Don’t be sad if you were alone on Valentine’s Day, even death didn’t have a date </3 WEBTOON

Books are the only exception. Authors earn MAYBE 20k/year unless they’re consistent bestsellers for years.

No one is going to help authors by just buying one book, if anything, nowadays, a lot of small authors have stuff like venmo, paypal, patreon, etc, pirate the book and send them money directly.

NO. When you don’t buy the book, then the author’s publisher will refuse to publish the next one in the series, because it didn’t get enough sales.

If you want more books from an author to be released, then pirating that author’s books is the LAST thing you should do.

I hate publishing companies. I get it. I do. But book piracy only makes everything suck more for everyone. Your solution just leads to a sad world with fewer books.

One particular book of a bestselling author? Not much of a difference. One copy of the first/second book of a new writer? Shortcut to fucking up their chance of getting published again forever.

As someone looking to publish, and having friends who have books out on the market, I have high sensitivity to this kind of stuff. Last year had hit small-time authors A LOT.

So by pirating a book you’re not stealing from the publisher, you are killing someone’s chance of another contract.

Way to support your content creators, yay. Great way to let the authors know you like their writing, but not enough to pay for it and give them a chance to publish the next volume.

what is stopping hackers from displaying jeff bezo’s credit card number on times square

Avatar

That just isn't right. If they displayed his credit card number, the credit company would likely waive all charges made to the account and pay for it by raising fees for everyone else. If they display his DEBIT card, though, that's a direct line baby.

you. i like you.

Color theory

These would be perfect for a children’s hospital

The absolute best color for a bed in a children’s hospital! Such a revitalizing color for the place where you rest and recuperate! And that’s not to mention the other positive associations that red has!

Three pictures are displayed. The first is a picture with a Magic the Gathering card and a circular piece of wood. The card has a circular piece taken out. The text reads as the following:

D&D players, here’s a great way to turn your old Magic cards into tokens in case you don’t have any minis.

The second is a reaction meme with Skipper from the Penguins of Madagascar TV show.

The third is a screenshot showing the value of the Magic the Gathering card from the first picture. At TCGplayer.com the card, a Black Lotus, is shows at the value of $42,000.

After reblogging this post an hour or so ago I wised up and realized there’s no reason to make a game token for a blue flower. To demonstrate the utility of this craft technique, you’d use an orc or an elf or something like that. The first image above has got to be a photoshop. Here’s the original image:

literally who CARES if straight cis men are wearing skirts for ‘clout’!!! I want to live in a world where being gnc is desirable to them rather than one where they make bigoted jokes about it. it’s GOOD that people with the privilege to do so are normalising gender non conformity and i dont give a shit if they have deliberate political intentions or if they’re just having fun you guys are all so annoying

we could be using the tiktok boys to kickstart a movement around men wearing skirts that would benefit gnc and trans people but you guys want ideological purity before u want results

i agree wit this but at the same time a lot of these guys are performing to be gnc in order to attract women and that’s a problem,,,,

is it?

do you think men have never tried to make themself attractive to women before? why is it that you suddenly have an issue with that when they’re not doing so in a socially approved way? Why do you view gender nonconformity as any more ‘performative’ than mainstream, conformative choices of presentation?

This just in, it’s morally wrong to want to look hot

but if the men show their scandalous bodies, how are the women meant to focus?

Punjabi but in a southern accent

The accent makes me think I should understand what he’s saying is this what a stroke feels like

15 years ago i was in my friend’s wedding. said friend is vietnamese! i got really used to hearing her speaking vietnamese with a vague valley girl accent, but i was NOT prepared for her aunt, who immigrated here and lived in tennessee to bust out speaking vietnamese in a THICK deep south drawl at the rehearsal dinner. i had to bolt to the bathroom before i lost it at the table bc it was SO SURREAL. my friend followed me bc she thought i was having a panic attack and i was like I THOUGHT YOUR VALLEY GIRL VIETNAMESE WAS SURREAL SOUNDING ENOUGH, YOUR AUNT HAS JUST BLOWN MY GODDAMN MIND.

(for reference, i am schizoaffective and have psychotic episodes that sometimes make it so people around me sound like they’re speaking another language but in their normal voice, so hearing an accent i am really used to in english being wrapped around vietnamese made me feel like i was having an episode, this wasn’t a case of “ha ha, she talks funny!”)

we have some romanian friends, and their little boy has almost zero accent when speaking english, but a THICK american southern accent when speaking romanian.

presumably it’s a matter of perception. like someone from up north might hear his southern accent all the time, but we only notice it in romanian bc…well, he speaks english like everyone from round here, but you can hear how he speaks romanian differently from the rest of his family???

The narrative neurotypicals give about the mentally ill is so warped like how many times have you heard “If Van Gogh took medication, we wouldn’t have Starry Night,” and he literally painted that one on meds in a mental ward.

Okay, wow, this post really blew up more than I ever expected! I love the feedback, and to everyone who added “Even if his suffering is what gave us the paintings, they aren’t worth his suffering,” you are all correct.
