earlier today i told an acquaintance in passing that i'll often be in the middle of a novel and think "man i wish this shit were more ambiguous" and had to reiterate twice that i wasn't being sarcastic before they believed me, so this post is to say: i love when writers don't bother to explain everything, i love when stories end uncertain and unsettling, i love being required to think as a reader, i love when stuff makes no damn sense, no i'm not kidding

I feel...a lot of times...people wanna be told whether or not things are good or bad, instead of doing the individual work to figure out of things are bad or not. You have to have your own ethical code and ethos. You have to have a spine for yourself, or else anybody could tell you literally anything. Which is what most of yall on this website do anyways, so you end up agreeing with whoever you're following instead of using your noggin.

while im at it “but I’ll see what i can do” is the most character defining line in the whole series for kaladin. not because it highlights his tenacity or the stormblessed curse or anything but cause it really really REALLY brings out the I Used To Work In Retail of it all. the long suffering I Hate The Rich. modern au kaladin up on the employee intercom like “hey guys someone shit in the dressing room again god is clearly dead. but. well. ill see what i can do”
