. He gives each song (particularly ballads) a wistful, emotive bit of soul.”

thinking abt how zayn had the least writing credits in 1d out of all the members but then he went n wrote mom + if……. thinking abt how zayn’s tour band he made in 2016 was almost entirely woc n now 1d’s tour band was all white guys……… thinking abt how almost their entire tour crew was white……….. thinking abt how caroline was one of the only poc on the road w 1d and zayn was the godfather of her child n when he left she left the tour to go be w him……. thinking abt how there are more poc in the befour + pillowtalk mvs then there ever where in a single 1d video (excluding the teenage kicks one)……. thinking abt how zayn’s only collab on his debut album was w kehlani, a wlwoc………  thinking…………..

[sighs] It’s actually a funny story, like, the fir- the first time I went on a plane; I went on a plane with these boys [points at them] and they knew it was the first time I was getting on a plane and I was quite nervous about it (Louis: oh yeah) so before the plane took off [giggles and looks at Louis] I’m sat with Louis on one side and Liam’s on the other, and Louis goes: “right, when it takes off it’s gonna do a loopty loop in the air” [everybody laughs] (Niall: I remember that!) so like, I remember for, like, twenty minutes of the journey I was waiting for it to [laughs cutely] like, go upside down, like, just terrified,

Zayn was the only member of 1D who was a POC, He was detained at airports for having his name especially entering the US. He had to face countless amounts of racism and Islamophobia, wearing a t-shirt that said “i’m not a terrorist”. getting ostracized by the public and media. Moving schools cause the town was racist. Articles linking him to the Boston bombings just cause he left the band. Being asked about his gun tattoo in live tv, and being asked if he is a school shooter at 17 cause he took a plastic pink gun to school. Media articles being forced to publish bad things about him. He was labelled as dark and mysterious i.e the bad boy when he wasn’t close to that, always getting blamed for whatever happened, ex: weedgate, zouis fight etc getting blamed for the fallout of the band, to this date. An actual song on Spotify titled “Zayn is a terrorist”, getting backlash for his “free Palestine” tweet at the height of the Gaza conflict. He was one of the only British-Pakistani men in mainstream media. the way the management conveniently pushed zayn’s dad out of the picture as if he didn’t exist cause he wasn’t white. Not being able to grow a beard, or talk about his religion or culture, actively forcing him to hide that part of himself. Being asked if he was on drugs and in rehab due to cancelling a show. Mind you he had an ED. Being whitewashed in pictures and the media. Post band the amount of hate he still gets for existing. Award shows snubbing him even tho he had every right to get there, constantly being invalidated and called white. Even his current label treats him like an afterthought and to every poc artist they behave the same.Sabotaging his music, albums leaks, sending vocals without permission. There is also a reason that even with his vocal capability he was labelled as  “unpredictable and hard to work with” [look at the poc artists anon and see the trend of calling them “rude or unpredictable” you see the problem?]. Why was Zayn always the sacrificial lamb?
So tell me how is that equal playing ground? white privilege exists and it is a fact,  there are a lot of people in the industry who wouldn’t be there if they weren’t white. It’s simple the fight and run for white artists and poc arent the same no matter how much one has talent.  So when we say don’t compare it means when you actively compare a white artist with a poc you are invalidating the struggle the poc had to face to get there. The others had struggles but they werent “oppressed” and they are not the same. SO when “zstans” say don’t compare we are saying to not invalidate his struggles as a brown artist in the western world.
