OSUN SACRED GROVE.
located on the outskirts of Osogbo, Osun State, is one of the last remaining primary high forest in southern Nigeria. The abode of the goddess of fertility Osun, the landscape of the grove & its river is dotted with sanctuaries & shrines, sculptures & art works in honour of Osun & other deities. The sacred grove which is now seen as a symbol of identity is probably the last of its kind in Yoruba culture. It testifies to the once widespread practice of establishing sacred groves where fishing, farming, falling of trees etc was prohibited outside all settlements. It is also a UNESCO World Heritage Center.
