the word for brain here is cerebrum, and it's been literally split in two

I've seen wordplay like this before in Latin, but with compound words that are clearly made up of separate parts

but "cere" is not a word and neither is "brum"

you could translate it something like

"he split his br apart ain with a rock"

and it's only slightly less unreadable than that due to freer word order

needless to say something I'd expect more from a modern experimental poem than an ancient epic

Latin linguistic shitposting is amazing. Like, I can't recall exactly, but there's a line of poetry that says basically "Claudius lives in the mountains mountains".

Except because Latin is inflected and word order is less important, it's actually written like "in the (mountains) Claudius (mountains) lived"

And it still means the same thing. Except why the duplicate of mountains? Because it turns out, Claudius didn't live in the mountains. He lived in a valley between two mountains.

They changed the word order of the sentence and duplicate a word, to do a word-order pun about where some random guy lived! It's great, and exactly the kind of thing you can't do in English, because we depend so much more on word order.

Okay, but this is even funnier (and a bit angsty) when you consider that, in the Good Omens universe, angels and demons work by Discworld rules, where they can affect the world around them just through the power of belief.

And Crowley, especially, is really good at this. As well as the obvious scene where he imagines that his car isn’t burning to bits, and so it doesn’t, there are little things as well. His music system works without speakers because he forgot that it needed them. A military jeep grows a cassette player when he gets into it because he assumes that all vehicles come with music systems.

So logically, this should never happen to Crowley. Like, it can’t happen, because the laws of the universe state that if Crowley opens a door believing it to open one way then it will open that way, even if it opened the other way just a moment ago.

So the only reason this could possibly happen to him, is if his belief that the door opened one way was overshadowed by the far stronger belief that the universe at large is Out To Get Him in some fundamental way.

So, y'know, imagine Crowley struggling with a door for a full minute before Aziraphale steps in and opens it with ease.

To clarify, I have no issue with someone donating.  I’m pro-choice myself.  The issue is he donates once when he says he’s going to donate each time, just so he can virtue signal about how he refuses to engage with someone.

Furthermore, I have issues with him replying to any criticism with this.  You can criticize the smug pride in not engaging in debate and beating your opposition, yet he’ll assume you’re pro-life as a result.

He’s being a smug prick who is playing you all like a fiddle to get jerked off and you’re all falling for it.

If this is the hill you want to die on, Spidey, go for it. I’m quite happy with the idea of someone donating money to Planned Parenthood, and since I don’t know or care who he is, the virtue signalling is lost on me.

This is like “man pledges to build house for every homeless person evicted from X location” except he builds ONE house and takes the same picture of it over and over again, yet claims he’s built 100 houses.  It’s deceptive and he’s doing it to milk people for social praise.

The goal wasn’t to help people, because if it was he’d actually donate every time.  It was to get ass pats.
