Chris Evans in Talks to Play Gene Kelly in Film Produced by John Logan

Chris Evans is in talks to step into the shoes of legendary actor Gene Kelly in a developing film project produced by John Logan, Variety has confirmed.

The untitled film is based on Evans’ original idea in which a 12-year-old boy who works on the MGM Lot in the 1950s finds an imaginary friend in Kelly while working on his newest film.

Though a studio is not yet attached to the project, Evans is set to produce the film alongside Logan, who is also penning the script. Rian Johnson and Ram Bergman’s T-Street Productions are set to serve as producers, as will Mark Kassen. Evans, Johnson and Bergman last worked together on 2019 box office darling “Knives Out.” Three-time Oscar nominee Logan is best known for his work writing Ridley Scott’s “Gladiator,” Martin Scorsese’s “The Aviator,” Tim Burton’s “Sweeney Todd” and James Bond movie “Skyfall.”

Ana De Armas In, Scarlett Johansson Exits Apple’s Chris Evans-Starrer ‘Ghosted’; Skydance Producing

A different kind of reteam is in store for Ghosted, the Apple Original Films romantic action adventure film to be helmed by Dexter Fletcher. Ana de Armas will reteam with her Knives Out co-star Chris Evans in the film. Scarlett Johansson, Evans’ oft-collaborator in the Marvel movies, has amicably exited the picture in what sources describe as a scheduling conflict.

The film was developed from a pitch by Skydance, with David Ellison, Dana Goldberg and Don Granger producing, along with Jules Daly. Evans will serve as producer and de Armas as an executive producer. The film’s writers, Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick (Deadpool, Zombieland), will also be producers.

Apple acquired the high-profile project over the summer. It is described as a high concept romantic action adventure film. The change comes because the intent is to get the picture into production by February, and the timing didn’t work out for Johansson. Ellison led the charge to bring in de Armas, who’s about as hot an actress out there right now after Knives Out and No Time to Die, and with the Adrian Lyne-directed Deep Water upcoming with Ben Affleck. She most recently starred with Evans and Ryan Gosling in the Joe and Anthony Russo-directed The Gray Man for Netflix. She has also been in talks to play the lead in the John Wick spinoff Ballerina.

Skydance is coming off the Chris Pratt-starrer The Tomorrow War, the Michael B. Jordan-starrer Without Remorse, and has set Victoria Mahoney to direct Old Guard 2.

Either way, she's a CAA actress😅💦... which means it's a CAA-driven production.

Well, here it is. 52 weeks of data, scrunched and sorted, all leading to this: The Dream SMP Minecraft Server and its content creators make up a full 33.333333% of this year’s Top Things. This should come as no surprise to anyone who’s been reading our weekly Fandometrics lists. Given that the dataset runs from October 21, 2020, to October 20, 2021, it’s also no surprise that Supernatural and Destiel round out the top three. Genshin Impact’s popularity shows no signs of slowing down as new players discover the joy (and heartbreak) of wishing. Loki gave fans more versions of the character than we had ever dared to hope for, along with very intense feelings about jet skis. Baby Yoda and his dad stole the galaxy’s heart, the Boku no Hero Academia manga is in its final act, a major ship in The Owl House went canon, and we learned that Bucky Barnes sleeps on the floor.
