Spinning on that dizzy edge

I don't find most comedy, and particularly comics, funny. But there is a John Mulaney bit where he talks about Jewish girls, and I'm like, fair enough, guy, ya got me.

Note: the Jewish girl he was talking about he married, and they are very adorable.

Note note: around our house, one of us will often go, "MY STOMACH HURTS." "IT'S HOT IN HERE."

A thousand people have said this already, but I think it can’t be said enough: Don’t normalise Sean Spicer. Don’t welcome him back. He was a henchman of the Trump government and he hasn’t denounced them. He’s a liar and a cheater and should not be treated like a regular person.

PSA, having been hurt yourself doesn’t give you license to hurt other people. Period, the end.

It’s called being an accountable adult.

Addendum: Humans are not dogs, they don’t owe you unconditional adoration just because you occasionally pet them.

Our friend got chased off this godforsaken website not just because of a shitty anon. So, yeah, vagueblogging is really nice, isn't it, when it's about you? Feels awesome, I bet.

Do not be daunted by the enormity of the world’s grief. Do justly NOW. Love mercy NOW. Walk humbly NOW. You are not obligated to complete the work but neither are you free to abandon it.

From the Talmud

Pirkei Avos (Ethics/Chapters of the Fathers) 2:16

That last bit –

Lo Alecha haM’lacha Ligmor, veLo Atah Ben-Chorin leHivatel Memenah / לֹא עָלֶיךָ הַמְּלָאכָה לִגְמוֹר, וְלֹא אַתָּה בֶן חוֹרִין לִבָּטֵל מִמֶּנָּה / It is not your duty to complete the task, but nor it is your freedom to withdraw from it

– is something which is not shared nearly enough, something which is not repeated nearly enough, something with is not SHOUTED FROM THE FREAKING ROOFTOPS nearly enough.

I think if I had to describe Jewish ethics, I would start with this quote.
