The opposite of whitewashing is not fetishization.
Just because you aren’t whitewashing characters, doesn’t automatically mean you’re completely respecting their race and identity. Just because you’re giving characters correct racial features and skin tones, doesn’t automatically mean you’re respecting their race and identity.
Whitewashing isn’t the only form of racism.
Be mindful of racial fetishization, it is another form of racism.

Thrawn is an interesting guy so far. Exactly the kind of imperialist who'd collect artifacts from indigenous people in the name of preserving the culture while also being aware that he's the reason the culture is falling apart. He'd love the British museum.
